Before After

rain maybe

Well I put off my bike ride because it looked like rain and guess what it hasn't rained, it is just really humid and gray but no rain I could have gone and been back by now.  I am going to go to the burbs to pick up a prescription and then see what it looks like when I get back.  I did really well at dinner out last night once again no drinks YEAH!!  I had edamame, about 7 pieces of sushi - mostly veg a couple smoked salmon I had cevice and then when we came home a little Edys ligh ice cream stuff.  Today the scale is down 1.9 pounds since my wi on Monday.  I am psyched, going back tomorrow for my official wi and today is totally on track, no dinner out the DH and I are going to a movie and that is always a big help for me I get out of the house(away from the food) and I can avoid the popcorn and by the time the movie is over and we get home so tired I go to bed.  We are planning on seeing Traitor looks good.  I am going for a walk later rain or no rain.  I am trying to figure out when to make a trip to the country.  I am a member of Slow Food and here in Chicago they have an event where you can go out to this real farm and Upick a bunch of veg - tomatoes, peppers, eggplant etc all for $20 a bushel.  I have been meaning to do some canning - salsa, relishes etc. and this would be perfect great veg and not sooo expensive like it is at the Farmers Market.  Can you tell I grew up in Iowa - yes I know how to can and actually have the equipment.  The humidity today actually reminds me of being a kid and being stuck in the kitchen freezing corn and making pickles. Hope everyone has great weekend plans

A good week

Well at my wi on Monday I was down .9 - and once again that was great considering the weekend I had so Very Happy.  My cousin, her husband and 3 kids were in to visit and they all stayed at my house.  We did have a great time though, the girls all went shopping on Saturday - I bought a whopping one lipgloss and one eyeliner.  My cousin and her girls found stuff though.    The DH and the boys went to the Red Bull Flutog - not sure on the spelling it is that thing where teams try to make something that will fly.  They also went to the Sox game and they won in like 14 innings.  The Sox and the Cubs are a big deal here right now because they are both in the lead of their respective divisions but it is close and they keep losing games - everyone is secretly hoping for the ultimate World Series in Chicago - that would be so huge.  Anyway on the exercise front still cranking along.  Went for bike rides all last week and my 2 kettle ball classes, I took Sat off but back on the bike on Sunday and every day since.  I also went to my class on Tues and really wasn't that sore.  I am going in about an hour and I am guessing he will work us harder today.  I have also already been for a quick 12 mile ride this morning, the wind was really strong so the ride down was really slow and hard and then when we turned around oooh - such a breeze, I was going 20 mph with hardly any effort.

I have been sticking to the Jenny plan since Monday and that is going great, went out for dinner last night and I stuck with our pregnant friend and had iced tea - big victory for me.  I also had a salad 1 roll and halibut with asparagus.  Tonight going out for sushi and again I have a friend who can't drink for medical reasons so I am not either also it is BYOB and having the DH bring beer since I don't like that anyway.  Then no meals out on Fri and my wi is on Sat this week.  I am off to NYC next Thursday so I won't be back to JC for probably about 2 weeks.  I am getting so close to fitting into those size 12 pants - I would love to buy some new jeans in NYC!!

A painful ride

Well the kettleball class is causing plenty of soreness, my legs were killing me but since it rained all day and night yesterday I was dying to get out on my bike.  I went for a 17 mile ride but it pretty much hurt in my thighs the whole time, that was such a buzz kill but luckily I am not going back to class until Tuesday.  Yesterday was another killer day with eating, 1300 calories so what do I get for all my effort oh I gained 3 pounds.  There is really no reason but just trying to stay on track today until my cousin comes tonight, we are grilling.  I have to go finish making salsa, marinating the pork and bake a cake.  Hope everyone if glad it is Friday!!

Finally rain

Well I must have talked up the rain because it is finally raining and supposed to all day.  So that means no bike ride today and I even managed to take it to the bike shop last night for the 1 month tune up - it has probably been about 2 or 2.5 months.  I just crossed the 1000 mile mark on my bike computer too.  I am off to the gym for my kettleball class in 10 minutes and I will probably do some eliptical after since no bike cardio today.  I have been busy working on salsa and some sauces for a Bobby Flay recipe that I am making for Fri night when the cousin is in town, a grilled pork tenderloin, grilled corn and a tomato, avocado, and onion salad.  Also baking scones for Sunday brunch later today.

Yesterday was another great eating day, no wine either unfortunately the scale was up .5 a pound.  Maybe it is the muscles being sore anyway I feel better now than I did last night which is good because it would have been a very painful class, now I think I can manage and then I have 5 days to rest before the next class.  I have been getting trhough all my JC food which is great, last night I had the lasagna, I add tomato, green pepper, and onion from the garden.

Weekly Update

Well Wednesday seems to be my blog day.  My wi at JC went OK down .8 on Sunday that was pretty good considering I only ate 2 dinners at home in a week and there was plenty of wine involved.  Still hitting the bike, a couple of 30 mile days and mostly 20ish on the rest.  I started a new kettleball class yesterday, I am sore today and I go again tomorrow, for 8 weeks, Tues and Thurs.  I sort of liked it, they incorporate cardio too - kind of strange after everyone who is taking the class said they do a lot of cardio on their won and were looking to do strenght stuff.  Oh well, hopefully that will help whip me into shape.  Eating has been great for the last 2 days and tomorrow no plans but my cousin is coming in for the weekend and I will really have to watch it, I am going into JC on Monday morning and hoping to be down a pound.  The weather has been great here, every day when they say it may rain it never does.  That is all for now, still really hoping to get back here before next week.

Sticking with it

Well this has turned into a challenging few days.  I had my weigh in at JC on Sunday and I was down 1.4 pounds which was great considering it was the middle of TOM.  Sunday turned into festival day which was really fun, first we went to one near our house with our friends, I had 2 small pork tacos - not fried so a decent choice.  They had a ton of great art vendors, I really liked all the jewelry and ended up buying a bracelet.  Then we came home and went to the Whole Foods fest, tons of free samples both to take with and eat there.  Still on plan with the no wine.  We ended up walking and walking and this was after we had been for a 15 mile ride in the morning.  Then we left there to go back to the festival near the house since my cousin's band was playing and his sisters kids were in town to visit and I wanted to see them, they are 13 and 11 and great kids.  So I ended up having a couple of wine things - it was called sangria but I think it was just wine on ice with a little fruit but it was fine, better than beer for me.  After the fest at 8 we went out for dinner and I had the skirt steak and shared flatbread with the DH but had another glass of wine.  Well the next day the scale was the same so that was good but ended up going to my Aunt's for a BBQ on Monday night and then over to a friends house for dinner Tuesday so more wine.  Tonight I am finally home and got a good eating day in, 1600 calories.  I have been really hitting the biking hard and I am bummed out that I haven't stuck with the eating because I would have seen a big drop but instead I am up 1.5 pounds so I am happy to have had a great day today and need to keep going, I have dinners out planned for every day until my weigh in.  Thurs-Sat and then going to Ravinia for the last time Sunday.

I went for 2 rides yesterday and logged 30 miles total 2 hours 15 minutes.  Today only 20 miles and it took 1 hour 35 minutes.  I am going early for a ride tomorrow and then with the DH in the afternoon.  I also got my hair japanese straightened - I am soooo happy, I cannot believe how easy it is now, I love it.  No friz not even on the most humid days.  I will post a picture some time.  I also got an iphone and have been trying to get used to that and all the things I can do.  Well I think that catches me up, sorry for the spotty posting I swear I am trying to get to everyone's blogs

Progress finally

I have been so busy I have really been lacking in the blogging department.  I went to JC 2 Thursday's ago right before my cousin gotinto toown for a funeral.  So I did not get to stick with it much for the 1st 2 days but was pretty good the week after.  I went back in on Saturday so 9 days later and I was down 3.8 pounds.  So finally progress.  That night I had to go to a party - yes I was tied up and dragged.  Of course over ate and drank but back on track 1st thing Sunday and as of this morning I am down another 1.5,  this has been a really good 4 days, only 1 meal out and no drinking.  I am also on track for the rest of the week and I am going back on Sun morning to weigh in.    I have been really hitting the biking.  23 miles Sat 26.25 - an all time high and then gym Mon and 18 miles Tues and 21 today.  The DH crashed again on Sun so he is out of commission for a while.  Hurt his sholder but will be OK.  I have to run but hope to back here tomorrow to update and get better about posting every day.  Hope everyone is having a great week!!

I have been on my bike for the last 4 days, all 20 miles except Sat was only 17 miles.  I also finally got to Jenny Craig last Thursday - the day of the wake.  I haven't had a whole day with it yet until today so hopefully I can string a couple more on plan days together.  I am going back in on Sat hoping to be down a couple pounds.  I have plenty of work to do, the family stuff did not help in the weight loss department I am still up a pound down a pound.

The dh and I went to the Sheryl Crow concert last night, she was great and James Blunt opened.  Really nice night at Ravinia, it was a little cooler I actually got to wear a long sleeved linen & silk sweater.  Ate too much cheese but I had made this really good quinoa salad from the Women's Health Mag.  Very tasty, Quinoa, green onion, lime juice, curry, carrots, raisins, almonds - left those out the DH doesn't like, I think that was it but very tasty Sunday and today.  I did get a new iPhone when I was in Philly, I need to get to the Apple store to get my questions answered and take my mac air too.  I am gong to be able to bike every day this week unless there is rain I am just trying to fit in another ab workout.  I managed to do arm stuff today too.  I am gong to the conservatory with my Mom tomorrow, but eating my Jenny Craig lunch first.  My Mom entered into a group pool/bet with my cousin and Aunt to see who could lose the most weight by X mas.  Well I think she is losing the bet that is, my cousin has lost 13 pounds - since the beg of June.  I don't think my Mom has lost any, she needs to lay off the drinks and really could lose some for her health.  She is 65 and probably getting close to 300.  She has some funky food ideas - you know potato chips are better than pineapple because pineapple has all those carbs.  I am going to try to get caught up on everyone's blogs.

Great Philly trip

Well it seemed so quick, I was in Philly and then back.  We had a great time.  Fri night we went to Vetri - it was very yummy.  10 courses or so I took pics I will post later.  I have been detoxing since yesterday.  I had wine fri, sat, and sun - that is really a lot.  We went to a party on Sat night and Sun night my other cousin and her 2 daughters came over and we cooked.  It was really nice, my cousin's husband is a wonderful cook, we had a great salad, grilled pizza, fig with proscutto and motzerella.  Sorry about the spelling, I am in a hurry and can't look up the correct spelling.  We also had shrimp oreganto and a pasta that was a fat buster, olive oil, brie, tomatoes, basil, onion, and garlic,  It was delicious but I have been a really good girl Mon and Tues.  I did not weigh this morning since and air travel always equals weight gain.  I will see where I am tomorrow.  I also am going into JC on Thursday.  I have been trying to make room in my freezer, had a lean pocket for lunch.

On a really sad note one of my cousins who was only 48 died in his sleep on Sat night so my cousin from Philly is actually flying in on Thurs we are going to the wake and funeral Thurs and Fri.  I went to the gym this morning because it was drizzling, got in 30 minutes of treadmill and 40 minutes of ab work.  I also went for a bike ride in the afternoon 17 miles 1 hour 25 minutes.  Planning on going first thing in the morning too, I have to drive to central ILL to visit a friend after I drop the DH off at work.  So gotta run, I am baking for my aunt for the wake and funeral.
