Needed A Change

Again, I had to change to this format because I woke up to 2 inches of snow this morning!  It was 40 when I got home from work yesterday.  I really thought winter may have been over here, but I guess not!

Yesterday was a really good day eating wise.  Only 1410 calories.  It may actually be a little higher cause I had to substitute in the recipe but I don't think it's much more. 

Breakfast: Apple cinnimon oatmeal, a cup of milk and coffe.

Snack: Sugar Free pudding

Lunch: Salad, turkey sandwich, string cheese

Dinner: 2 slices Pizza Margherita and a 1/4 cup pizza sauce for dipping.

I drank about 65 oz of water, not great but ok, and had around 4000 steps.  That wasn't great either, but it could have been worse.  I was so tired last night we went into the bedroom around 7.  At 9:30 I finally fell asleep and I still didn't want to get up this morning.  I hate feeling this tired!

Well it's going to be a busy day here at work so I better get going before my boss flips out on me!

It didn't happen

Me getting up early this morning that is.  Last night was the semi-finals for my pool league playoffs.  I just don't get it we came in 5th out of 8 teams and played terrible all year and now after winning 8 to 3 last night we are in the championship game next week.  So anyway I didn't even end up having to shoot last night cause the first team to win 8 games wins, but I was still there til almost 10.  Then DH got home about 11 and decided he was going to let the dogs out again.  Yeah well Toby, the pug got loose and was wondering down the street.  I'm so glad we live on a dead end and he always goes towards the dead end and not the main street.  Anyway I had to go get him, I never realized how long our road was until I walked it in my slippers.  Then I got into watching 8 Below.  Finally at midnight I made myself roll over and try to sleep.  Then DH woke me up a few times in the night because he was drunk and he sleeps weird and I think he got up and got sick, but I'm not sure.  So when the alarm went off I wasn't about to get up.  Finally at 5:40 I did.

I did ok with my eating yesterday.  I say ok because everything was "planned" but I had 3 pieces of pepperoni pizza at pool, yes it was planned, but I'm not really sure how many calories are in them.  Everything I've found is for a slice of a large pizza well these were slices of a sheet pizza.  Breakfast was typical english muffin and a grapefruit, lunch was a salad with lots of veggies and a Lean Cuisine Steakhouse flat bread, OMG was it amazing, one of those things you don't want to end.  And I managed to drink about 80 oz of water and had 6060 steps (before I had to go chase Toby).  So I looked in my book and it says 288 calories for about a 3 oz piece of pizza, based on that I consumed 1599 calories yesterday.  Not bad I don't think.

Now for a little rant, I got to work this morning and found that they are now blocking me from using photobucket!  Because it's a file sharing site.  I'm so mad, that's where I get all my pictures from!!!

What I really wanted

... was to get on here and tell you all about my new plan for working out and getting to the gym, but I don't have one yet.  For some reason I'm not feeling the motivation to get it done.  I think maybe DH and I need to sit down and talk about it.  I supose the gas wouldn't be so bad if I was driving myself to work, the hard part is that DH can't do my running around for me during the day if I have the Jeep here at work.  Maybe I can just start with my 20 minute work outs.  I think maybe tomorrow I will set my alarm for 4:30.  That way when I actually get up at 5 I should have just enough time to get the work out in.  It certainly will take some time to get my self used to that again. 

I just need to get motivated.  No one can make me start working out but me!  And I feel so much better when I do.  I would probably feel great about myself right now if I had been toning up my muscles already, but instead I still look at myself and say when am I going to feel better, even though I'm eating right.

Speaking of eating right, last nights dinner was amazing!!!  Chicken Parmesan and Roasted Veggies.  Even DH loved it, he ate so much he had a stomach ache.  I also had a proud moment while cooking dinner last night.  I picked up a hershey's kiss and started unwrapping it and I looked at it and said "I don't really want this."  and threw it away!  Then I had a weak moment during dinner.  I ate half of a second helping of chicken even though I wasn't hungry anymore.  It didn't put me over the edge and feel like I ate too much, but I do know that I wasn't feeling hungry when I ate it.  130 calories I didn't really need to eat.  All in all it was a decent day though, 1515 calories and 7650 steps.  I also need to work on my water in take.  I only drank 47oz yesterday and that's no where near enough.

Goals for the rest of the week:

  • Start getting up earlier each day. . . 20 minute cardio work out
  • Drink 70 oz of water a day
  • Plan Meals for the weekend
  • And of course eat 1600 calories or less ( I normally eat way less, but if I start working out I may need more to begin with)

Get My Butt in Gear

Well Yesterday was pretty good.  I actually ate less calories at each meal than planned, but I did slip up and eat the last Reese's Egg I had, but on the plus side, they are all gone now! 

I had a grape fruit and english muffin for breakfast.  A Cold Cut combo and salad for lunch and a serving of Old World Goulosh for dinner.  It took forever to cook, but man was it good.  I'm so glad I had all the veggies cut up already.  You cook it for 45 minutes twice before it's done!  And of course I had to divide it into two pots because DH doesn't like mushrooms and well, I love them.  I was still a little hungry when I was done, but I think it was in my head cause I went to bed and watched TV and I was fine.

Now for the title... I need to get my butt in gear and get back to the gym.  I think it would be much easier on me when I WI if I was exercising more cause right now I don't have anything to cushion the slip ups.  I'm a little excited cause my MIL is giving me her Gazelle machine.  Not what I really want, but it's free so I'll take it.  I really want to get an elliptical, but for free I'm not going to be picky.  I also still have a while left on my membership at the gym so I need to get back in the habit of going.  I guess it's mostly the price of gas the keeps me from going.  DH used to work right down the road so while I was waiting for him to get out of work I'd go work out, but DH doesn't work there anymore so now it's a drive across town in two different direction after he picks me up from work, I take him home and then drive to the gym.  Hopefully he gets his new job soon though so that he will be working between my work and the gym.  At least it's less gas.

It's been a few day

since I've been on here.  Well over a week actually, but I've been sick.  Started feeling sick the Thursday before last.  Didn't work Thursday, worked Friday and then laid low for the weekend.  Last Monday I worked but when Dh picked me up to go to the grocery store I had a headache and a sore throat.  By the time I got home I didn't feel like cooking and Tuesday morning I woke up with a temperature of 100.0 degrees and today is my first day back to work since then,  I had some form of the flu.  Fever, headache, body ache, sore throat.  I was miserable.  Didn't get out of bed for 3 days and then of course after eating nothing but chicken noodles soup for 3 days (literally) I was ready for some food.  Friday DH wanted pizza so that's what we got and I swear I just couldn't get enough.  I did force myself to stop though.  Then Saturday was ok, I had a sandwich for lunch and 1 serving of a Cheesey Chicken  Campbell's complete dinner.  Then of course Easter killed me.  DH started by insisting to make a home made McMuffin for breakfast with Bacon on the side.  So yeah one of those and 3 pieces of bacon later I felt terrible.  Then we got to my mom and she has snacks out, but I did good and only ate a few pieces of cheese and crackers.  Dinner was a Ham and mashed potatoes with Ham Gravy and corn.  I did ok there and stopped eating when I was full.  Of course that didn't stop me from eating the Reese's egg or the piece of cake that mom sent home with me.  I have to say that piece of cake was amazing though.  The frosting was just the right amount of sweetness. 

Well I'm feeling better now...for the most part... and getting back on track.  I already have all of the meat and veggies cut up for tonights dinner so I can work on planning the rest of the week while DH throughs it all together.

Hope everyone else is doing well, I have a lot of catching up to do!

Need Advice

So I want to start working out again.  I really want to be able to use my gym membership, but I don't know if that is going to work just yet.  We only have one vehicle so sharing gets hard and with the price of gas we don't need the extra driving when I can just as easily work out at home.  Now here comes the advice I need.  My toning videos have a log of lunges and squats to tone the legs, but they tend to hurt my knees.  I've tried different techniques to get them more comfortable, but nothing has worked so far.  Does some one have any advice as to how to make them better, or have a video they'd like to share that doesn't have too many of them?  The pain comes more after I'm done working out.  It feels like the two bones are rubbing on each other when I bend them.

Ok, as for food, I did pretty good yesterday!  I'm happy to report that I ate on plan and didn't even sneek in one of the mini-Reese's  Peanut butter cups like I normlly do.  And I'm making concious decisions about what is going to make me feel fuller with less calories.  I ate around 1400 calories yesterday and that's right where I'm supposed to be!

Volumetrics Eating Plan

Is there anyone else out there on this plan?  I just love it, but I know there are two books and I was wondering if there were defferent recipes in them.

Anyway, more pancakes for breakfast yesterday!  Lunch was left over Shepard's pie and a salad.  I went out on a limb for dinner last night and made Veggie pizza, it had things on it I had never eaten, but it was Great!  Now I just wish I could find the crust I'm really supposed to use and I'd be happy!  For Dessert I had Pineapple sorbet, only 81 caloires and it was store bought.

DH is sick and it's really frustrating cause he won't take meds except NyQuil at night and he wants to cuddle up to me and doesn't seem to understand that I can't chance getting sick.  I just don't have the time to take off of work.  I wish I had more time of of work that's for sure.

1st Weigh In

Well I'm happy to report that in the last week I lost 2.5 lbs!!!  And I haven't even started working out again yet.  I'm hoping to start working that in this week.  I really want to get back to the gym, especially since I have a year's membership, but that might have to wait until DH gets his job so we aren't traveling all over god's green earth.  The price of gas is just crazy.

So yesterday for Breakfast I had Fruit Smoothered Pancakes, all I can say is yuuummmmm!  Raspberry sauce and topped with raspberries and black berries, it calls for blueberries too but I don't really like them.  2 pancakes only 270 calories and they aren't dry or anything.  I don't even normally like pancakes.  For lunch I had a Tuna wrap, pretty good, not much difference in what I would normally have cause like veggies in my tuna.  And I made tortilla chips out of pita pockets and ate with my gazpacho soup, it was pretty good.  Then for dinner it was South of the Border Chicken Stew.  It was amazing!!!  Another thing DH loved.  And for dessert I had strawberries with Chocolate Fondue.

So I started to get stress yesterday because DH just laid on the couch all day and watched TV and played poker, then when I decided the stuff for dinner could wait and the laundry and that stuff so that I could go sit and watch the race with him for a bit, he passed out.  I was so mad.  I got up cause the dryer went off and when I got back he was all streched out and there was no where for me to sit, so I went to the bedroom watched the rest of the race while working on my sweater.  He comes in when the race is over and says "What are you doing?"  Like I just left him sitting out there.  I couldn't belive it.  So by then it was time to start dinner, which after only peelign half and onion he came out and finished for me.  It was nice, but at the same time I was still upset cause we really didn't spend any time together this weekend even though we did nothing but sit home.

Then this morning i was upset cause DH said he'd let the dogs out before he went to bed (it was late cause he took that nap)  well he must not have because I was woken up at 4:155 this morning and of course I've been up since then.  I'm exhausted and have a head ache.  My body doesn't run on 5 hours of sleep!

Well it's a busy day at work today so I better get going!

In the Kitchen All Day

Well at least that's the way I feel.  TOM arrived with the worst cramps at 6 this morning, so I've been up since then.  DH got up around 7:30 and we went to the grocery store around 8:30.  Then at 10 when we got home I started cutting up all the veggies for dinner and then made lunch.  I was exhausted so I napped from 1-4.  When I got up I made dinner.  I swear I feel like all I've really done all day is wash dishes and cook.  After dinner I watched some sports center with DH and then got up and made my dessert, but of course I had to do the dishes from dinner first.  I just hate trying to cook in a dirty kitchen, is anyone else like that?  I don't even like trying to make coffee when there is a bunch of dirty dishes.  I think part of that is because I don't really have much counter space.

Anyway on to my food for the day. . . all I can say is yummm!  I was a little bad yesterday (Frozen lasagna for dinner) so I skipped breakfast this morning.  For lunch I had a Buffalo chicken wrap, it was pretty good, I just didn't like the blue cheese dressing I have.  Anyone have a suggestion for a good reduced fat blue cheese?  And 3/4 c of greek salad.  It was pretty good but I had to use dried oregano instead of fresh so it wasn't as good as it could have been.  Then dinner was amazing, Shepard's Pie!  and DH loved it too.  The serving was huge and I still have enough left over for 2 lunches, or dinner or something cause I haven't even planned those for this comin week yet.  Ok and then for dinner, chocolate fondue!!!  with bananas.  You are supposed to serve it with 4 different fruits, but being that I was only having one serving I had the banana.  They also suggest apples, strawberries and pineapple.  I can't wait to try more!  And get this, I've only eaten 1200 calories.  I might have another serving of fondue, but I haven't decided yet.

The only thing I hate

about this new eating plan is that I have to waste money on all this produce to make things that I don't like.  In the end I think it will be worth it, but I just hate throwing out all this food! 

So yesterday was good though.  For lunch another muffin with swiss cheese, but I also had a Tropical Island Smoothie.  Only 165 calories.  It had mango, pineapple and coconut sorbet in it, it was amazing.  I'm so glad it makes 4 servings so I got to have another one today.  Lunch was left over Chicken Merlot and Gazpacho.  The Gazpacho is a cold spicy soup.  To me it is more like a salsa and that's the way I plan on using it from now on.  I can just spoon a bunch of cold cooked veggies in my mouth like that for some reason.  Dinner was Bakes Talapia with veggies and roasted potatoes.  It was amazing and even DH loved it!!!  I had a total of 1300 calories.  I was hungry at some points, but I was so busy at work I did't really have time to worry about it.  I had a snack of string cheese when I got home and that was fine til dinner.  Then after dinner I was stuffed.  .5 lb of fish with tomatoes, onions and green peppers and 1.5 red potatoes.  I think the lack of caloies came from not eating the Gazpacho for lunch and not replacing it with anything.  Oh well, I was satisfied.

I can't wait for this weekend to try out some more recipes that look amazing!  Hope everyone has a great day!
