Before After

Ay yi yi

Ok, so I've been in a downward spiral since getting back from Paris. Or I should say an upward weight spiral! I'm 4.7 pounds heavier than I was on July 1st. Oh well. I've been stressed with work the last couple of weeks and I've just come home and eaten a ton! Even with going to boot camp and running, I'm still gaining.

So, even though I was waiting to start back on Jenny Craig until I moved into my house next month, I went ahead and rejoined Tuesday night. All the food available to me at my parents house has been a downfall for me and I just can't control myself! Yesterday I did really well and ate on plan all day, even though I was hungry. Today is going great so far! I already did my run this morning. It's so hard to get up and do it, but I'm so glad afterwards to have my workout done for the day.

Back in the groove

Paris was fabulous!! I absolutely loved it. It was a great experience and I'd love to go back one day. I got back last Wednesday night but it took me until the weekend to start feeling normal again. I gained about 1.5 pounds in Paris, which really isn't that bad considering all the wine and fatty food I consumed! But I'm not recording it. I don't want to see the graph go up again! I went back to boot camp last night and it was the first time I'd worked out in two weeks. It was tough, but I have more energy today than I have in the last few days and I know it's because of the exercise.

Leaving on a jet plane

In less than 24 hours I'll be on my way to England! And great news is, I just got an email that I got a complimentary upgrade to first class for the first leg of my flight. Yippee! I have a six hour layover in Newark, NJ and I looked up the airport and they have a spa, I think I'll splurge and get a massage. I haven't had one in the two months since I moved back from Memphis. I get in to London at 7 am local time Thursday and then we leave for Paris at 3 am Friday! I'm so excited. I really hope I don't gain too much weight. I'm going to try to eat like the Parisians and enjoy the food but not overindulge. Good news is that I'm down 1.8 pounds this past week, which puts me at about an average of one pound a week for June, which is a good track for me.

Happy Fourth of July!

Neither up nor down

Well this week my weight is exactly the same. Which is weird, since I exercised the same and ate within my points values. Oh well, at least it wasn't a gain! This week will be my last full week before I leave for Paris on the 2nd, so I want it to go down a bit before I leave.

I went bike riding yesterday for an hour and I guess the sun was out more than I realized- I got a sunburn on my back! Considering I do all my workouts outside I was surprised to get burned. This week, I'm going to try to work out every day to some extent. Even if I feel lazy, just doing a quick bike ride is better than nothing.

NSV

Wow, I can't believe it's Wednesday already. This past week has flown by! I did have a one pound loss on my weigh in last weekend, so that's always great! I'm also doing well with my running and next week will be the last week of the Couch to 5k program then my mom and I are starting on training for the half-marathon in December. I'll have a week off in between though, I'm going to Paris July 2-9! Yay!

I did the Gibson Guitar 5k with a friend Friday night. It was her first race ever, so I stayed with her the whole time. It was my slowest time ever- 54:30. But since I was there for my friend I really didn't mind (ok, it was hard to go so slow- I'll admit it!)

My NSV for today was fitting into a shirt that was too tight six weeks ago! I pulled it out this morning, just wanting to see if it would fit... and it did! Even though I'm only about 4.5 pounds since I moved back, I can definitely tell that my clothes are fitting looser and that's always nice!

Victories

I forget every year how hot it gets here! Friday morning, we did Week 6, Day 3 of couch to 5k and it went well, despite the face that it was muggy at 6 am in the morning. I still didn’t think I’d be able to run the 25 minutes straight that is required of Week 7. Friday night I didn’t make it to boot camp… I got to go over to the model home and finalize my offer on the house! So exciting! I also got to go ahead and make all my selections for the house, including roof, bricks, carpet, hardwood, paint, etc. It was really fun. Now I just hope I still like everything once it is up!

Saturday was my off day last week. I weighed myself first thing, and I was down one pound from last week. Yay! We had to take my mom to the airport for her trip to England for the next six weeks to visit my sister and her family. I came back home and took a long nap and went to the Redbirds game that night. Luckily there was a nice breeze, so it wasn’t that hot sitting outside.

Yesterday I did Week 7, Day 1. It is a five minute warm-up, a 25 minute run, then a five minute cool down. I really didn’t think I would be able to do it. It was about 90 degrees when I started out. However, once I got started it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I had originally thought I would just jog 8 minutes, then walk a bit, then jog again. However, I was able to run 16 straight minutes before I thought I would pass out from the heat! Then I walked two minutes to quickly recover and ran the rest of the way! I figure if I make myself get up tomorrow morning I’ll be able to run the whole 25 minutes. It was definitely the heat yesterday that affected me. Tonight is boot camp… fun fun!

Still waiting

Well I put in an offer to build the house Monday night. The builder still hasn't gotten back to me. I hate waiting! Luckily, I haven't been pigging out which is normally what I usually do when I'm anxious. Yesterday I ate on plan all day. I went bike riding yesterday morning before work with my mom, which was nice. However for the rest of the day my right calf was really, really sore. I don't know if was from the bike riding or the calf raises we did in boot camp Monday night.

This morning we did Week 6 Day 2 of couch to 5k. It went really well. Tonight I'm going to boot camp and hopefully by then I'll hear about my offer!

It's Hot

Saturday was Week 5 Day 3 of Couch to 5k. The other two days hadn't been that hard, but my mom and I had run at 6 am before work. Saturday we went out to Shelby Farms but we didn't get there until 10:30. I had a really hard time with the run since it was so hot and muggy. During one of the last run portions I had to stop and walk for about 30 seconds, I felt really faint and dizzy. The heat really does make a difference in my performance. I was also still really sore from boot camp the night before.

I stayed on track with my eating this weekend. Yesterday we went out to eat for my great-grandma's 98th birthday. We went to Applebee's which was good since they have the WW menu. I really really wanted to splurge and get something greasy, but I was good and ate the grilled chicken sandwhich from the WW menu.

This morning we did Week 6 Day 1. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I was worried because there is an eight minute run segment in the middle and I didn't know if I was going to be able to do it, but I did it with no problems!

Oh, and I found a house yesterday! I'm putting in an offer today. I'm going to build it and it'll hopefully be done by October. I'm so excited. It's right by Shelby Farms in a new subdivision.

There and back again

Reading back over my blog on here made me realize how much back and forth I've done with my eating and workout plans over the past two years. But it's helped me see what works and what doesn't work for me. Being in Virginia was miserable for me and at one point I was back up to 162. I was working out a lot, but my eating habits were out of control since I am an emotional eater and I was so stressed out and lonely.

Now that I'm back in Memphis (and happy again) I'm rededicating myself to my fitness regimen. I noticed on my blog that I got down to my half-way point last summer while doing boot camp. I've rejoined it and I hope to have excellent results again. I don't have to travel with my new job so it should help me get on a consistent schedule. I've also rejoined WW, but this time I'm doing it online. I didn't like the meetings very much. My mom and I are doing Couch to 5k and are on Week 5, Day 3 tomorrow. Before I would do a more run/walk thing when I ran and with this I should be able to run a whole 5k when we are done after week nine.

Happy Friday!

Finally!

Yes! After all the working out and eating right this month, finally a drop in the scale! I'm down six pounds since I moved to Virginia. I'm very happy with that. Someone at work told me today that my face looked thinner and my skin was glowing. I have been making a concious effort to eat healthier as well, so knowing that it's showing a small bit is further encouragement.
