Half marathon training

Well, as anyone who reads my blog can tell (which is apparently noone lately.. lol) I have been slack about posting my workout and half marathon training schedule.  I thought I would go ahead and put the next few days of workouts down and update for July soon....

Today - 4 mile easy run

Saturday - June 30 - Rest day, but will probably do a 2.5 mile run, since I didn't finish my run last night.

Sunday - July 1 - 9 mile long run

Monday - July 2 - Gym workout, including 30 min elliptical, and whatever else strikes my fancy at the time

I want to be like my husband.... I am so jealous of his metabolism.  I fight and fight to lose a pound, have to really work my fanny off....  He ran 3.5 miles on the treadmill last night and this morning, he was 3 lbs lighter.

Not that he wants to be... for him it's not such a great thing.  He is actually trying to GAIN weight.  He wants to run for the cardiovascular benefits, but he is having trouble with the whole 'weight loss' issue.  OH, to have THAT as a problem....

I'm finding that in the training that I am doing for this half marathon, I am despising speedwork the most.  I did speedwork last night and I thought I was dying for a little while there.  I couldn't even finish it.  Next time, though, it will be a different story.  I WILL finish it.  I just keep thinking about the benefits that I will reap from it in my 5K races.  One day I plan to break 25 minutes.

Well, back to work now.  Have a fantabulous day !!

Holey moley

.... I can see that it IS addicting for you, this running!  LOL!!  Keep up the great work, glad you got dh running with you!!

Howdy there

Sounds like your training is going well. I'm actually training for a half marathon myself on 10/13.

I'm getting up there in my miles...this Sunday will be my longest run yet of 7 miles. I finally got a garmin forerunner so I'm going to try and program it according to my training.  So maybe I can do my tempo and speed runs outside instead on the TM.

You are doing great and are very fast.  I did my second 5K last month and the "official" time was 34:43 but no one really knows but it wasn't a chip race.  It was faster than my first so I'm happy. I have another 5K on 9/8, I know it'll be better because the speed training is helping.

I got my training program from the smart coach on RW.com. According to my last race it gave me a pace of 13 mm on my long runs.  Last Sunday, I ran at a 12 mm pace and I felt really good. I guess it's about what's playing on your IPOD.
