I know I wrote at least two blogs that are just GONE. Both had recipes and I think one of them even had a couple of comments (but I could be hallucinating about that). Tell me I'm not the only one!!!!!
Not much happening in my corner of the world. The weather has finally gotten fall-ish, though we are admitedly still wearing shorts and tanks around the house. I do make the kids put on pants or capris when we go out - but only because it's November and seems like something we should do LOL I have to say, FL weather definitely agrees with me.
I got "Just My Size Yoga" from NetFlix today and can't wait to try it out. It's supposed to be beginning yoga for the plus-sized set so I'm hoping it will be useful. I keep hearing what a great workout it is, but there's just no way I can contort my body the way some of those oh so skinny minis do. So I thought a video with other fluffy chicas might be a good place to start. I'll let you know.
TOM finally showed up after a 9 week absence (and yeah, I got about 9 BFN's during the hiatus too LOL). It's kicking my hiney this week, but hopefully I'll have a good loss come Friday morning.
Not much else to report. Just the same old, same old at my house. Hopefully my other blogs will show back up. If not, I'll repost the recipes for the cheese soup and pumpkin fluff dessert. I really think I might be losing my mind!!!!!
I only have a minute, but I wanted to get in my daily post :) I had a 1 pound loss this week which truly made me smile
I'm going to the grocery store tomorrow - need to stock up on everything *sigh* Seems like I ALWAYS need groceries! I'll post the soup recipe sometime this weekend, but it is TASTY if you are a fan of broc cheese soup.
I'll stop by later this weekend to see what you have all been up to. This week was super crazy for me - next week should be calmer.
I got up early this morning (partly because my husband thinks he should use the snooze alarm for an hour and partly because it was my PLAN )...Anyway, I got up early this morning and did 35 minutes on the elliptical and another 25 minutes on the stability ball. Had fun (sorta) and felt strong. Most of all, I was just happy to start my day in a healthful way.
I decided to blow the dust off the last week and start fresh today. I'm going to stop at the store (today or tomorrow) and pick up the ingredients for 2 pt cheesey broccoli soup because this cooler weather is fueling my cheese cravings.
Anyone tried this workou www.hoopnotica.com or something similar? Yeah, it's basically aerobic hula hooping - but you know, I am SERIOUSLY considering it! I think the girls would stop cringing at the dreaded "E" word if I could find something they enjoy and we could all do together (except for Dad - can't see him hula hooping ).
I gave The Biggest Loser Workout a shot tonight and wasn't all that thrilled. Oh, Bob was all pretty to look at and I was sweaty within the first 10 minutes, but I really prefer a more dance aerobics style workout - it feels less like exercise and more like fun. I did Sweatin' in the Spirit (Donna Richards, I think???) a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it but it did get old after awhile. I think I need a collection of aerobics videos that I can rotate through to fight the boredom factor. I put Richard Simmons in my NetFlix queue (among others) and now I'm going to look for some sort of Country Line Dance video. I know nothing about country music or line dancing, but doesn't it sound kind of fun?
While I'm kinda sorta on the subject of The Biggest Loser, could you believe tonight's show???? If I were there, I think I might have seriously injured that guy - or made a feeble attempt at it since he's like twice my size I was thrilled to see how well Jez did at home, but *sheesh* he was sooooo used and abused tonight. The "game" aspect is what is wrong with that show. I wish everyone would just give it their best shot and then let the cards fall where they may. I know this is more interesting to the public - but I think those of us who need to lose a lot of lbs are really frustrated by seeing someone pack on the pounds on purpose.
And no, I did NOT get my computer updated this weekend. I only bought one memory card and should have bought two. Whatever. At least I can still get online...even if it takes 10 minutes for AOL to "welcome" me I'll try again in a few weeks.
Food wise, this has been a sucky week and a gain or maintain on Friday wouldn't surprise me. I don't know why I sabotage myself like I do, but 'just one day' ALWAYS turns into 2 or 3 or 4 for me. *gah!* When will I learn? I'm still workin' it though. Drinking my water, getting my exercise, paying attention to hunger cues, but not always making the best food choices. I long for the day when eating a salad at a restaurant doesn't feel like punishment. Someday I'll get there. Until then I can only take it one meal at a time and try to find ways to satisfy my palate and my food journal!
Hope you are all having a great week. It's about to get insanely busy for me. I've got something going on every day for the next 5 days, but I should be able to at least poke my head in a few times between now and Sunday. Tomorrow is the big candy exchange with our homeschool group *ugh* Can't wait I shall overcome. I shall overcome. I SHALL overcome...
Busy, rainy day in our neck of the woods. We ran lots and lots and lots of errands today, but it was all stuff that needed doing and now we have nothing to do tomorrow - which ain't a bad thing! I posted a 2 pound loss at WI and am ready to hit it hard again this week.
In unrelated news, I am going to try to upgrade my puter's memory this weekend so if I'm not around for a couple of days, you'll know that I somehow mucked it up! Wish me luck!!!!
Yesterday was another good day, though I still struggled with late night snacking. I had low point snacks and made sure to follow my hunger cues so I wasn't eating out of boredom, but I would still be better served by going to sleep
B: 2 egg omelette with 2oz ham and 1 wedge LC cheese, FF milk
L: soup, salad, FF milk
D: Taco salad, Pepsi
Snacks: 2 100 cal Packs, Baked Doritoes, 2 lite hot dogs on WW buns, Pepsi
I also did another 65 minutes on the elliptical and had 3118 on my pedometer for a grand stepping total of 18,458.
I got The Biggest Loser Workout through NetFlix and am going to give that a try today (I hope!). I really prefer more dance aerobics style workouts, but I've heard good things about this one so I'll try it out. Looking at Bob's smiling face for an hour can't ever be a bad thing
I can't believe it's taken me an entire month to get back here!!! I'm such a horrible blogger. Things have been interesting around my house, but nothing really exciting to report on. We've been enjoying the slightly cooler temps, went to see a boat launch, hung out at the state park, spent some time at the beach, did school work, went to co op, all the usual fun family stuff.
As far as WW and weight loss is concerned, I've basically been maintaining - which is great if you're at goal, but not so good when you have 100 pounds to lose! It's all good though. I'm back at meetings, watching my diet and exercising nearly every day. I haven't had my 2nd WI yet, but I'm hoping to have dropped quite a few lbs this week. I am vowing to report in every day from now on. I need to!
Yesterday I had a great day with both food and exercise. I love it when the planets are all properly alligned like that :)
B: oatmeal w/FF milk and 2 tsp sugar
L: 2 pcs veggie pizza & 12 oz Pepsi
D: veggie beef soup, salad and baked potato w/ICBINB spray and FF sour cream and FF milk
S: fruits and veggies throughout the day
I also managed to get in 65 minutes on the elliptical and another 3404 steps on the pedometer for a combined step total of 18,744.
I am wiped out! My inlaws made a short-notice visit which gave me one week to organize our lives before they showed up on our door step. We had a nice week-long visit, but I'm pretty worn out after 2 weeks of crazniess. We are trying to settle back into our normal routine, but we are all pretty worn out. The good news is that I lost 2 pounds during all that craziness and have an even stronger resolve to LOSE THIS WEIGHT!
Speaking of weight loss, The new season of The Biggest Loser starts this week and I can't wait to watch. I missed the reunion show, but heard it wasn't all that exciting anyway. I still stand by my original impression of the show - that it's less difficult to lose weight when you are "working" at it 24/7 - with the benefit of a 24 hour gym, nutritionists, someone else to grocery shop for you and no kids, spouses or housework/job to distract you. I also get sooooo irritated when they cry about ONLY losing 5 pounds in a week *sigh* But, it's not REAL life and as the reunion show indicated, that kind of weightloss is not any easier to maintain than what normal "losers" deal with. HOWEVER, I do get quite a bit of motivation by watching that show - I figure if a 450# guy can hoof it up the mountain then I can certainly make it a couple of miles on the elliptical.
I alo heard that Rachel Ray will be doing more healthy kid friendly meals this season. Can't wait to check that out too.
I tried a new-to-me recipe while the inlaws were here...and it wasn't FISH! LOL It was very tastey though and got rave reviews from the whole family (even the kidlets)
Chicken Cordon Bleu
4 4 oz skinless boneless chicken breasts pounded thin
8 pieces thinly sliced honey ham
4 wedges Laughing Cow cheese
1/2 package Shake & Bake
chopped chives (optional)
Preheat oven to 400. Pound out hte chicken until they are about 1/4" thickness. Place 2 slices of ham per chicken and 1 wedge of LC cheese and some chopped chives (optional) on each breast. Roll up the chicken and secure with tooth picks. Try not to let any ham show because it will get crispy during baking. Place in a Pam sprayedbaking dish and sprinly tops with Shake & Bake. Bake 35-45 minutes depending on thickness of chicken and ham.
***I made changes (of course!). I used chicken tenders instead of breasts - 2 per serving (8 total tenders). I pounded them thin and then placed the ham and about 1/2 wedge of Laughing Cow cheese on 4 tenders and then topped with the other 4 tenders and sprinkled on the Shake & Bake. I can't remember how long they cooked - roughly 30 minutes though.
I admit it, I'm a thief!!! I have no idea who originally wrote this, but I LOVE it. Hope someone else gets some use out of it. ~ P
STAGE #1: Honeymoon. When you're in the Honeymoon stage, you feel eager to do whatever it takes to lose weight. You can't wait to get to your goal, and you feel completely committed to your efforts. You probably always stay within your points Target and, control your portion sizes. And it's likely that you track everything you eat in your Tracker, plan your meals and exercise. Keep it up!
STAGE #2: The Thrill Is Gone. This is the most frustrating stage. You may be saying: Why do I have to be so careful? It doesn't seem like it's working. Why can other people eat what they want and still stay thin? Why can't it happen faster? If you're at this stage, stick with it. Do what it takes to get the support you need, and see if you can reconnect with the reasons you decided to lose weight in the first place. Review your materials you'll learn something new you didn't know before. Try new foods in your day or a new recipe
STAGE #3: Renewed Resolve. This is the time when you have a clearer set of expectations, with the added benefit of understanding how the process works. When you're at this stage, you know that weight-loss doesn't come easily, and you're prepared to work hard. You're ready to be more consistent about exercising, tracking your point values, controlling your portion sizes and everything else that goes along with building healthy new habits.
STAGE #4: Lifestyle Change. At this stage, you keep up your new habits even when you've had a bad day or week. You cope with stress and emotions in a healthy way. And you're always on the lookout for healthy things to eat, and for ways to get in extra exercise. This is a great place to be!
In my quest to find some sort of balance in my life, I've been spending less time on the Internet and more time reading (serenity now! serenity now!) or sleeping (ahhhhhhh!). And it worked. I do feel better about things and definintely more balanced. Of course I am still WAY behind on laundry and projects, but I don't feel like pulling my hair out so much these days. So it's a good thing.
Unfortunately, I did spend about a week and a half in total food denial and managed to put on a few pounds that I really didn't need to get back. I'll WI tomorrow morning and know exactly where I stand, but for now let's just say it's probably not going to be pretty.
On the bright side, I've been exercising again! Believe it or not, this 'soooooooo not a morning person' has been getting up between 5:30 and 6AM to spend time reading the Bible and then working out before the kids get up. It's been blissful *gasp* I will admit to sleeping in today though - thanks to a nasty migraine - but tomorrow I'll be up early once again and will enjoy my time on the elliptical.
Thanks to those of you who checked up on me. You are so sweet to have thought of me!!! You have no idea how happy I was to see your messages. (((HUGS))) I am back now though! I'm not sure I can post every day, but I will certainly try because it's so much easier to stay on track when I know there are people out there cheering me on. You guys are the BEST *smooch*
A recipe before I run off to see what you have been up to:
Lemon Lime Tilapia
Preheat oven to 475*. Spray 9x13 pan with non stick spray.
marinade 4 4oz tilapia (any mild fish will do) filets in equal parts lemon and lime juice
In a separate dish, combine: 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon paprika 1 teaspoon onion powder 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 teaspoon basil (or italian seasoning) 2T dried parsley 2T minced onion (or 3T green onions)
Dredge both sides of the tilapia filets in seasoning and place in sprayed 9x13 baking dish. Bake at 475* for 6 minutes, flip and cook for 4 more minutes. Turn over one more time until filets are flaky (about 4 more minutes). Serve immediately.
I served the fish over brown rice mixed with stir fry veggies (sugar snap peas, mushy zuchini LOL, red peppers, broccoli, etc). It was super moist and flavorful and the kids loved it. They ate their portion and then went back for seconds (which rarely happens unless it's pizza night LOL)
