Before After

Bad beginning

Just dropping in to report that this year has gotten off to a very BAD start for me.  Sadly to say I have a protruding disc in my neck that has become inflamed and is keeping me in horrific pain most of the time.  It mainly effects by neck and head and causes so much discomfort that I find it hard to sit, stand or lie down.

At this point I would just like to ask that you say a prayer for me to recover without having to have some type of surgery and then I will get back to the "matter at hand" which is losing some weight.

I do sincerely hope each of you have had a better start to your new year and I will maintain the hope that since mine got off to such a "painful" start that it will surely get much better as the year goes on.

Blessings to each of you my friends

Better Choices

No New Years resolutions for me this year as I am like Zed42, I don't want to set myself up for "immediate" failure by making strict resolutions instead I am making "generalized" plans for the year 2010.

1)  Get to a healthy weight for me which should range from 133 to 137.  Not giving myself a time to have this accompolished just saying I want to accomplish reaching this healthy weight in 2010.

2)  Do some sort of exercise "everyday" no matter if it is just a walk or hand weights or calisthetics.....just do something physical everyday.  No time frame here either as I know that would be a set-up for failure, right now I am just saying "something physical"

3)  Get my blood sugar under control!!!  Earlier this year my Dr. told me that I am borderline diabetic but that with diet and exercise I could "possibly" get this under control, however, I have not been doing very much to accomplish that and the numbers have really reflected my failure to do so in the last 6 weeks.

4)  Give up alcohol!!!  that is a major for me as my Dr. told me I HAVE to give it up due to health problems such as high triglycerides, high cholestrol, high blood sugar, overweight, liver damage......get the idea here.......need to give the GOOD stuff completely UP!!!

5)  Spend more time meditating on God's word and his desires for my life and the things He wants me to accomplish during this New Year of 2010.

Happy New Year and be blessed my dear EP friends!!

Sledgehammer

Anyone remember that song?  Awesome song from the 80's and I loved it and the beat.....what made me think of that particular song???? well, let's see, maybe, just maybe because a friend posted the link to it tonight on Facebook..  :)  ;)

Ok, now on to weight loss issues.  Today was a better day food wise and I did have a little better water intake.  I just want all of this sweet "crapola" out of my house.  I have absolutely blown my body out of site with this holiday stuff since Thanksgiving and do you realize that is 30+ days that I have been eating like a garbage disposal person??  You know this has to be some sort of "mental" thing that makes us do this sorta crap to our bodies.  I grew up very, very poor and we never had a lot of sweets around until my mother baked cake on Sundays and with 9 siblings, parents,, grandmother and other relatives around.......well, 1 cake didn't go very far, so, sometimes I think that might be the root of my problem!!  When I do get a chance to have an abundance of food I just go overboard or as some would say......"I mentally lose it and go apeshit".......who knows how our human minds work!!!!

But, at any rate, today was a minor accomplishment for me as I have been totally out of control for over 30 days.  Got a lot of "construction repair" to do.  Be blessed my friends

Shortest Day

Listen up guys, we have gone past the shortest day of the year and now we are on the uphill climb to days having more daylight meaning also more time to be outside and exercise in fresh air the way "exercising" is meant to be done.  I AM EXCITED or can you tell.  I hate winter and I hate the short days because they can easily become depressing.

OK, 2010 is going to be OUR year with tons up weight loss, tons of success and WE ARE EXCITED!!

Be blessed and everyone have a Merry Christmas or a Happy Hannukah and spend some time being thankful for all the many things we have to be thankful for.  Watch everything you put into your mouth and make sure that it is good and healthy and not bad for your body.

New Year, New Me, New Life

I sorta gave Zed42 a challenge to "make a deal" with me and if anyone else wants to join in please do.

Here's the deal.......one year from now we will post on our blog the following:  "2010 was the most successful and wonderful year for me as I reached my goal weight and have maintained it for 6 months and this year was very successful for me in my weight, my dreams, my life in general".

We can make every bit of that come true with a lot of work, support, good mental attitude and determination on our part.

Look you guys I am 65 so I don't have a whole lotta years left to be that success.

Be blessed today my friends

In Search of the Year 2009!

It is gone!! yes, 2009 is almost gone and I am no closer to reaching my goal than I was at this same time last year

Good Morning

Well, it has been 7 days since I posted and I didn't realize that.  Time flys when you get older .  So much has been going on lately and I really don't like living life that fast but sometimes we have no choice.  I am off for the next 3 days and have to go to Eufaula today because hubby and I both have doctors appointments tomorrow and we are going this morning so we can visit the grandsons, daughter and son-in-law.   Are we sick?????  NO, but doctors won't give you refills on meds unless you pay them a visit every once in a while, now,  I truly understand this....I think!!  But it is a pain in the butt sometimes and I blame these sort of visits for causing increasing health care prices.  My insurance will have to pay the doctor for the visit and I really don't need to see him because I am not sick!!  The meds are the same ones I have been taking for 15+ years, you know the kind, hormones, cholestrol, high blood pressure....all of that is under control and the cholestrol and high blood pressure is hereditary and even with my healthy eating and exercise I still needed the added synthetic meds....but sick...NO I AM NOT SICK.... I actually feel awesome.

I have lost another pound and I still have more to go.  But, I am feeling fine already and I am now in the healthy BMI range although it be the upper end of healthy.

Gotta run and get a few things thrown in the overnight bag and head out as it is a 3 hour drive and rain is predicted.

Blessings, Chargail

I OBJECT

I adamently object to people using the word "menopot"....have you ever heard such a disgusting word??? Just because a "senior sexy woman" has a little tummy pouch it is now referred to as a "MENOPOT"....well, let it be known here and now that I OBJECT!!!! This is the type language that makes women in their mature years appear less desirable.....this is the type lauguage that immediately causes people to visualize a mature woman as being OLD, OVER THE HILL, PUT OUT TO PASTURE, PAST HOT SEX AGE, UNSENSUAL, etc.....GET REAL world, we have a little tummy pouch that once was deemed DESIRABLE to touch when we were in our 20's to 40's....go on "TOUCH IT" and you will find it is just as desirable now as it was when we were in our 20's.

Let it go on record now that I OBJECT to some of the terminology that people use to describe "we mature ladies".....ask my husband and he will tell you that I am more sexy and desirable now than I was in my 40's!!!!

Weight wise I am down a few more ounces!!!  Been having several days of on track eating, however, not so much so in exercise as we have been working the past 3 days and they were BUSY!!  Will do better today if the rain holds off.

I hope EVERY MOTHER on EP is having a wonderful Mother's Day.  Many blessings to each of you.  Chargail

Yoga & Book

Hi EP friends, well I am still using my "yoga toes" gadgets daily and I will say once again that I do LOOOOOVE the way they make my toes feel after they get a good long stretch.  Awesome feel.

Has anyone read "The Shack"???  It is a WONDERFUL book.  It is the kind of book that once you start reading you don't want it to end because you don't want to lose that safe, loved, mystical feel that reading the book gives you.  I talked to my daughter in Indy last week and was telling her about it and she said that everyone she heard talking about it said almost the same thing that I was saying.......READ IT people...it is so good.

Went back to visit the friends that live outside Chattanooga and had a wonderful time and came back with a few ounces of lost fat....a person could learn a lot from eating out with them at a buffet.  They choose mostly vegetables and very small portions at that, so I chose my food as they did plus I got in a lot of physical activity and came home with a slight loss....HOW MUCH  BETTER CAN IT BE!!!  getting to visit friends, enjoy myself, good foods and still lose a little.

I do need to have a few very serious days of control and get even a few more ounces off...know why????...those ounces add up to being pounds.

Blessings everyone for a safe, healthy and happy weekend.  Chargail

Yoga Toes

Yes, I am trying to acquire yoga toes.  I went to Riteaid today and found "Flex-Tastic"....The Secret to Healthier Feet!!!   OK, let's see.  I tried them tonight and I must say my feet and toes feel great after about 10 minutes of wearing them.  At first it was tough to get my last two little piggies in the holes but I kept shoving them in until they finally stayed.

Before I put the "what ever you call them" on my foot my toes were really scrunched together but after 10 minutes they are all flared out and FEELING GOOD!  I think my $10 investment just might be worth it's money.  I have seen advertisements for the plastic jobby that they call "Yoga Toes" but it was much higher than what I bought today.

My weight is down a few ounces today and I am very pleased as I felt so certain that after eating off plan some of the time we were visiting friends that the scale would go up....thank God it is still going down.

We are going back to help our friends "on their mountain" tomorrow and will be gone until Thursday.  Looking forward to being there again.

Hubby and I have an anniversay coming up on the 27th of May and we have been tossing around the idea of going to Chattanooga for a couple of days of "hot 26th" celebration.  It has been "v+q+%" years since I went to Ruby Falls, Lookout Mountain, etc and we thought it would be fun to do that for our anniversay.  Now to start putting plans into action.  A must is a room with a jacuzzi and a great view...and some wild sex...DID YOU REALLY THINK I WOULD FORGET THE MOST IMPORTANT PART??????

I gotta get out of here, blessings to each of you.  Chargail
