Before After

Back again

OK so I've had a bit of time off but I'm back.
I've been so sick with so many things but I finally have answers!
So I'm really hopeing the weight will come down now.
So I can't eat: dairy, wheat, caffiene, alcohol, spicy foods. This is why my weight has not budged even though I was eating healthily and losing weight. Food Intolerance!!! This is also why I have been so sick all the time. I'm already feeling much better and getting my mojo back in the gym. It's just crazy how much of an effect food can have on your life.
Fingers crossed that I will finally get better now and the weight will come down!
I hope everyone else has been going great with their journey's and having a bit more luck than I have

It's been a while

So it has been a while since I was last on here. It has been really difficult to remain motivated when I keep putting on weight and when I am constantly sick. On Tuesday I started training to run 12km like I used to. I ran 5km without stopping and it took me 34minutes. I'm quite proud of that since I hadn't ran since the start of the year once I got sick. However, Tuesday night I got the flu. It was almost instant like a punch in the face and all of a sudden I'm stuck in bed for the rest of the week with ear infections, the flu and vomiting etc. I hate being cooped up inside but I've had to lump it up because my endoscopy is on Wednesday and they won't do it if I'm sick. Seems kind of stupid since the reason I'm getting it is because I'm sick lol. Anyway here's hoping I am better by Wednesday so I can finally find out what it is that is turning my 22 year old body into an 80 year old body.
Despite being sick I always manage to exercise at least three times a week and I'm always eating healthily. It's funny how when you're sick you really just want to do everything in your power to get better. I always think about the nutritional benefits of the food I eat before I eat it, so I've been eating really good. For lunch today I'm going to have some dry fried spinach with garlic, two scrambled egg whites with paprika, and a small handful of lite cheese on a mountain bread wrap with 2 tablespoons of organic tomato salsa. It really just seems so unfair to me that I can't lose weight. Well Wednesday I will finally find out. Really hope to get some answers!!

Busy, Busy, Busy bee

WOW I have been soooooo busy. I haven't had time to come online it's been really weird. It's funny how disconnected from the world you feel when you havent been online in ages lol. So the week before last I had an AWESOME week ate so healthily all week and burnt 4000 calories in total over the week but do you think I lost any weight!! NO!!!! I created huge deficits everday! What a joke. Last week I was a little down about my efforts and only exercised 3 days. I still ate well the majority of the time. But I was too scared to weigh myself today (my WI day) so I don't know how I went? In other news I finally had my appointment with the Gastro and now I have to have an endoscopy and other stuff and get a whole lotta biopsy's done. So that'll happen within the next 3-4 weeks and then finally I will know!
I hope everyone else has been going well

Deficit

Breakfast: 488cal=1 cup spinach + WM toast + poached egg + small bowl gluten free musli + extra lite soy milk+coffee
Snack: 107cal tomato soup
Lunch:411cal vegie patty + salad and 1 mountain bread wrap+ 1 piece WM bread with organic peanut butter+ tea
snack:190cal-carrot sticks with extra lite french onion dip
Dinner: 309cal 100g steak with2 plates of baby spinach leaves and dressing
Total=1500cal
BMR=1619cal
Exercise =600cal =10 min run 10km/h + 5 min on elliptical +1 hour total body class.
Deficit=719cal
This is a normal day for me although I had a hungry day today so I ate a little more than usual. Plus I ate a piece of bread with peanut butter which isn't that great. Usually I would eat something a little better than this like some almonds or walnuts or brazil nuts etc. But all in all not a bad day. But this is what I mean about doing everything right and still putting on weight!

After the weigh in

After the weigh in I was completely ready to chuck it all in. I mean why bother doing anything when I just keep gaining anyway. I thought long and hard and came up with this:

Today
I am worth this! I deserve this and I CAN do this! It doesn't matter that I've had a few set backs. This week is a new week. This day is a new day!

Today, I choose to nourish my body with the food it deserves in order to be healthy physically, emotionally and mentally!

Today, I choose to strengthen the machine that is my body. The machine that enables me to participate in everything that life has to offer!

Today I choose to strengthen my mind!
Today, I choose to be the best me that I can be!

I decided that exercise and eating right is more than just losing weight. The benefits of doing this far exceeds just losing weight. It improves health, concentration levels, energy levels, stress levels etc. I need to take care of my body so that I can have the best life possible. I'm really glad I came up with this. Because I was so ready to jump off the wagon. It really just seems unfair. But in 8 days I will FINALLY have my apointment with the Gastroenterologist and hopefully I will get closer to sorting this mess out.
I have also decided to count my calories so that I have proof that I am eating right and not too much. Because I KNOW that people won't believe me.

Apparently I can't do this! ARGHHHH!

So It was weigh in day today. This past week I was happy with what I ate. everything that went into my mouth was healthy and had some sort of nutritional value. I didn't eat ANY junk and although I only exercised 4 times I still exercised for 6 hours and burnt 2500calories. But when I got on that piece of shit scale I found that I had gained 0.8kg. 800g are you f******g kidding me!!! What the hell do I need to do to lose weight.
OK I know everyone's first response is going to be ok well what did you really eat. Well guess what the only things I ate were vegetables, fruits, nuts, lean proteins, soy milk, brown rice, and 1 piece of WM bread each day, yoghurt etc it was only nutritious food that went into my mouth this week. I ate like a champion. And I drank tonnes of water. Oh but how much did you eat? You were probably eating too much. Well no I wasn't!!
THIS is why I first went to the doctors because I was creating deficits EVERYDAY and still gaining at this rate. Did they believe me. NO. So they put me on REDUCTIL. Did that work? NO. Then I started getting all sorts of other symptoms:
-stomach cramps
-difficulty breathing which resulted in pneumonia and now asthma
-arthritis in my hip, wrists and fingers
-migraines
-fatigue
-nauseau
-vomiting
-IBS
-constant mouth ulcers and coldsores
-muscle pain, especially in my upper back.
-ear aches
SO I know now after going to the doctors for ages that it is some sort of food intolerance. But it's doing my head in waiting to get into the Gastro. I have been sick with all of these symptoms for 6 months now and I have been waiting for 3 1/2 months for my Gastro apointment. It's so overly frustrating because not only does it make my life difficult because I'm always in some sort of pain but I keep having weeks like this where I eat really well, exercise and PUT ON!!!
Sorry guys just really needed to have a rant. I'm so angry at this. It's so dissapointing to work so hard only to have this happen to me all the time and also to have noone believe me.

Distractions

I've been trying so hard to do the right thing this week and my eating has been pretty good but once again I haven't exercised as much as I would have liked. 4 times this week which is an improvement from the other two weeks but essentially I want to be doing 5-6 days a week. It's so frustrating I have things planned and nearly everytime something comes up. I need to learn how to say no to people because I just don't have the time to be constantly visiting people or doing stuff that's not on my to do list. It sucks big time because of course I want to see my friends. I don't want to be a bad friend. But I'm so busy I'm going to have a nervous breakdown if I keep getting interupted from what I need to do. I NEED TO LOSE WEIGHT!! Summer is 12 weeks away and I really really really really want to be a size smaller at the very least. GAH I just hope tomorrows weigh in brings some good news !

Proud

So I actually went to the gym today. Came really really close to not going, so close that I'm still shocked that I actually went. I wasn't going to but then I got on here and read some peoples blogs and read what other people have done today and decided to just do it! So glad I did! I'm really glad I found this site

Food Intolerance. Do you have one?

  • Tiredness, drowsiness, no energy: Feeling continuously tired and out of sorts is often due to untreated food intolerance. When your body is busy trying to process foods it is not equipped to digest - there is no energy left for normal day-to-day activities - like walking, thinking . . . and living.
  • Frequent headache or migraines: The slight inflammatory response caused by sensitivity to certain foods (like yeasts, gluten, dairy etc.) causes headache in many of us. Continuing to eat those foods means you will keep getting the headaches. But get your diet right and the headaches will disappear.
  • Stomach bloating, nausea, diarrhea, constipation, flatulence: All these including the well known Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) are common effects of food intolerance. But when you find out your problem foods you can be free of symptoms simply by eating differently.
  • Mouth ulcers: These are the hallmarks of an immune system under stress. When you eat foods your body cannot process - unrecognized proteins are produced. Your immune senses an invasion and starts fighting (inflammation). Now you are vulnerable to common infections like mouth ulcers.
  • Chronic cough, bronchitis, asthma, colds and 'flu: Respiratory conditions are often related to food intolerance. Once again it is the immune system responding by generating inflammation - this time in the lungs and nasal passages. But getting your diet right alleviates symptoms permanently.
  • Eczema, psoriasis and chronic skin conditions: Many people are surprised to find out that food intolerance can cause skin conditions. But it's just another form of inflammation. Moving to the correct diet heals your skin - so you can look and feel wonderful again.
  • 7. Aching joints, backache: When you have food intolerance your body is unable to fully digest certain foods. Unexpected products are generated - and some of them are not recognised as 'friendly' by your immune system. So an immune response takes place - inflammation - and this can settle in the leg joints (leg pain) or joints of the spine (backache). So if your backache has been caused by food intolerance - it's really easy to heal it. Use a proper journal to identify your problem foods then eliminate those foods from your diet. Imagine being pain-free! You won't need the pills any more!
    • 8. Gradual weight changes:  When you have unrecognised food intolerance - your thyroid gland can be affected. That means your metabolism gets disrupted. The thyroid gland processes your food either into energy (to burn) or into fat (to be stored for later use). Mixed up signals means you 'store' when you should be 'burning' (weight gain). . or the vice versa. People who seem to stay thin regardless of what they eat probably have undiagnosed food intolerance - because they are unable to absorb nutrients from food. Getting back to your ideal size is easy- using a purpose-designed journal.
    • 9. Tinea or Yeast (Candida) infections: If you get fungal infections like thrush, jock itch, ring worm or athlete's foot - it is a hallmark of untreated food intolerance. When your immune system is busy fighting half-digested things it thinks are 'foreign'- your defences are down. That's when fungal infections jump in and take advantage. If this is you, deal with the Yeast issue first - by ridding your body of Candida (fungal infection) - then tackle the underlying food intolerance using a proper journal.
One secret to success regarding yeast is a comprehensive guidebook. Our Complete Guide to Yeast-free transcends any other guide you may have used. It is easy, well-laid out and  . . it works!
    • 10. Clumsiness, lack of co-ordination: Just as food intolerance creates inflammation and disruption in the joints and the some vital organs - the nervous system can also be affected. Your muscles are controlled by the nervous system - and when it cannot function properly you can become unco-ordinated and clumsy. It is often noticed among children  . . . but switching to the correct diet can bring dramatic improvements. Identify problem foods using the accurate journal method. (Note: Blood tests are not accurate enough and frequently give misleading results.)
    11. Miscarriage, infertility: Everybody wants to have a healthy pregnancy and a beautiful healthy baby. Unchecked food intolerance interferes with your ability to conceive and have a healthy pregnancy. It applies to men and women. So if there has been miscarriage in your family or if you have ever had one yourself - make sure you investigate food intolerance before trying for another baby. You may think you can guess your food intolerance, switch over your diet and get well again. Unfortunately - it's just not that simple. You need to get proof - and that means using a journal and some reliable food substitution guides. These are all provided in the Healing Program .
    12. Cravings, addictions: Are there foods you absolutely cannot live without? That's a form of addiction. Believe it or not - addictions are another sign of undiagnosed food intolerance. Time to review and rethink? Simply identify your intolerance using a purpose-designed journal and get your health back on track - for life!
