Gonna Be A Bear

This is a little thing that got sent to me recently and I LOVE it... so I thought I would share..., even though I am not a believer in coming back here in a "next life"

Gonna Be A Bear!

In this life, I am a woman.  In my next life, I'd like to come back as a bear.  When you're a bear you get to hibernate.  You do nothing but sleep for 6 months.  I could deal with that.

Before you hibernate, you're supposed to eat yourself stupid.  I could deal with that too.

When you're a girl bear, you birth your children (who are the size of walnuts) while you are sleeping, and wake to cute, cuddly, partially grown cubs.  I could definitely deal with that!

If you're a mama bear, everyone knows you mean business.  You swat anyone who bothers your cubs.  If your cubs get out of line, you swat them too.  I could deal with that.

If you're a bear, your mate EXPECTS you to wake up growling.  He expects that you will have hairy legs and excess body fat.

YUP!  Gonna be a bear.

Confession Time

Ok, I have been in a funk.  I don't know when it started exactly, or even WHY..... but I have been down and haven't felt like doing much of anything.  And to top it all off, I have been too busy at work to check in or post and lightning struck our computer and fried the ethernet card so we can't get online at home right now.

I think it's a combination of work, financial problems, teenager with an attitude, hubby being distant... a whole lot of "stuff" all at once...... but I have been doing pretty much nothing all week.  I have not worked out once this week and my eating has been terrible. 

But I am posting now..... maybe so that I can confess and be accountable and get my rear end in gear and get back on track.  I plan on starting back into it easy today with a 30 minute cardio video after work... If it's not too hot tonight I may go run after the kids' karate class....

Ok, so off to work I go.  My confession has been made.  :o(  I hope everyone else is doing better than me right now,  I haven't even had a real chance to get online and check on everyone. 

Toxic Co-Workers

Well, twice in one week I have almost quit my job... twice the toxic co-worker from he!! has driven me to that point.... And I have a real problem with any work situation that causes me to take "stuff" home with me and makes it affect my relationship with my family.  I went home in such a bad mood yesterday.  I tried to leave it at work, but I just couldn't get past it, no matter how hard I tried.  My daughter (13 yr old) actually told me that she hates me working where I am because I am in such a bad mood when I come home lately.

This position I have now is a lateral move position that I took in March.  I LOVED where I was, but I was thinking of advancement when I agreed to the move.  I am 2nd in line for a management position where I am now (same pay as where I was, only there I was 6th in line).  So NOW, I am thinking that I was an IDIOT to take it. 

The boss knows the situation, and says that he has my back, but I don't know what is going to be done. 

Ok, anyway.... workouts have been suffering a little this week.  I haven't taken any unscheduled rest days, but I also haven't been doing full intensity.  Yesterday was Total Muscle Shaping with the lovely Stephanie Huckabee... and today will be.... something.  Not sure yet.  It's supposed to be FIRM Cardio, but I am NOT a big fan of that workout, so I usually substitute for it.  I may do it anyway... who knows.  I am also supposed to run tonight, but that may be put off until tomorrow since the kids are testing for their orange belts at karate tonight.

I should get back to work now. 

Monday again, and ready to go!

Good Morning!

I had a very nice weekend and an ready to go today, even if it is Monday.  Friday was my rest day, so I made a decision that I was going to steal the PS2 from the kids and play video games.  HAHA.  And I did!  I stuck in my favorite Final Fantasy game and played for hours.  It was great.

Saturday was supposed to be Body Sculpt (if you are a non-Firmie, that's a sculpting video, little aerobic movement, heavier weights).  BUT, apparently I started a trend, because my children were on the Playstation all day and were cooperating so well together (taking turns by the hour) that I decided to leave them alone and not take the TV away.  SO, I hit the hubby's weight bench for a 45 minute intense free-weight session.  I mainly worked upper body but did a few squats and lunges too.  I am STILL  feeling THAT workout. 

Yesterday was supposed to be Fat Blaster and my long run day.... It ended up being JUST my long run day.  My arms said "If you pick up a weight, you'll be sorryyyyyy....."  So I listened.    But I ran my personal best..... I did 4 miles.  I was happy all day after that.  OH, and I swam for a little while and I worked my thumbs by playing more Final Fantasy.  ;O)

Happy Friday

Hello all and HAPPY FRIDAY!

You have NO idea how glad I am that it's Friday.  For several reasons.  1) REST DAY!   2) CHEAT MEAL DAY and 3) NO WORK FOR 2 DAYS!

Co-worker issues at work almost made me walk out yesterday, but we are a paycheck to paycheck family and mine is the largest paycheck.  So, I have no choice but to stay.  Luckily my boss knows my work ethic and sees that  things that are going on are not my fault.  He even went as far as to say "I've got your back", so I guess I won't worry about it.  But who needs the extra stress in their life?  Certainly not me!

My workouts the last couple of days have been good but not GREAT.  I have been really tired all week.  I assume it's because I am getting up at 4:15 again every morning after a week of sleeping in.   It's been all I could do just to start a workout but I was usually ok after a few minutes and finished them without a problem.  I just haven't been working out at the intensity I would like to.

Well, I should start working now.  Have a great Friday!!! 

HUH?? That can't be right......

Ok, so I stepped on the scales this morning ( after the fiasco at my aunt's house, I now have some in my bathroom, thank you very much).... and it said 130.  That can't be right, can it? 

Yesterday was one of those "fat days".  Ever have those days when you feel huge?  Like you weigh at least 30 lbs more than you really do?   Well, I was afraid to step on the scales yesterday.  So I got brave this morning when I was getting ready for work, and the needle stopped at 130.... on the nose, right on the line. 

I'm not getting too excited, because tomorrow it will probably be back up a few pounds, since it fluctuates like that.  But my lowest weight in recent years has been 126, so I am liking the idea that I am that close again.  hehehe.  I'll enjoy it while I can.

I'm Back

Not that I have actually been anywhere.... Just haven't been online much and for very short periods of time when I have been.  Life got so hectic this week.  I'm playing "catch-up" at work with all the work that I didn't get done while I was out last week, and when I get home it's cooking and karate and kids and workout and then it's time for bed.  *whew*

I haven't even worked out today and it's already after 7 pm.  I am determined to get it done, even if I have to be up late.   I ended up having fried chicken nuggets for dinner tonight.  My first real cheat in a while.  I DID avoid the birthday cake at work today, though.  YAY ME!!

Tonight's workout will be Vol 6 and some kind of abs workout, not sure yet which one. 

I'll try to post more tomorrow.  I am finally getting caught up at work.  Ok, maybe not caught up... but definitely not a whole WEEK behind,  LOL

 

July 9, 2006... can't we rewind??

I would love to just rewind for 1 week, go back to LAST Sunday... when my vacation was beginning.  BUT, I can't and I really do have to go back to work tomorrow.  How depressing is THAT.

I was supposed to run this morning, but I turned off the ol' alarm and went back to sleep.  I have been rationalizing all morning, telling myself that I was "too sore anyway", but I know that isn't true.  So, I am determined to get to the track tonight when the sun starts to go down, and get my long run for the week in.  I think that's what did it for me this morning.  I knew that today was the day for the LONG run.  Shooting for 4 miles today.

I decided to start posting my food intake on here to keep me accountable.  So, here goes:

Breakfast ~ Coffee;  Kashi Go Lean Oatmeal w/ a dash of cinnamon and a Splenda packet.  1/2 cup fat free cottage cheese and 1 slice ww toast with Polaner All-Fruit Spread.

Snack ~ string cheese and a banana

Lunch ~ Peanut butter and jelly sandwich on whole grain bread.

no afternoon snack.  Got busy with housecleaning

Dinner ~ Spaghetti made with 96/4 ground beef, Barilla Plus Omega-3 Angel Hair pasta, and Ragu Pasta Sauce with 1/4 cup of shredded 2% cheese on top

Dessert - 1 cup (200 calories) Breyers Light Ice Cream, Vanilla Bean Flavor

Better Late then NEVER, I guess...

Ok, so I promised a "day in the life" and never delivered.  DH and I have been off work all week, and it has been terribly lazy around here.  I haven't been online much at all. 

So this is it:

Typically, during a regular week, I am up before the chickens, out of bed at 4:15 and at work by 5:30-5:45 am.  I usually have breakfast at around 7-ish at my desk. (Sample menu to follow), then a snack around 9:30 or so.  Lunch is at 11, usually at my desk.  I work on an Air Force Base in a secure building with a 30 minute lunch break, so by the time I leave the complex and get to my car lunch would be almost over.  So... it's leftovers for me every day. I guess that's a blessing in disguise, because it keeps me from hitting Burger King every day of the week.

I usually have another snack at about 1 or 1:30, then off work and heading home at 2:30.  Dinner is around 5 or 6, depending on hubby's schedule for the week... so my workout time is usually 3-4, between arriving home and starting dinner.  Then it's karate twice a week, church on Wednesdays, whatever has to be done in the evening and bed at about 8:30 or 9. 

And that's me!  Every day.  Week after week after week....

Sample Menu:

Breakfast - Kashi Go Lean Truly Vanilla Oatmeal with Cinnamon added and sometimes a Splenda packet.  Coffee..... of course.  Lots of coffee.  I get up EARLY. 

Snack - String Cheese and/or banana

Lunch - Salad prepared at home and brought to work with me or leftovers from the night before.  Salad usually has lettuce, snap peas, carrots, turkey breast, olives, part skim mozzarella cheese.

Snack - snap peas and or more string cheese, or turkey/cheese wraps

Dinner -  Just for example - Chicken breast with balsamic vinegar, stir fry veggies, sweet potato

Today's workout... well, part of it is still to come.... I ran 2 miles this morning but haven't done my FIRM workout yet.  I plan on doing Supercharged Sculpting before I hit the bed tonight and some kind of ab work. 

Lucy Tripnfall.....

That was the name of a character in one of my kids plays at church... Lucy Trip-and-fall... HAHA.  I think that should be MY name today. 

I went to the grocery store and on the way out, fell flat on my rear.  There was apparently an unmarked puddle beside the freezer for the ice.  Yes, now I have a big multi-colored goose-egg on my left knee.  How attractive!  I'm fine.  I think it hurt my pride as much as my knee.  :o(

On the happy side.... I was carrying three bags in one hand, which threw me a little off balance.  And one of the bags contained a gallon of milk.  So, at least my muscles were popping for all to see when I fell on my derriere.  <GRIN>

Today's workouts were Express Cardio and Fat Blasting Cardio... and then I remembered that I was supposed to do ABS too for that abs challenge on the FIRM website this month... so I did Ab Sculpt too!  I was pooped. 

Tomorrow I am going to try to post a "day in the life" kinda thing... sample menu and workout schedule so you all know what I usually do
