PROMOTED

I got a Promotion today.  I am pretty excited about it but also very scared/nervous/anxious.  Why?  I should embrace this with open arms and I have.  But just like the weight loss process, I always seem to second guess myself.  I will now be the Administrative Services Manager, in charge of Purchasing, Space Planning, and Graphics.  All areas I like - so why am I unsure?  Stay tuned for my trials and tribulations LOL.

Oh the weight front - had a good food day today.   Stayed within my calories so I'm happy about that.  I'm really tired tonight so I'm going to try to get some decent sleep.

FIT BY FIFTY

Hi Friends!  Yes, I am back.  And I don't know what to write about. 

Let's see, I'm watching Access Hollywood right now and they are talking about  "Star Makeovers".  Must be nice to have the bucks to get veneers (teeth) and lifted, tucked, and sucked (as in lipo). 

So, since I don't have the star salary to be able to do the quick fixes, I guess I'm in for the old fashioned stuff like treadmill-tredging, weight-lifting, clean-eating (got a LOT of work to do here but I'm making strides).  I even had OATMEAL today.  I really don't like cooked oatmeal (love it in cookies) and I had to choke it down LOL.  Tried to jazz it up with honey and blueberries, I'm gonna have to find something to take the "bland" taste out of it, but not butter or crap like that.  I did the Steel Cut version and liked the consistency - this will be a new Sunday morning experiment.  Anyone have any suggestions on healthy add ins?

I just thought of something else.  Back in February the doc put me on Zocor because my cholesterol was @ 287.  I'm happy to report that I retested a couple of weeks back and my cholesterol is now (drum roll please) ............. 189.  That makes me smile

I atttibute the drop (in addition to the meds) to a great exercise program I have been doing with my online trainer (real person) who has motivated me to get moving and is also counseling in the nutrition dept.  I have lost a whole 2.5# (insert a tone of sarcasim here) since the beginning of April but in one month I lost 5.5 inches.   Losing the inches is much more valuable in my opinion and my new mantra is "FIT BY FIFTY".

And my crappy knee is getting better and better each week.  I haven't had to take an anti-inflammatory for a couple of weeks.  Squats and (stationary) lunges are my friends.

When people look at me next year, June 2, 2008, I want to hear "WOW .... Fifty is REALLY the new Forty".

And it will happen.  I guarantee it.

WHEW .......

I haven't been around for a week or so - YIKES -

It really helps me when I blog here.  I won't be such a stranger.  I was so on a "HIGH" last week after a great week of food and exercise.  This week(end) - not so good.  I didn't even do my workout today (or yesterday).

I start out so great and then stumble.  But at least it's a stumble, not a complete fall.  I won't let myself fall.

Went to the market and got good food for the week.  I bought and will start reading a book called "The Eat Clean Diet" by Tosca Reno.  I love good, healthy food.  I just don't always like the hassle of preparing it.  I just made a nice big pot of beef barley soup loaded with veggies and have readjusted my attitude.  I will have a great week, I know it.

Gulp - I just remembered I have BUNCO on Wed. - always a challenge with the crunchy, sweet, and salty snacks.  Need to start formulating my thinking about how I'm gonna deal with that.

What a Great Week

I'm so happy right now.  My weight loss is only .5 from last week but I worked out 5 -FIVE - days this week.  My knee is OK, and I feel "in the zone"...........

I had myself talked out of my exercise this morning and as I was getting the shower I thought that I should just go for it ....

AND I DID ....

I'm on a ROLL (the non-edible type)

I have had a stellar week this week.  Great food choices, 3 days of exercise under my belt.  Tonight I did the most AWESOME Treadmill routine prescribed by new trainer.  Yes, you read it right - MY NEW TRAINER.

Now, I must tell you that this person is an online trainer, how I wish I could afford one in person.  But, I'm loving my workouts!!  The weight routines are designed for me and take into account my funky knee.  The cardio is awesome.  I also did a cardio/weight circuit this week too.  The best thing - I'm eating right and exercising - FINALLY - and I have no plans to stop anytime soon.

Tomorrow will be a DOR and then upper body weights & cardio on Saturday.  Of course, I'll go for a treadmill ride on Easter as I am having dinner at my brother's house.

So that's the latest and the greatest in LaLa Land!!

JUST CHECKING IN WITH Y'ALL

Had my Bi-Weekly dinner with Brat and KBB tonight.  Did great with my shrimp salad.  Bought a new pair of cute Ann Taylor capris that I paid TOO much for (I've NEVER paid $58 for a pair of pants) but like KBB's dress, these will hang in my spare room, reminding me of the 10# I will lose and how HOT I will look wearing these in Maui in October!

I found a new salad today that I LOVE.  LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

The restaurant - Spagetinni's in Seal Beach.  Not usually points friendly.  And my salad probably wasn't.  But I had half for lunch, half for dinner.  And I know I can modify this delicious combo into a WW "friendlier" meal.

How?  Well, here is the original version (since I can't find it on the web menu).  It's field greens, tossed with tomato vinagrette (very light dressing at my request, with chunks of halved cherry tomato), grilled red peppers & portabello mushrooms, bleu cheese and grilled steak.  It is topped with onion straws.  OMG it was the most delicous thing I've tasted as of late.

I think I'll lighten it  with "light" blue cheese if I can find it at Trader Joe's, a smaller portion of steak, sliced thinner, and baked onion straws.

Now if I could just find the recipe for that vinagrette!  Maybe just a little olive oil (healthy fat) with the halved cherry tomatoes ......

ALOHA!!

We did it!  We booked our trip to Hawaii this weekend.  29 weeks from tomorrow we will be departing for Maui.  I want to get to goal more than ever now!! 

So today I came home and did my 3 mile WATP Fat Burning workout. 

You know, I only have to lose 1/2 pound a week to drop 14# by October 9th?  That is so doable, only need to create a calorie deficit of 1,750 per week.   

I can, and WILL do this.

Vacation's Over :-(

A week of fun, sun, food and drink behind me.  I weighed in yesterday morning @ 154.5, a 2.3# gain since my last two Saturdays @ 152.2.

I'm not sad, actually elated that I was able to keep it to 2.3!  Back on track starting tomorrow.

I need to open my eyes and feel the success around me.   I have such inspirational friends (most I have met online) that are focused on their journies.  I want to feel those successes again.

Yes, I have succeeded in keeping almost 30# off and that is a great accomplishment, I just want that  "warm fuzzy" feeling that comes with a pound or two loss at the scale weekly.  Let's see how I can do this week with social commitments on Tues, Wed, and Friday!  I see lots of salads (I do like them BTW) in my future.

Still shooting for 149.9999 by my birthday June 2.

I JUST REALIZED

That I haven't been here posting for over a week!  Yikes!!

Anyway, things are going good - we are on vacation and headed to Palm Springs (second home to my buddy Desertbrat) and I will "take the plunge' and probably don a swimsuit to hang out by the pool.  Luckily it's a one-piece LOL.

I will be back later in the week and post more interesting weight related discussion.  Hope you are all doing great!!!
