So on the second day of my new plan I was encouraged by t he fact that I was down on the scale having dropped some water weight--a rare occasion on a Monday. However, deciding I was going to cut out the carby snacks did not necessarily make it an easy thing to do.
When my morning snack break rolled around, I headed to the break room and got our a yogurt. I was famished and decided to forego the strawberries I was going to eat for something more substantial. I was still hungry afterward. At lunch, I ate my half sandwich and my strawberries. Then I ate half tomorrow's half sandwich. At the end of the day, we were treated to a mini-spa treatment for teacher appreciation week. The spa lady had finger sandwiches and chex mix for us. I was really still hungry, so I had some.
Now . . . what was I saying yesterday about not eating so many carbs?! Damnit. At least according to my tracker, I shouldn't be over 1500 calories for the day if I stick to my dinner plan. (That's a big "if" the way my day is going!) I know I probably wasn't really "hungry" all day; my body is just conditioned to having certain foods at certain times of the day. It's going to take some adjusting to get back to a lower-calorie mode, I guess.
I should go walk now . ..

Adjustment
I'm sure it's just an adjustment thing. Did you eat less than you did yesterday? If so, that is progress and you should be proud. If you REALLY were hungry, then by all means eat! I have a hard time telling the difference between stomach hunger and brain hunger, you know?
I think that overall, you have done very well today. I think you shouldn't beat yourself up too badly. You're aware and you're getting back on track! Good for you!
Thanks for reminding me about teacher appreciation week!! We will be gone Thursday and Friday on a class field trip; isn't that dumb that we go during teacher appreciation? All 4 of the 4th grade teachers are going to miss the luncheon on Friday. Not fair!
So, you take Naproxin for your arthritis? I was surprised my doctor didn't give me any, so I've been taking ibuprofin. I fnd that yoga is pretty hard on my knees, but I'm going to try some water sports this week. I still haven't heard from my doctor, so I don't know whats wrong. I'm just enjoying the break from it all. Doctors orders! :) And my knees feel much better, too!
Have a good week! I appreciate ALL teachers ALL the time! Shelley
you will just have to give your body the time it needs. Great about the mini-spas you were treated to - we never get that here!!!! Have a nice mostly carb-free week.
getting back on track. I completely understand your hunger pains. You'll get though it's all about readjusting. I found that cottage cheese keeps me full longer than yogurt. Maybe you could give that a try?
Glad to hear you can walk now...hows the back pain?
I just read your last few blog entries. About the hubster, do what I do and tell him to take the cookies to work, if he has to eat them, eat them at work, and remind him that if he likes that fine new tooshy of yours it's a small price to pay to keep it that way!
do it...it will take some adjusting, but your body will get use to it. And it makes sense that you lower your calories since you can't workout as much. I wonder if I should do that too. And yor right about the friends list at this point it's not worth pondering over. I know my cores.
I was just posting about my new infatuation with bread and butter. Shelley was saying it's like when you try to avoid something you want it more. It's absolutely horrible!
Good luck with the adjustment - like another poster said - you probably still ate way less than you would've normally!
Carbs good and bad are my downfall. I've been eating alot of them lately and it's really hard to stop. I so feel your pain. It takes me a good 3 days of lowered carbs for my body to get used to it. It sucks.
I hope that your re-evaluation of things gives you great results.
i just wanted to give you some advice i was given about carbs...if you don't eat a minimum of 90-100 grams a day of carbs-- you WILL binge on them eventually. carbs are what your brains uses as fuel-- so i wouldnt dip below that mark . and 100 grams can add up pretty fast --so it really isnt that much! hang in there- you are doing great- and your photos are jaw dropping-- you've come such a long way!
