New Day!
The good thing about mornings is that its a new day and we start off with a fresh, clean slate! Yesterday afternoon at work ended up being very stressful and I was pms'ing so I ate a lot of candy! I haven't done that in a while. Then I went to my parents and ate potato wedges and three buffalo wings. I don't know why I did it, while I was eating I was thinking- what am I doing?? I've got to learn to control my stress eating and learn to do something else instead.
But, today I woke up with a fresh start and waddled to boot camp! I've eaten on track so far today and I plan on taking a fruit tray to a friend's party tonight. I really wanted to take cheese dip, but I know I'll overindulge. I'm hoping Kroger has a nice fruit tray I can buy already, but if not I'll buy the fruit separately and prepare it.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Crampy
I ended up feeling horrible all day yesterday, but I sucked it up and went to boot camp anyways. It actually did help my head feel better but a little while. Although when I got home I realized why I probably have felt so bloated and crampy the past couple of days. I'm on this birth control where I only get my period every three months and yesterday was the day! So that's why I caved and ate two pieces of pizza that our department ordered in yesterday for lunch ;).
Today I am up one pound but I know that's from the water weight. I'm wearing my fat pants and I'm uncomfortable. Oh well. I'm debating on whether or not to run tonight or to make today an off day. I don't want to injure my knee again, but I need and want to run!
Happy Thursday!

Pain
I managed to do a short run yesterday- 3.5 miles. I was really wanting to do 5, but it was sooo hott. I ended up walking most of the last 1/2 mile I was so exhausted. This morning I was going to go to boot camp and attempt a two-a-day again, but I woke up with an excruciating headache. Plus my knee was killing me. In short, my body was screaming.. BREAK BREAK! So, I went back to sleep. I'll just do boot camp tonight and not push myself so extremely. Two years ago, I pushed myself through knee pain and ended up in physical therapy for months, I don't want to deal with that again and sideline my training.
I know the headache has to be from my sinus/allergy issues. I went to my ENT a week ago since my headaches are getting horrible again and my allergist had done all he could (weekly shots and tons of scrips). Turns out I have a sinus infection and didn't even know it. I go back in two weeks after taking antibiotics for a cat scan and then they'll decide what to do. I may need surgery, which is scary, but I'm so ready to be done with headaches. I've been dealing with them since I was 14! Anyone ever have sinus surgery?

Taco Salad
I went to boot camp twice again yesterday... go ME! But that left me so exhausted again (like last week) that I couldn't wake up early this morning to go run. So I am guessing that the day after my two-a-days I'll just have to resort to running after work. Which is fine, my body is just telling me it needs to rest a bit!
I met my sister and nephew today for lunch at a Mexican restaurant. I am very proud of myself- I had a salad. Granted it did have steak in it and I ate it with ranch dressing (on the side) but I was proud of myself for not going for the greasy enchiladas or burritos. I'm stuffed though, I should have stopped eating before I did. I have no idea how many calories was in it though, so I'm not sure what to put down in my food log. If anyone has a guesstimate, please let me know.
I also came across this great site- Hungry Girl- It has all kinds of great ideas for lower calorie food and how to stay on track with your eating. Check it out!
Happy Tuesday!

Monday Monday
I didn't do too hot this weekend. I ended up not running at all this weekend since I pushed myself so hard this past week. I did pilates on Saturday and that really helped loosen me up. Yesterday I overindulged at Sunday dinner at my parents' house. A peanut butter cookie and a slice of birthday cake! Oh well. I still lost a pound when I weighed myself yesterday. So down one pound from last week... yippee!
I went to boot camp this morning and I am planning on going again tonight. I really really want to get back to halfway-147- by the end of August. I hit halfway back in May, but I gained it back again. If I can just get there and continue to lose I'll finally feel like I am making progress.

Chick-fil-A
So, I just splurged calories at Chick-fil-A. I met my sister and nephew for lunch and by the time we got to go I was starving! I got the grilled chicken club sandwich. So yummy! I ate fries too
Shouldn't have done that. Now I am unpleasantly full. Once I got back to work I decided to look up the nutrition info on Chick-fil-A. Usually I get a wrap there, thinking that it is healthier and less calories. WRONG! The wraps have just as many calories as the fried chicken sandwich !! Granted, the wraps do have 4g of fat less than the sandwich, but still. I'm shocked!
So make sure to check the nutritional info on so called "healthy foods" before you chow down.

It must be the heat
Ok, I've decided that the sluggish way I've been feeling this week has to be because of the heat. We are on our 5th or 6th day (I've lost count!) of temperatures over 100 degrees. It's so bad, 7 people have died in Memphis alone from the severe heat. It's terrible.
And I've also pushed myself harder than ever before this week, this week of insanely hot temperatures. This morning in boot camp, I still felt like a slug. I rolled out of bed at 5:15 and drove out there. Fridays are always harder days we either "Go to Baghdad" or have a "Fun Run". Today was a fun run. For some reason I decided to wear a t-shirt today instead of my usual tank top. Bad decision. The shirt was too heavy and hot and sticky by the time the hour was over! We did 30 minutes of the regular stuff- crunches, push ups, bicep curls, tricep extensions, back extensions, etc and then the fun run began. Ten pushups, Twenty crunches, then a set of ten of this exercise with weights called swiss army knives. Then we started running. Up and down one set of stairs, up and down another set of stairs, up and down a three story flight of stairs then once around the entire parking lot. And then you do it again two more times. Luckily, today we ran out of time and most of us only did it twice. Seriously this morning I thought I was going to have to quit early for the first time. It was horrible. Not once today did I think it was "fun". Usually once I get into the swing of things at boot camp I really enjoy it. Not today. So, I am blaming it on the heat. Yes, its the heat. :)
For anyone who is in the Memphis area and interested in boot camp, here is the link- USMC Fitness Boot Camp. It's kind of pricey, but its definitely worth it! I would never ever push myself this hard while working out by myself at the gym.
I had originally planned to do another two-a-day today, but my grandma is coming into town tonight to take the family to dinner, so I'll be traipsing out to my parent's abode to join the crew. Hopefully we'll go somewhere that I can get something healthy and not one of those home-cooking fry everything places.
It's the weekend!! Yayay!

Felt like a slug
I ended up going to my parents' house for dinner tonight. My sister and nephew are in town for three months from England while my brother (AirForce) is deployed. My mom cooked spaghetti with whole wheat noodles. I ate a small portion of it along with a salad. It really filled me up! On the way home, I stopped by Shelby Farms and went for a quick 30 minute run. I felt like I was running so slow the whole time, I probably shouldn't have eaten something so heavy before running. But, at least I ran and didn't come straight home and sit on the couch!

Two-a-Day
So yesterday I went to boot camp twice! At 0530 and 1745. It seemed like a really good idea and I was excited to go ahead last night. But once I got there, I had a hard time getting going! The 107 degree weather probably played a factor in that. I upped my weights to 10 pounds on Monday and my arms were like spaghetti noodles at the end of class. But it was worth it. By the time it was over, I was so glad I had gone twice.
I ate well yesterday too, staying right at my caloric limit for the day. I was hungry, but I'm learning to listen to my body. What I perceive as hunger isn't necessarily hunger, its just that my body is used to being so full all the time! And last night I didn't eat anything after I ate my dinner. Usually I snack right before I go to bed, but I've got to kick that habit. So last night was the first night I kicked it! Going for night two tonight!
I was planning on getting up and running this morning, but my alarm went off and I could tell if I went, it wouldn't be a good run. I needed my sleep since the night before I only got three hours. I'm going to my parents' house tonight so I'll either walk/run with my mom or do pilates when I get home tonight. My muscles are kind of tight and sore from yesterday so I don't want to do too hard of a work out tonight. I plan on going to boot camp two times tomorrow as well. But, my mind may change by then! If I just go once tomorrow, I'll meet my goal of going 4x a week.

Goals
Besides wanting to lose weight, I have a couple of other goals I would like to accomplish. I put my goal date for my birthday next year, May 23, 2007. So, on my 26th birthday I want to be in incredible shape and able to kick some butt!
Goals:
1) Attend boot camp at least 4 times a week on the weeks I am in town. This will require me to double up one day. I already went to the 0530 class today and I plan on going again tonight. Once school starts back (working on my master's) I will double up on Mondays or Fridays.
2) Come in first place in my age group in the Tour d'Espirit 24 hour race in October. This race is a mile track that you can do however many times you want. Two years ago, I came in second place in my age group even though I had a knee injury. This year I want to come in first! So I am training this time! This race is near and dear to my heart, since I spent a few months teaching in Haiti in 2004.
3) Complete the St. Jude half-marathon in December. I've already started training for this following Jeff Galloway's method of running with walking breaks. So far, so good. I'm running on Tuesday/Thursday/Sunday. My off day from everything is Saturdays. I did this also in 2005 but I was just happy to finish that year, this year I am looking to have a decent time!
