Week One
Sunday, July 30th Today I began my Medifast journey. I weighed-in at 176.5 this morning. Here we go.... my goal is to lose about 42 pounds. (I'd be happy with 35 though!)
- MF Meal #1, 9:00am -Strawberry Cream shake - UGH...no thanks! I couldn't drink it all, only 1/2 of it. How am I going to do this??
- MF Meal #2, 1:30pm -Oatmeal Raisin bar - that was good! Things are looking up. : )
- MF Meal #3, 3:45pm -French Vanilla Berry Oatmeal, pretty good, I think I can handle this one...I keep tasting the same after taste in all the meals, maybe the soy protein? I'm trying to get used to it - it's not horrible, but not sitting well with the tastebuds either.
- My L&G Meal: 6pm -5 oz. lean ham, salad greens, cucumber & tomato with 2 TBS light dressing.
- MF Meal #4, 8pm -Chicken Noodle Soup, pretty good! A little chewy; maybe next time I'll blend it up to make it creamier and less chunky.
- MF Meal #5, 10pm -Banana Pudding- ok. The flavor was pretty good, it was the after-taste that got me. :(
All-in-all, not a bad 1st day. The food was rather good, with the exception of that HORRID Strawberry shake!! We'll see what the mystery bag has is store for me on day 2! (I pre-packaged a week's worth of meals into zipper baggies, so in the AM I'll just grab a bag and go.)
Monday, July 31st Ok - so I cheated!! I said I wouldn't weigh until Sunday and I snuck a quick peek at the scale - I just couldn't resist. It said 174.(something - for the record, so about 1.5-2 lbs in the first day. :) Now, no more weighing until the 6th.
- MF Meal #1, 7:30am -Maple & Brown Sugar oatmeal, pretty good - not liking the smell though.
- MF Meal #2, 10:30am- Banana Creme Shake, ok- better than the strawberry; still got that after taste though.
- MF Meal #3, 1:30pm- Peanut Butter bar, YUMM!
- MF Meal #4, 4:00pm- Cream of Chicken Soup, pretty tasty, no soy protein smell/taste - pickle spear for snack
- L&G, 7:30pm - 5 oz. lean ham over salad with 2TBS light balsamic vinegrette.
- MF Meal #5, 10:00pm- Chocolate Pudding - YUMM!
2 months until my birthday...I wonder if I can lose 30 pounds by then!?! That'd be one awesome birthday gift!!
Tuesday, August 1st Today begins Day #3 - I'm doing suprisingly well. A few headaches as my body adjusts, but nothing too terrible. My main obstacle has been cutting out my study-time snacks; it's my way of staying awake to study...now I drink water! : )
I can't trust myself, so I asked hubby to hide the scale until Sunday! LOL He laughed at first, but of course he said he would. He's so good to me! (Love you baby!!)
- MF Meal #1, 8:30am - Maple & Brown Sugar Oatmeal
- MF Meal #2, 11:00am- Dutch Chocolate Shake (YUM)
- MF Meal #3, 1:30pm - Chili; tweaked it with a TBS of salsa (5 cals) and some taco seasoning; it was ok...not as good as I hoped, but it got better with each bite!
- SNACK - Ranch Soy Crisps!! all I can say is WOW!
- MF Meal #4, 4:00pm -Chocolate Pudding
- L&G Meal, 8:00pm Denny's Grilled Chicken Salad, minus cheese; with FF Italian
- MF Meal #5, 10:30pm -Chocolate Mint bar - yummm, think "thin mints"
We were out shopping and got stuck out too late; so we dropped in Denny's but I think I fared rather nicely with the grilled chicken salad and an unsweet tea. The kids' fries sure looked good - but not even one touched my lips! : ) We were out shopping for a Magic Bullet & I got one! I hear they are awesome for mixing up MF shakes and puddings. I think it'll make a difference in the cream of chicken soup too.
Wednesday, August 2nd Day four - The MF meals are getting easier and easier to eat. : ) The Magic Bullet, is working like magic! The shake & pudding were simple to mix & eat/drink today. Better yet - less dishes to wash! ~ We ended up at CEC's today with the kids so I decided I'd eat my L&G there; they have a salad bar with boiled eggs & surely they have a light dressing. Well, guess what...NO light dressing! I ended up eating my very first dry salad, but it really wasn't all that bad. : ) Better, yet...I stuck with the plan and didn't cheat or give in.
- MF Meal #1- 7:30am- Vanilla Creme Shake, o-k - but not loving it. Better get some DaVinci SF syrups!
- MF Meal #2 - 10:30am- Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
- L&G meal - 3:00pm- Salad w/2 boiled eggs, one pickle spear, no dressing
- MF Meal #3 - 6:00pm- Banana Pudding
- MF Meal #4 - 9:00pm - Chicken & Rice Soup with pkt of MF crackers - they tasted stale, not sure they are supposed to. The soup was wonderful though!
- MF Meal #5 - 11:00pm - Lemon Fantasy Bar, first few bites were iffy, but by the end I loved it. Tastes like a lemon bar.
Thursday, August 3rd Day 5 is here! My new friends at Makemethinner.com were RIGHT! It does get easier and easier to follow and my tastes are truly changing, the foods were not that bad to begin with (except the horrid strawberry shake, that still haunts me - LOL) but the meals are getting better and better with each one. In the beginning I couldn't stand the smell of the soy protein - it made me gag. (I apparently have a very good sense of smell - too good, my DH says!) Today I realized I hadn't noticed the smell in 2 days, so apparently my sense of smell has adjusted as well. : )
- MF Meal #1, 8:00am - Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
- MF Meal #2, 11:30am - Swiss Mocha Shake - Yumm!
- MF Meal #3, 2:30pm - Homestyle Chili, with ranch soy crisps for a snack
- MF Meal #4, 3:00pm - Chocolate Divine Bar, pretty good
- L&G, 7:30pm - 7 oz. baked tilapia with a salad of lattuce, mushrooms and a pickle spear diced up, topped with 2T light dressing. The tilapia was amazing - I've never had it before. Ironically, it tasted like chicken!
- MF Meal #5 - Missed it, I fell asleep.
Friday, August 4th Day 6 - Today my best friend and the love of my life leaves for a year in Iraq. We'll make it through, like we always do, but it hurts so much to have our family split like this. I have a lot to focus on here right now to keep me busy & my mind occupied. I'm glad he was here with me as I started my MF journey - he helped get me on my way. If I had waited until next week - I'm not sure I could've made it the first few days; but now I feel totally committed!! My hope is that he returns home to a slimmer, healthier & HAPPIER wife next year. I couldn't take it any longer - I had to weigh! After I said good-bye to DH, I need a pick-me-up so I decided to weigh myself and check my progress - I'm down 6.4!! : )
- MF Meal #1 - 9am, Banana Creme Shake
- MF Meal #2 - 12pm, Peanut Butter Bar
- MF Meal #3 - 3pm, Apple-Cinnamon Oatmeal
- Snack - Apple Cinnamon Soy Crisps
- L&G - 8pm, 7oz. Tilapia and salad with light dressing
Saturday, August 5th Woo-Hoo!! Day #7!! I got a litte off track and haven't been eating all my meals these past two days - but I'll get back on track!
- MF Meal#1 - 9am, Orange Creme Shake - pretty good, better than I thought. I'm not totally crazy about it, but the wee man kept trying to steal it from me!
- MF Meal#2 - 12pm, Smores Bar
- MF Meal#3 - 3pm, Minestrone Soup - Yumm...
- Snack, 5pm - MF Apple-Cinnamon soy crisps
- L&G - 6pm, Salad with chicken, cucumbers, tomatoes, and mushrooms.
- MF Meal#4 - 8pm, Chocolate Pudding
Week ONE is done!! : ) What a week it was - I'm eager to check my weight tomorrow & see how successful week one was for me. Medifast is truly easy and I'm loving it! ~ Thank you Hudson for luring me in with your wonderful success I kept hearing about on the radio. You look AWESOME & I hope that one day soon, I will too!
