Before After

A week's vacation

I am off at noon today for a week's vacation in Michigan.  We rented a house in South Haven near the beach.  The DH's whole family is coming too.  We plan on lots of time at the beach and some other fun excursions.  They also have a couple of farmers markets and the house has a grill - Yeah.  I have to call the bike store, they were supposed to get a part for the bike rack I need for the car, we really want to take our bikes with.  If they did not get it in I will be so p----.  I called them over a week ago.  We got a ride in this morning - 1 hour 15 minutes, 15 miles.  Yesterday I made it to the gym for a good arm workout and a little cardio.  We had planned on taking a bike ride in the afternoon but it rained and that ended the bike ride plan.  I have done really well eating all week and the scale is down maybe a half a pound.  So I feel everyone's pain.  I do somehow feel that I am due and if I can stick with it a couple more days then I should see some progress.  Luckily there shouldn't be any real issues, we are going to the store when we get there and we may eat out a few times.

Not sure if there will be wifi I may be out of contact for  week but I may not.

another update

Beautiful day for golf.  I did ok for not having golfed in over 2 years.  I had 3 holes with less than a 10.  Nice walking around in the sunshine I am off for a bike ride now  I did get some lunch at 2:30 a wrap with turkey and faux pepperoni and low fat cheese.  I added salsa, nf mayo, and tomatoes.  I also had some melon and low fat chips - just 5 or 6.  I have been trying to eat more protein, there was also protein in the tortilla wrap thing - but only 50 calories.   I am home alone tonight so everything is on track for a great eating day.  I have been busy running around getting stuff to take to MI for the week, we are leaving Friday.  Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

A new activity

Well just time for a quickie, I am going golfing in about 5 minutes.  I am going to try to get more into it, I learned as a kid so know all the rules and how to play just never really liked it but with all my new time thought I would give it a whirl.  No time for a bike ride this morning maybe this afternoon.  Only playing 9 holes.  The weather here today is amazing, no clouds and about 82 - perfect.

Personal biking victory

Yesterday I went 25.1 miles on my bike, that is the longest ride so far this summer.  We were gone for 2 hours I stop for more breaks the longer the ride is.  There was a pretty good wind on the way down so I really worked pretty hard.  This morning I went for a 16 mile bike ride and that took me about 1 hour 15 minutes.  I did get the timing right it started to rain just as I was putting my bike away.  I am still struggling to get that scale to move but my friend who is in from oot is leaving today and I have no plans for meals out until we leave for Michigan on Friday.  So this is the week, we are going to get that next 3 pounds off and keep the scale moving in the right direction.

Happy 4th

Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday.  I managed a 20 mile ride yesterday and 21 this morning.  Just finished and I am off to the shower and then the farmers market, I am out of veg and fruit time to stock up.  No plans for the rest of the weekend so good eating here I come.  I am going to make a big chopped salad for lunch and grilling chicken for dinner.  That's it for now hope everyone is having a great weekend!

One day off

It was in the 60's here this morning - OK that is really strange for July but I took advantage and skipped the bike ride and went to the gym.  I did a quick 25 minutes of cardio and then a lot of work with weights for my arms.  My scale is still up 3 pounds so I have been pretty good today, a few extra bites but no drinks and I am staying home tonight while the DH goes out with some friends. We are going for a long ride tomorrow morning.  We are going to a BBQ tomorrow so I need to really focus on staying away from big open bowls of food.  I am also going out for breakfast on Sunday but that is usually easy - oatmeal or yogurt & fruit.  I ended up having a big salad for dinner with some boiled potatoes, tuna, green beans and tomatoes - sort of Nicoise except no olives or capers.  I also made some No Pudge brownies that are cooling.  I also got a visit from A Flo early today so maybe my scale will go down in a couple of days.  Hope everyone has a good 4th.

It's my B-day

Well today is the big day and big thanks to everyone who sent me Brithday wishes.  I was really touched.  I typed up a post the other day and computer snafu it disappeared so that was annoying and I don't remember what I wrote.  The scale has not gone back down but yesterday was pre birthday dinner and today I am going out for drinks and apps so I don't think it will go down but after the birthday I am getting back to business on the eating side that is.  I have been still really hitting the biking hard, 1 hour 17 minutes today 16 miles and yesterday 1 hour 36 minutes 20 miles.  I have been logging my rides and I have ridden the last 9 days in a row.  Only one of the days was less than an hour.  Of course that does mean my gym time has been lax.  It looks like rain here which would really suck since my B-day drinks are outside on the patio of a restaurant.  I need to go find my outfit for tonight.  I went to lunch with the DH this afternoon and wore a really cute pair of new yellow linen pants.  Very summery.  They are still a little tight and especially after eating.  I am hoping for a cute dress for tonight.  Hope everyone is making fun 4th of July plans!!

Back on the wagon

Well today was great again but of course first I had to face the scale.  It was up 3.8 pounds.  Now mind you it took 3 days of really working hard and eating so well to lose 2.2 pounds but somehow I an gain 3.8 in one day.  Oy - anyway I still had a good day, went for a bike ride with my friend who is in town visiting.  not as fast as usual but still 16 miles.  She is probably a little sore but I am good.  I also walked around the zoo and did really well eating.  Breakfast was yogurt, Nutri muffin top and Blueberries.  Lunch was a salad - had a little shrimp and chicken with dressing on the side, I used a little of itbut it was mostly EVOO and then squeezed a bunch of lemon on it.  No bread or dessert.  Then for dinner a big salad with all veg and home made dressing - salsa, Fage 0%, ff mayo, and ff half & half.  grilled Elk - about 5 oz, and left over savory steel cut oat risotto.  So whole grain lean eat and veg.  For dessert I had berries with the Edy's light ice cream with Redi Whip - ff of course.  Tons of iced tea today.  So maybe the scale will go down .4 tomorrow.  I have an early ride planned tomorrow with the DH so hopefully some serious fat burning.  It is time for Taste of Chicago which is really just a bad eating fest and last year some people got salmonella.  My point is I don't usually go - too much mixing with the masses and the DH says but my friend is from oot and wants to go - oh the pain.  We are going out to dinner tomorrow night since she cannot come to my mini birthday party on Wednesday

Mixed feelings Sunday

Well the scale was down this morning back to the lowest weight I have had since being pregnant so that was great.  I went for a bike ride with the DH this morning and it was great until the end when he fell - he is fine but it messed up his bike.  We headed home because it was still ridable then as we got closer there is this bridge and he hit something and wouldn't you know it a flat tire.  OK that was the final straw he was p-----.  Totally understood, so I rode home as fast as I could to get the car and pick him up.  Luckily we did get in 1 hour and 25 minutes and 17 miles.  I have to take the bike to the shop tomorrow.

Well the other part, we had our group pot luck and of course I ate more that I should now the good news is I only had 2 meals today the bad news is of course I had wine so we shall see what the scale holds for us tomorrow.  It is my b-day on Wednesday and we planned a get together at a local bar/restaurant.  Outside in the garden part, drinks and apps.  My plan is to get past the birthday and then buckle down and get serious about getting this next 15 pounds off.  Oh - yes the brownies peanut butter ice cream sandwiches I made were amazing and everyone loved them, all were eaten.  I left the leftovers at my friends house and wrapped up the leftover brownies for the DH to take to work but there is 1/2 a pan of the sandwiches in the basement freezer, I may take them over to my niece's camp for the teachers. I did also give away 3 jars of the strawberry preserves that I had made to that was great.  I think everyone will like it.     I will report in tomorrow with the scale news.  All in all I had a great weekend so no complaints from me.  Oh - and if the Sox win in the next few minutes they will sweep the Cubs and the DH will be very  very happy

Rise and Shine

Well up super early today 5:45 - we hit the bike trail at 6:25.  Went for 1 hour 44 minutes, 18.1 miles.  Really nice ride the wind wasn't very strong so that made both ways enjoyable.  I even got to wear my new day glo green bike top.  By the time we got back the cleaning lady was here and still is so I am trying to get ready and hit the road.  I am off to have lunch with some old co-workers and then to the Apple store.  Tonight I am going out with another friend of mine.  Yesterday was great but the scale was only down .2 so I am really going to stick to it today too and the scale should have better results tomorrow.  I am getting my hair colored tomorrow and then we are going to a charity thing at Arlington Racetrack but no dinner plans so hopefully we can just chill and grill at home.  At some point today I have to get to the store to get ingredients to make Brownie Peanut Butter Ice Cream Sandwiches for a BBQ on Sunday.  It is literally next door so that is why I can take an ice cream dessert.  Everyone else volunteered for the sides and starters so I got dessert.  I will try to take pics of them.  Hope everyone is ready for a great summer weekend.
