Does running up and down the stairs to punish my children count as cardio??
I think because I get my heart rate going....it should count.
If that question is any indication as to how my day is going. lol. I decided maybe I should join a gym, it will let me exercise and the kids get out to play in the gym daycare. Lol, its a matter of swaying the husband to spend the money! He doesnt think its necessary...I think my sanity is necessary..lol I called around to gyms, and normally my children are quiet when I am on the phone. Oh no! Not today...every second...someones world was ending...The guy said we have a daycare..(pause) and with yours we might can install barbwire to keep them in. Made me feel like suchhhh the awesome mom...I know that has no bearing on what type of mother I am..but it made me feel like a heel!
Happy thought of today is..I tried a new recipe last night... brown rice, vegetables, low fat soup, low fat cheese, with chicken sprinkled with lemon pepper, and baked...EVERYONE loved it! It was such the hit!! Its amazing for us to find something we all like..and plus is it was low fat!
Have a great day and keep smiling!

Too Funny...
... yet not. I know exactly what you're talking about. My kids give me more of a vocal workout. I always feel bad after I yell at them. Sometimes it seems that's all I do!
Good luck getting your hubby to agree to a gym membership. He should realize that a happy Mom makes for happy kids in a happy household.
My heart rate goes up a good bit with my 6 year old, not the baby just yet! Girl climb those stairs all day long it's good for ya. Hope you can talk your hubby into it!! Good luck!
Thank you so much for your kindness. I was wondering if you have ever experienced that "always waiting for something" feeling I was talking about?
And yes, running up the stairs after kids counts! If they are old enough to write I like to punish them by making them write a paragraph about how much and why they love each other. Then I make them read it to each other and hug. They hate it!
I am gonna kick that mans arse for speaking about your two angels like that! Hee hee hee, they are angels and you know it! Yes running up and down stairs is cardio (think stairmaster), perhaps you could start doing that a couple times a day? I mean outside chasing the boys lol. You dinner sounded nummy, gonna try it when we are off the two weeks (no rice yet!). What kind of soup did you use? Cream of mushroom type thing? Zephra, thanks for that tip on punishing kids thru writing, i am gonna adopt that one lol
Running up and down the stairs sounds like a pretty tough workout to me! Hope you do get to join a gym, so you can have some private workout time! You're kids are too cute in their picture.
I think it definitely counts as cardio!! Is this what I have to look forward to?? hee hee. I could use the exercise! How many kids do you have?? Two? I'm sure you're a wonderful mom. I need pointers from everyone. I'm clueless.......
That made me laugh because my sisters kids are like that only when you have to make a call, its like they have a special radar someone is on the phone make alot of noise! Im glad that you are thinking about joinning a gym, its a wonderful investment! Keep up the good work and congrats on the amazing loss in 20 days!!! Rock on!!!!!
You are doing great...and YES, chasing those kids up and down the stairs counts!!! Thanks for the words of encouragement!!! and keep up the good work!!!
I just saw your comment on loveofvenus' blog. Did you think I was stupid or something? LOL! I am good for more than just a song of the day! I have words of wisdom every so often. Especially when it's something that I know from experience.
Now imagine 5 kids with their world's ending and your 13 year yelling at them at the top of his voice to stop screaming while you are talking on the phone. Seriously there was a police officer parked down the street for a little while today and I thought... did someone call DSS?
P.S. We belong to the YMCA and I don't even try to take my kids in to the child care... not because they are bad, just because they would have to close the whole thing down for lack of capacity if I brought them... they give me that horrified look!
I ran up and down the stairs today too..... Keep on working out! Char

Yes it counts!
And I bet that guy at the gym doesn't have any children. It's childless people (in my opinion) that seem to make insensitive comments like that. Keep up the good work and don't worry about a thing, your kids are just being kids.
I think kids know that when you're on the phone with strangers that they can do anything they want because there isn't much you can do about it except make evil faces at them! haha
I think running up and down the stairs to discipline your children should count for cardio and qualify you for sainthood! Anyway, congrats on your recent weight loss. Keep up the good work!
I go to the YMCA 3 times a week and they have a daycare as well. My 2 years old loves going to the daycare and it gives me a break away from her for 2 hours. I get to workout on my own while my daughter plays and socialize with other kids. It's well worth it! Try the YMCA in your area, sometimes they have scholarships where you can apply to reduce your membership fees.
