FINALLY DID IT!

Hit my weight watchers goal weight the day before I left for the wedding.  I was so excited!! I did add a few pounds on in the week of the wedding, but I was able to maintain within two pounds for my 6 weeks and officially got my lifetime membership at weightwatchers this past tuesday. SO EXCITING!!!

I will put up a few wedding pictures when I am at my home computer next!  I am in the midst of moving right now, so it'll be a few days atleast.  I am moving back to New Brunswick (SO EXCITED!!!)

15 days till the wedding...holy crappers!  I am PUMPED!  So excited!

I was hoping to hit my Weight Watchers goal weight by the wedding...my fingers were crossed at weigh in this week...I needed to loose 1.6 pounds...and I was down 0.8 AHHH ...so I need to get 0.8 off this week...for my last official weigh in before the wedding. I can so do this ;)

Been running 10K regularly on sundays...we have decided to officially start training for the 1/2 marathon at the First on June...when teh wedding hype has calmed down a little.

I'll be sure to post wedding pictures if I don't get back before then;)

I'm outie!

April 24, 2007

Wow...has it really been this long??

A lot has happened since I have last posted taht has prevented me from getting on here and keeping myself accountable.  After my last trip to Ottawa in January, I arrived home anda couple of days later we got news that my finace's mom passed away.  She has been battling cancer for a couple of years now, and we thought she was doing better until a a coupleof months before we got the news. when things go bad with cancer, they go bad fast. .  It was tough for him, but he is a fighter and is doing well.  We had to make an emergency trip home and spent a lot of time with friends and family.

Two weekends ago, Josh and I did our first official 10K run, and it felt AMAZING!  We really pushed ourselves and were really surprised that we were able to do it (and in less than an hour at that!) Felt fabulous, and so this past weekend we decided to do it again...perhaps we are going to make it our weekly "long run" which we had been doing on the treadmill until now. Its so much nicer actually running outside!

I haven't been as on the ball as I want to be with journalling, not only my food, but my feelings. I am trying to get into the habit of doing that but it isn't as easy as I'd like.  I know if I can get my feelings down on paper it'll help me in the future.

Wedding is LESS than a month away...holy crap! I am SO excited!  I will be sure to post a picture or two on here.

Weight has been VERY slowly dropping. I am less than 3 pounds away from my weight watchers goal weight of 160.   unofficially (i.e. the scales at the gym) I am 159...so fingers are crossed for the weigh in tonight.

I hope to be able to stay a liitle more on track with my posts...but I have said that before, so we'll see :)

11 Jan 2007

I hate trying to decide what to call my posts....so from now on they are called the date ;) Original AND creative I know!

This week I have started journalling my food again. with Core you don't have to journal, but I am doing it to keep myself accountable and to also ensure I count any non-core foods I put into my mouth.  I am also going to start journaling how I feel before I go to sleep...if I am pleased with how well I followed the plan that day, how my exercising went, etc.  I need to have that to remind myself NOT to have the food right before I go to sleep (even if it is core, I don't want to be eating late at night).

I missed weigh in this week because I was in London with my fiance, he had to do his lie detector test as part of the process of (hopefully) becoming an RCMP officer.  We also took some time to pick out tux's for the upcoming wedding which was alos lots of fun. I'll be out of town this coming week as well, but I plan on weighing in while away, since I know exactly where the meeting location is (I used to live there).

Minor Set Back

Its been a while, but let me assure you that I have been staying on top of things, just haven't had a chance to get on here and post.  Also has to do with the fact that there was no WW meeting last week, so this week was the first timw Iweighed in in 2 weeks (the two weeks of christmas and new year at that). I had a minor gain of 1.8 pounds....which I am more than determined to have off at this weekend weight in.  It is a minor set back that I expected, seeing as it was the holiday season. I did over indulge a bit, almost strictly emotional eating. Being away from family was tough at christmas...but hey I am here and living so I made it through;)

As far as the gym goes, I was on teh ball.  Went atleast 5 times/week...missed christmas and new year only because it was closed...otherwise most likely woudl have been there those days too.  I don't like how I feel on the days I don't exercise...I am missing my spunk on those days.

When my wedding comes, which will be liek a holiday season with all the food and distractions, I will be sure to get in my exercise and drink lots of water.

Been busy with lots of wedding plans....its so much fun wedding planning:)  Thank goodness for my mom at hoem who has been doing ALOT to help me out...she is a god send for sure!  Its tricky getting everything done from a few provinces over...but hey its fun!

A Week in Review

Well i didn't do too bad this week.  I got in my 3 cardio sessions (plus 1!!) along with my 2 strength training sessions.  Had 2 nice long walks with Josh (very enjoyable)...one last night to look at all the christmas lights up in our area, so pretty!

Food wise, I wasn't as good at writing down the non-core foods that I ate...that is priority #1 this week (should be fun with christmas in there hehehehe).  I did try a few new foods and some I liked, some I didn't.  I have realized there is a difference in styles of cous cous, and I liked the stuff I had the first week better, so I'll have to try that again. Barley is YUMMY! I never knew you could use it like rice, it is really tasty. Oatmeal...not such a fan. I have to find something to put in it that I really like I think...I"ve been told fruit is the way to go, but what fruit??  We'll see how this develops.

I was down 1.6 lbs this week...that brings my total to 77 pounds.  Exactly 14 pounds to go by the 28th of February (10 weeks), and 23 to hit my ULTIMATE goal, hopefully by May 19th (21 weeks).

I have been feeling physically great, have noticed some significant changes in my body in the last few weeks, and have noticed some pants becomming way to big.  I am officially, and comfortably in a size 12 now, and even my size 12 jeans I have to tug at to stay up once and a while. Much better than the size 20 two years ago!!

Merry Christmas Everyone!  I plan to ATLEAST maintain over the next week, and if I lose it will be a bonus!

Setting Mini Goals - Exercise

Ahhhh....exercise....you just can't get away with out it.  I have been trying many new things as far as this goes, but nothing gives me the satisfaction and high of running.  So for the next 11 weeks, I am going to continue with my running, but try and do longer runs.  Because my gym is a bit small, and it is getting cold outside, I will not FORCE myself to run, as long as I get in some for of cardio on my schedules days then I will be fine.

Here is the plan:

2 days a week of running for 45 minutes, plus 30 minutes of another type of cardio

1 day a week of 75 minutes of running

2 days a week of strength training circuit (this is a set of exercises I must do 2 sets of each, and repeat it twice)

Atleast 2 times a week go for a 30 minutes walk.

IF I get all this in, I should have no problem getting my weight to 153 by the end of Feb!

Setting mini goals - eating

So what do I need to do to accomplish this goal...lots of things :)

As far as eating goes, for the next 11 weeks I vow to:

Strictly follow the core plan, using (and tracking) all of my 35 flex points and activity points

Focus on the Good Health Guidlines, Namely:

       - Eat at least 5 servings of fruit and veggies each day(shouldn't be any problem for me!)

        - Choose whole grain food whenever possible

        - Include 2 servings of milk products every day (I'll do this by having milk with breakfast and dinner)

         - Drink atleast 6 glasses (total of 1.5 litres) of water every day (have to focus on this during weekends!)

         - Have some healthy oil each day, 2 tsp of olive, canola, safflower, sunflower, or flaxseed.

         - Make sure you get enough protein, 1-2 servings a day from lean meats, fish, eggs

          - Limit added sugar and alcohol (Already have the limited alcohol down pat, since i rarely ever have a drink.  Am more aware of the sugar I have been eating and have been trying to reduce it)

        - Take a multivitamin mineral supplement every day (I have FINALLY got this into my routine, and take one every night.  Need to make sure if I am away for a night that I have them with me)

I have been trying a lot of new foods now that I am on core, and there are some really yummy grains/lentils/etc out there taht I had never tried before.  I am pretty impressed,a nd hope to try and incorporate more of these foods into my everyday life.

Setting mini goals - Weight loss target

This weeks weigh in I was at 168.6, solidly in the 160's and it feels fabulous! I am pretty excited to be in "weight class" I haven't seen since High School...ahhhhh feels nice.

At my meeting last week, my leader asked me if I had set a weight watchers goal weight. I told her that my ultimate goal was to be at 144, which would be a total loss of 100 pounds since I started this whole journey in February of 2005, and that would mean a loss of about 25 more pounds.  She said she didn't think I eneded to drop that much more weight (which felt nice I must admit) and so we set a goal weight of 153 pounds.

This is only as far as weight watchers goes...I still would like to be 144, if not less, before all is said and done.  The significance of the weight wacthers goal just means I will hit goal and hence liftime a bit quicker.  That has the added advantage of weight watchers then being free as long as I can stay withing 2 pounds of 153 (I can go under by as much as I need to, but I can't go over).

So this added a nice mini goal for me.  I would like to have reached my Weight Watchers goal weight by the time my wedding dress comes in, in late February. If it comes in early, then I still have February 28 as my target.  That means 15.6 pounds in 11 weeks, about 1.5 pounds a week. I think I can do that! The next post will be my fitness/eating goals to accompish this goal!

Milestones

I am sitting doing an analysis for work, and  I keep coming across the word "MILESTONES" and I realized that I have hit some pretty big ones in the last few weeks and haven't shared them on here.

Firstly, a couple of weeks ago now, I hit my 50 lbs since joining weight watchers, which meant a cool magnet for me!  That meant a total loss of 65 pounds since i started this whole adventure back in february of 05.  I have since lost 6 more pounds and am feeling great with 71 pounds down...I am so close to the 160's I can taste it;)

Secondly, I completed a 10 k run. I didn't do it in an official race or anything like that, just on the treadmill. I find it help me pace myself much better.  I am taking a couple of weeks off from running and doing some biking and elliptical work while I work out a half marathon training schedule. A hefty goal, but I can't wait to tackle it

Lastly, I bought my wedding dress.  At first this was a sacry thought to me cause I wasn't sure on sizing and all that fun stuff...plus I wasn't sure my arms and chest were ready for a strapless dress.  But it looked pretty great! AND it is ordered in a 14...THATS RIGHT!!! When I ordered my dress for my best friend's wedding in september 05 it was a 22W or a 24W...eiteher way, it was much bigger.  So I felt really great about that!

So things have been progressing.  Still really S.L.O.W but I am feeling pretty fabulous and I am still seeing results, so it is all positive.  Hopefully the last 29 pounds will be gone before the wedding, preferable before my dress is in, so any alterations can be made.

One day at a time!
