My Photos

Before After

It is almost Friday

Yea! - another day down and stuck to my goal of no wine - Had a busy day.  Started with a 1 hour 20 minute bike ride 18 miles.  Then showered leisurly, ate breakfast - I looked up and it ws 11:15 oh switch into high gear, got the hair in acceptable shape ran down to my neice's summer camp picked up a form to take to another camp and drove up there, came home to pick up my Restoration Hardware coupon and got a call that no one picked her up from camp, so I did that and then she had to come shopping with me.  I went there to buy these lanterns for outside and they had them so that saved me the shipping

I also bought the DH a grill light, I had an extra 10% off coupon.  Well by the time I was done with that it was time to pick up the DH and then we stopped at Whole Foods, then another grocery store since they did not have my fat free half & half.  I get very grumpy when I cannot have my tea with ff 1/2 & 1/2 in the morning and I have been out for 2 days.  We came home to put the groceries away and then we all went for ice cream.  I have this great throw back place near me - Tasty Freeze.  The stuff is 95% fat fee and not too many calories - I had chocolate Hannah had the swirl cone with sprinkles.  Yum that was lunch for me.  So I was starving at about 5:30 we munched on hummus and veg and some tortilla chips.  Dinner was great, steamed broc and cauliflower, cod, salsa, and roasted potatoes.  Strawberries for dessert.  The scale was down .5 this morning so I am hoping for one more day of a lower scale.  Friday I am going out with a girlfriend for drinks so no wine ban that night. The cleaning lady is coming early so the DH and I are going for an early bike ride.

Staying on track

Today has been a great day.  It rained most of the morning so I went to the gym ended up with 45 minutes of cardio and a really good arm weights resistance training session too.  I went to the farmers market at lunch it was still drizzling but ended up eating lunch there - a sandwich with goat cheese, kale and onions.  I thought it was warm but they handed me a wrapped up cold thing - well not exaclty what I wanted but live and learn.  I tossed the top half of the bun and only ate about 80% of the rest.  I bought strawberries, raspberries, kale, and radishes.  I came home and made strawberry jam again, this time it worked.  I also added basil - not too much just a hint.  It turned out really yummy.  I went for an easy bike ride - 7.5 miles 40 minutes.  Just on the streets so lots of stopping and starting.  For dinner I had a big salad with lettuce, beets, red pepper, cucumber, shrimp, some garbanzos, and basil.  Then I had a big bowl of berries topped with a 45 calorie vanilla yogurt and ff redi whip.  I just cannot say enough about the fresh berries right now.  I am going to have another big bowl tomorrow for brekkie! Here are some pics from dinner Sat at 16

Me in front of the wall of wine - I think it is a good thing I don't have one of these in my house

My crayfish fricasse

The barramundi

The tortilla soup

So hopefully you have eaten before you read this so you don't get too hungry.  Oh and the scale was down 2.5 pounds this morning so strange.  I am just really hoping with such a good day it sticks

Bonus post with a pic

My salad from Boka last Wednesday - it was very yummy but I did eat those fried cheese puffs in the lower left hand part of the pic.

Well computer issues, the photobucket page is frozen so more pics later.  Did not get my arm work in this afternoon went shopping and other errands instead.

New bike clothes

So excited I went to the derm appt yesterday and that was a waste of time and $40 - Yes all your moles look great.  So I hope the reg doc is happy now they will send him the results too.  But then I remembered there is this bike store near the derm office and I never go there because it is in the tourist area - which is code for no parking.  Well I was early for my appt and I drove around the block 8 times but then got a meter and bonus, it was broke with actual stickers on it from the city - that means that you don't have to feed it and it cannot run out of time.  Anyway walked over to the bike store after the appt and they had a decent selection of stuff, even some on sale.  Now of course you know all the sale stuff wasn't quite right but they did have these great chocolate brown biking shorts, without the grippers at the bottoms of the legs.  I also got a cool aqua top with short sleeves and a day glo yellow jersey without sleves.  Both of those have the pockets on the back which is key, I always need a place to put keys and phone and now I have one.

I went to the gym yesterday morning, I may have already told you all that, but then no bike ride, so a day off from the bike.  This morning we went for 15 miles took about 1 hour 10 minutes.  It was too cold for short sleeves, hard to believe but this is supposed to be the last day of low 70's and then it is going to get hot, I am kind of psyched for it, last year I was so sweaty with every ride I swear I lost extra weight.  So I have my cardio in for the day, hoping I will find time/motivation to do some arm weights at home.  I am going shopping with my SIL this afternoon - we are looking for new bedroom stuff for my niece and nephew.

Yesterday was kind of a bust in the eating department so Txlass - I feel your pain.  My scale was up 2 pounds this morning but one plus was I am sticking to my no drinks this week.  I made cookies to take a couple places but of course there was extra chocolate stuff, a few licks of that plus 4 little cookies.  We also did grill the turkey burgers - mixed reviews - they were good but not mind blowing.  Not sure if maybe the Trump chef uses the 7% fat turkey because I use the 98% lean and I am used to that but they were not super flavorful.  I think next time I will use more spice or tabasco in them.  The DH also grilled this pork thing, he did the low and slow so it wasn't done until about 9 but it was tasty, I had a couple bites of that.  I also was snacking while cooking - I was just so hungry for some reason.  So all of that adds up to 2 pounds??  Oh well I am off to a good start today and we will see how it is tomorrow.  I have a newer skirt I am trying to fit into so I need to keep visualizing that.  I am off to get my shower and book some airline tics - we are going to Philly the 1st weekend in Aug to visit my cousin.

And we're off

OK Monday morning and so much done and to do.  today is the 1t day of my neices new summer camp schedule and I have to get a lunch made to run over to her with my SIL at 11:30 I also need to get my hair dried  I have a Dermatologist appt at 12:45 finally got around to making it and they need to check out some moles on my back.  After the appt it will be time to pick up the DH and then back here for lunch.  Then I am planning on a bike ride, it is amazingly beautiful here today.  74 and a little cooler by the lake - they say that a lot here and it is true and important to know because the bike path is along the lake.  I have started a load of laundry and been to the gym - check off that goal - did my ab work and 34 minutes of cardio.  I also got showered and ate breakfast.  I made some strawberry jam yesterday and I thought it was too runny - did not set - but this morning it seems better, not exactly the right texture but not as runny as I thouhght.  It tastes delicious which is important.  I may try again and make it strawberry plus something - maybe basil or mint.  Or rhubarb if I can find it.  My point is that I had some of that on 1 piece of 35 calorie toast along with yogurt and fruit.  Yum, I love the fruit in the summer.  I also got the Mar lago turkey burgers made last night you have to refrigerate them for 2 hours so we did not grill them up last night but are having them tonight.  I will report back and try to take pics.  Oh and I modified it slightly, they use 4 pounds of turkey and make 8 burgers, so a 1/2 pound burger - that is just a little too big for proper portion control so I halved the recipe used 2 pounds of turkey and made 6 oz burgers, I even weighed each one on the food scale - big pat on the back for me.  It made 6 whole burgers and one 2.5 oz mini.  I froze the mini and 2 burgers.  The DH will probably eat 2 and I will have 1 and then there will be one left over for whoever can eat it first.  I even have the low cal buns ready - 80 calories each.  I have heard there are 50 calorie buns out there but I cannot find them at any of the grocery stores here.  Still looking!!!  Gotta run and get all this stuff done - Happy Monday

A good weekend

Well the scale is down a pound this morning and that is after a couple of glasses of wine with dinner last night.  I am happy but cautious sometimes it waits a day to bite you.  I am doing great today and there will be no alcohol so if the scale holds tomorrow it will have been a great weekend on the weight front - that would be a great victory for me.  It keeps raining ever so quickly here.  For about 5 minutes and then it is gone and sunny again.  We are going for our long bike ride in about 30 minutes - that will be at 2, there will be loads of people on the bike path but really want to get the ride in so I will have to suffer through it.

Last night - dinner at 16.  Yum!!  I started with a crayfish fricasse and then barramundi - a really yummy fish, it had black rice and some veg and a sauce.  I will post pics later but it was yummy .  Dessert was a chocolate mint thing, all very small portions the fish was like 4 oz.  The DH had this tortilla soup - mind you this is very fancy tortilla soup but it was yummy it may have even inspired me to try to recreate it.  The flavors in the soup were really concentrated and no cream.  There is definetely a chinois involved and I don't have one but I can puree and push through a screen strainer, the whipped avocado fluff in the middle was heavenly.  His main was duck which never interests me.  My friend Colleen and I may go back for lunch one day to have the Mar lago turkey burger that was on Oprah.  I have pulled up the recipe and am going to try to make them for dinner tonight.  I am going to have to go to the gym tomorrow even if I plan on riding because I need to get some ab or arm work in and even though I should be able to do it at home I never seem to but at the gym I am a star so I think we all know the answer is to go to the gym. The temp here has been so great I haven't had the ac on for 3 days!!  Love saving on the elec bill.  Hope everyone is out enjoying their Sunday!

Fun weekend

Well I have been really busy - hence the lack of posts.  I did actually get my new bike and I really like it.  I am having problems with my hands falling asleep but I am working on that.  The day I picked it up I had a marathon work out day, I had been to the gym and done 40 minutes of cardio plus weight stuff with my legs.  Then rode the bike home from the bike store - 15 minutes then the DH and I went for a ride - 1 hour 15 minutes.  Mind you he was riding super fast since it was his first real ride on his bike too.  Anyway  been on the bike every day since.  We went early yesterday and this morning.  Today was the longest ride so far this summer, 22.5 miles - I love the new bike computer.  It tells you how long you ride, how fast, how many miles, avg speed, fastest speed.  This weekend is the Cub-Sox games and my DH is a Sox fan and they lost the 1st game so we are really hoping they win today.

Last night we stayed home and grilled some fish, I made a salad and also roasted some carrots and zuchinni.  Very yummy, I had a really good eating day but the scale was only down .5 and I am still staying at the same level   My goal is to do really well today and Sunday so the scale will move.  Tonight we are going to 16 - the new restaurant at the Trump hotel.  I have eaten there once and it was amazing.  Luckily the  portions are perfect and even when there is sauce it is just a smear or drizzle.  We also have to go to a B day party first 5-6:30 then dinner at 7 Hoping I can restrain myself to no drinks but we shall see.  Tomorrow we have no plans so I am sure we will be grilling.  I have to run out and try to find a pair of navy pants to wear tonight.  Hope everyone has a great weekend planned.

Bike shopping Day 2

Well I went to the gym this morning because it was a little chilly and I plan on doing some riding this afternoon.  I did pretty well only 35 minutes of cardio but then 30 minutes of arm stuff with weights and a couple machines.  I did not get inthe shower until noon and I still need to got blow dry the hair.  After I pick up the DH from work we are going back to the bike store to try again to find me a bike.  I also am going to return a couple things to Target.  I had a big breakfast of yogurt, fruit and then oatmeal with almond milk in it.  I am still not hungry but that works out for the DH's schedule since he works until 1:30 he doesn't eat until after that so usually 2 or later which should be about the time I am hungry.  Nothing very exciting for dinner last night I just heated up some Boca Chili and put it over baked chips with lf cheese on top.  It was just OK but it did the trick.  Tonight I think I am just going to eat a LC Butternut squash ravioli thing I have and add veggies.  That is all for now, hope everyone enjoyed the photos.

Last Set

These are from Sat night - We went to a graduation party at Naha which is a restaurant that the chef - Carrie Nahabedian - just won the James Beard award for the Great Lakes region - a really big deal.  She is in the group shot.  Then after we went to eat dinner at a new restaurant called Graham Elliot

See those fat arms will not go away

A much better shot without arms

Yummy curry popcorn instead of bread - still not good for you had butter on it too

Cucmber soup with crab in the middle - yum and so light, no cream more of a cucmber broth but super flavorful

When I am on a roll

Pinot in the Park

See it was really in the park - notice how much nicer the hair was in the 1st pic, before all the humidity had its way with it.
