Temptations
This time of the year is so difficult... Surrounded by cakes, pies and all sorts of delicious sweets. Friday night we had a fish fry at our church, fried fish, french fries, potato salad, coleslaw. Nothing that I could eat. I took my NS beef stew and ate it in the kitchen before the fish fry and tried to stay busy while every one else was eating. I did have a couple of pieces of fish (small) and 2 hushpuppies. I stayed away from all the mayonaise laden potato salads and the desserts (except for one small butter cookie!). Then Saturday, we had a friend in from California so my mom goes all out with chicken fried venison steaks, mashed potatoes, coconut cream pie, brownies, pumpkin pie. Ugghh. I manged to do OK there. Took my NS meal, added her green beans and just had a couple of small pieces of meat. No pie.... Sunday... we take my 5 year old daughter to a Christmas tea where we are surrounded by cupcakes, little pumpkin things, cookies, brownies. I just couldn't resist. had 3 little pumpkin mini somethings and 2 brownie bites. I resisted the frosting on the gingerbread cookies (frosting is a serious weakness of mine) but I still felt guilty. On top of that, we get home and they all want to go out to dinner for Mexican food. I did OK, had the baked fish and scraped all the cheesy sauce off of it. I didn't gain anything so I guess I shouldn't complain, but man, was it a tough weekend. Too many temptations!!!!
