Has changed drastically over the last couple of days and I can't figure out why.... Geez, when did this happen? How did it get to the point where there just isn't enough time in the day to do everything that needs to be done? When did everything get so nutty? I mean, granted... I am moving. So things are a little crazy in that department. We are packing and taking stuff over to the new house every afternoon (just a little every day). But nothing major to the point of wearing me out. Actually, I think I might do two trips over to the new house today for good measure, just to get that ball rolling a little more quickly. I haven't quite decided yet. It's going to depend on what time I get off work. I have to stay late because I have errands to run at lunchtime today.
Yesterday, I got handed a new "project" at work. I think I mentioned it... FUN FUN! It has to be finished tomorrow, and this is on top of my end of month reports that I have to do and the things that I have to do every day in my office, PLUS the extra stuff that has to get done with inspections coming up next month. So, that is a little stressful.
I skipped my workouts last night, I was just too tired and sore. My abs are still sore today fromt he 92 minutes of yoga on Monday. So, I guess I will be adding yesterday's "supposed to run" miles and today's scheduled miles for a 5 mile run after work. I am also supposed to do a P90X kickboxing type workout, but I just don't know if I am gonna be able to do it. This week and next week may both be "slack" weeks in the workout department... considering the moving thing.
The Suns game was on TV last night since they were playing the Hawks. It was on the Atlanta sports station that airs all of the Hawks games. Wooo Hoo.... the Suns won! Why couldn't they have won against the Hawks in November when they played in Atlanta and I was AT the game??? I don't get to see many Suns games on TV, and I didn't watch all of the game last night, but what I saw (up until halftime) was great! Can't wait until the Spurs game tomorrow night!
Good morning to everyone in EP land and Happy Tuesday. I feel it in the air... today is going to be a good one. No big plans for today. I have some work that needs to get done in the office and I just got handed a new project that has to be completed by Thursday, possibly Friday... so I have to get busy on that in a few minutes. This afternoon, I have to pick my kids up from my dad's house, load a few boxes into the Jeep and take them over to the new house, then head home and work out. Today is leftovers again... so that means I don't have to cook! YAY!
Today's workout is a 4 mile treadmill run and P90X Core Synergistics.... which is supposed to be a pretty intense core strengthening workout. It'll be the first time I have done it. I am in week 4 now, which is basically a recovery week.... no strength training. There is a lot of Yoga, Core, and Stretching in this week's workout plan. Next week, I start back with strength work, but working them a little differently than in weeks 1 thru 3. Should be interesting. It's almost time to take 30 day progress pictures.
I'm looking forward to Thursday night. My beloved Phoenix Suns are playing the San Antonio Spurs and it's on TV, so I actually get to watch the game, even though it doesn't come on until 10:30. I'm usually asleep by then, but I must watch this game. After last year's playoff series between the Suns and Spurs when the Spurs knocked the Suns out of the running and a bid at the championship, this rivalry is pretty intense. Plus, my daughter's boyfriend is from San Antonio, so needless to say, he's a Spurs fan.
I have a 12K race coming up on Feb 16th and I am really excited about it. The longest distance I have done up until this point is a 10K, so this is a milestone race for me in preparation for my half marathon. I remember a few years ago, my best friend came over one morning in February for coffee and we saw a bunch of runners run right past my house. It was the race that I will be doing this year. Unfortunately, we don't live at the same place anymore, so the kids can't just sit out in the front yard and cheer me on. They actually have to leave the house and go to the race WITH me.
Well, I just got another call about my new project.. so I guess I had better get started on it. Have a wonderful day everyone.
I probably did, but I am telling everyone five thousand times, so I figured you should all have the same joy! I'm so excited to be moving in 5 days!! Friday is the big day! We actually get the key today, so we will be moving some in here and there between tonight and Friday. Friday we will rent the ol' U-Haul truck and move the remainder of the big stuff that we weren't able to get over there in our SUV's.
Today was my long run day, and MAN was it good. I ran 8 miles in 1.21:56 . That comes out to a 10:15/per mile pace. I don't think I have EVER done a long run at that pace. And I felt like I was going slow... especially at the end. I was feeling REALLY tired toward the end of the run, but tired in a good way... Plus a little sore, because I was already sore from my lower body workout on Friday....
. I think my speedwork and tempo runs, combined with the strength training of P90X are really making me somewhat faster.... I am pleased.
I printed out race registrations last night for upcoming local races. I have filled out registration forms for 5 local races in the next 3 months. I'm doing two 12K's, a 10K, and two 5K's. Then I have the mother of them all to end March... My Half-Marathon on March 30th!
Well, time to go get ready to go meet up with our future landlord and get our key. Have a great afternoon everyone
I don't know how many of you are familliar with the Christian Rock group "Superchick" but while I was runnnig yesterday, their song "Anthem" came on my mp3 player, and something inside of my really connected with it for some reason yesterday... I guess I was in a "GIRL POWER" mood or something. Here are some of the lyrics.
We are fire inside
We are lipstick and cleats
We are not going home and
We are playing for keeps
We are girls with skinned knees
We are concrete and grace
We are not what you think
Can't keep us in our place
Chorus:
Here's to the girls on their boards with bruises and scars
Here's to the girls whose fingers bleed from playing guitar
Here's to anyone who never quit when things got hard
You'll never let them say you'll never get that far
We are a fire inside
We are an army asleep
We are a people awaking to follow their dreams
We don't have time for your games
We have our own goals to score
There are trophies to win
Instead of being one of yours
Ok, so anyway... LOL
Yesterday's workout was a 5 mile tempo run and P90X Legs and Back. I am almost to week 4 of P90X, which is recovery week... no strength training all week.. just core and cardio. Looking forward to the little break.
I did get over the 'bump' in the road the other day and had a great clean eating day yesterday. Thanks to all of your for your encouragement. I will get around to checking on all of your blogs later today, The family is starting to stir, which means it's time to do some breakfast around here.
I had such a great food day and good workouts yesterday and felt sooo unbelievable this morning... You know those "skinny days" when you just feel lighter?? Well, all of the is shot right to H-E- double hockey sticks this afternoon. I have eaten anything and everything under the sun this afternoon. I did wonderful until after lunch, and then it was all shot down.,,,
But, I am getting up off my butt now, blogging about it, and moving on with the rest of my day. If I eat very light for the rest of the day, I can still come in under my calorie limit for the day. It's not a total loss. At least I had a nice healthy breakfast and lunch. And dinner will be the same. It's just those darn snacks in between.
And working later than usual doesn't help matters any. I had to change my schedule to help DH get the kids to school in the mornings. He was having a hard time getting them all to where they need to be and still get ready for work, since they are at 3 different schools now. So, NOW I am taking the older two, who can be at their schools by 7, and then heading in to work at 7:30 and getting off at 4pm, rather than my old schedule of 6 am to 2:30. I've noticed when I work later, I snack more. It's a mental thing I think. This building's regular schedule is 6 - 2:30, and there are not many here after that time, so when it slows down and the building is quiet, I get bored, I guess and want to eat. Still doesn't explain today though... considering it's only 1:30 now and I have already gone insane for the day.
Whew... what rambling! Must be the sugar rush from the OREO COOKIES! LOL.
So anyway, I should get back to work now. Have a great day. I plan to be back on track for the remainder of it and still come in under my calorie limit. I WILL do it.
My post yesterday actually did have more than a title, but for some reason it doesn't want to work right sometimes, and just won't enter anything. Just the title. Oh well....
I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to check in on everyone's blog lately. I'll make it a point to do that today sometime. It's going to be a super-busy day at work for me. I have to go to another building to help out a co-worker and do inspections, then I have to finish up my work in my own library.
For the most part, I had a good 'long weekend'. I battled that headache, a battle that I have still not completely won, but my Excedrin Migraine came in to work with me this morning, so I have my ammuntion ready to attempt to fight it off should it try to re-appear. I got in several good workouts, and my hubby said I was "fine"! I haven't heard that in quite a long time. Sure felt nice.
Today I am supposed to do Plyometrics and a 3 mile run. There will be a little more spring in my step when I work out now. Did I mention my hubby called me FINE??
I have had a killer headache all day today. It actually started yesterday. I did notice that when I worked out today, it got better for a little while. It's back now, though. And why is it that the kids aren't really loud and insane until you don't feel well. It didn't help matters much that it was pouring rain all day and freezing cold outside, so I couldn't send them out to play. UGH!!
I did manage to work out, as I said. The 4 mile run helped my headache a lot, and then I did my Kenpo X DVD (P90X). I felt better for a couple of hours. About dinner time this evening, the headache returned.
My eating has been pretty good today, but I feel utterly stuffed and miserable right now. I only had 1500 calories today. Why am I so stuffed and why do I feel so bloated? Oh well....I can say this though... If I still feel this bloated tomorrow, I will NOT be getting on the scale. No news is better than BAD news. And with my little candy fest the other day at work, I have a feeling it's gonna be a gain this week.
So far today i have steered clear of the candy! YAY ME! I did a serious "self-check" last night... sat myself down and gave myself a serious "talking-to", and decided that that candy bowl is off limits if I ever want the scale to move in a downward direction to reach my goal weight! Today, when I got hungry between breakfast and lunch, I had a 100 calorie Weight Watcher's yogurt with a scoop of protein powder stirred in. I forgot my lunch this morning... but found a pouch of tuna in my cabinet.... so I'll be having that. (I have also been trying to save money by not eating out)... It would be nice if I had some veggies or something to go with the tuna, but at least I have something here to eat. I'll take what I can get. LOL
Last night I did a 5 mile tempo run, which means that miles 1 and 5 were slower (warm-up and cool-down miles) and miles 2, 3, and 4 were sustained at the same tempo, faster then my usual easy run pace. I ended up doing my tempo miles at about 6 mph, which was really good for me. I usually go a lot slower than that. After the run, I popped in my P90X Shoulders and Arms DVD and did it... 59 minutes worth of shoulders, biceps and triceps. *ouchies*
I was sufficiently exhausted by bedtime last night after all that... plus the crash from all that #^$% chocolate yesterday.
Today's workout is a 3 mile easy run, followed by P90X Yoga... which is 90 minutes. I didn't make it all the way through it last time because of distractions, so I am hoping to have better luck with it tonight when I attempt it again.. I am sooo looking forward to moving into our new place on Feb 1st, and having more room for the kids to disperse and go anywhere other than where I am attempting to work out.
Happy Wednesday to all my EP friends. I am feeling pretty great today. I had a great workout and got plenty of sleep last night and am ready to take on the day. I think I might even be able to resist the candy bowl today! The stupid thing is already calling to me, but I have said NO NO NO! I was soooo bad yesterday. I ate so much candy it was ridiculous... but not today. Nope, not today!
I don't really have a lot to blog about today. Life has been pretty uneventful. We watched Crocodile Dundee last night on TV... OMG, I can't believe that movie came out in 1986! I feel so old. LOL I remember going to see that silly movie at the theater when I was my oldest daughter's age. Scary.
I did my P90X Plyometrics DVD last night, and I did better the second time around than I did the first. I think it was because noone was really paying any attention to me this time. I put more effort into my workouts when I can really focus on them.
Ok, time to get some work done. I'm already hungry and lunch is still a couple of hours away... so I have to find something to do to occupy my time and attention so I don't dip into the candy.
