Before After

TBTB

That stands for "Too Busy to Blog." That's been me, lately. It was midterms at school and I've been dealing with trying to get my car fixed. I just haven't spent much time on the computer at all.

I even was too busy to cook after Tuesday. I fell back on a lot of organic frozen meals from Wild Oats to get me through the week. I just didn't have the right combination of groceries at home, nor the inclination to shop or cook. At least I didn't resort to the drive-thru!

Nothing much of significance has changed for me, other than I've decided I don't need to go to the chropractor as much. The pain from the adjustments is almost as bad as the original injury. My body needs more time to "adjust" from the adjustments. I think once a week is probably enough.

After spring break, there was a fair amount of improvement to my injury, which was halted as soon as I went back to work. Clearly, what my body wants is rest. Over spring break I was sleeping 9-10 hours a night and sometimes napping as well. My back thanked me. Now it's back to tingling and shooting pain. Yesterday I tried to do some light planting in the yard, and my neck was most unhappy. I know I'm not going to be back lifting weights anytime soon if I can't even dig a few holes in the ground with a hand trowel.

Well, I gotta run because I've got lots of cooking to do for the week. I don't want to have another week like the last. My DH drove over to his hunting camp in Arkansas yesterday and brought back some delectable fresh crawfish tails from a local farm. I'm going to whip up some brown rice jambalaya! Yum!

Type to y'all later . . .

Teaching

is very hard on the back and extremely stressful so you will not get any rest there. However, try to be kind to your body.

feel better soon

I have weak nerves and a bad back. Anything too strenuous, I'll be paying for it almost that very same night. Muscle twitches.Muscle aches. I've tried every muscle cream out there from those yucky blue emu oils to japanese bandages.

I still don't know what's the 'cure' for aches but continue listening to your body. Especially knowing your limits. It's hard especially everyonelse seems to be stronger than me and  while I'm bigger they think I can lift a closet and a half....but hey it's our body. It's us experiencing the unpleasantness.

I know right now you're wishing to be active but if your back gets aggravated more, it'll take a longer time to heal. So try to relax as much as humanly possible and soon you'll be back into action mode.

Besides a chiropractor is there anyonelse you can see? A chiropractor sounds too painful to me.

Hang in there! You'll soon feel better.

Sorry

I'm sorry that you are hurting.  It sucks when the treatment is as bad as the injury.  I feel for ya!

I was just telling my friend that I want to go to Wild Oats.  I've never been there.  It's right down the street from my job.  I've been thinking that I might want to start doing some meals on my own instead of JC.  Question on price.....Because JC is expensive......will I save any money going there?  Didn't you do JC at one point?  Just curious.  Money is about to become a real issue.  Or, rather. lack of money.  LOL!  Not really laughing.

Obey the Boss

...and right now, it's your body in the driver's seat.  I know planting is a seemingly light activity, but the movement and positions needed to do the planting is torturous on an already painful back.  Rest up as best you can and take full advantage of some conveniences you have at your disposal (like the frozen organics) and save yourself some precious time that there never seems to be enough of, and effort, and energy.  You may find that modifying some of your activities will help you to heal as well (sitting to chop vegetables etc.).  I know it can be easier said than done in this crazy hectic life.  Do your best, as I know you already are, just don't push things.  As for not hitting the drive thru, I'd be more surprised if you did.  But celebrate the NSV all the same.

Take it easy!

Back Pains

Im really sorry to hear about all your back pains. Trust me, I would rather deal with anything than back pains. Ever since I got poked in my back, it hasn't been the same ever since. It hurts no matter what I do, the bad part is going to the chiropracter and physical therapy helped and then the pain came shooting back really quickly. I hope you can find a way to lessen the pain. Im praying that it gets better.

Good job on not going to the drive-thru!  Have a healthy and stress free week!

Lots of that going around!

I've been so busy and unable to find the time to blog too. Ugh! I hate when there isn't enough hours in the day! I hope you were able to do all of the cooking that you planned on doing. I need to cook more food, as I am seriously lacking variety in what I eat!! At least it's not Taco Bell!! Have a great week!

cook and rest!

I hope you got some cooking done and have your food set up for the week.  Good job avoiding the drive-thrus.  Like PV PRincess said, I would be surprised if you went, but that's because you've been so good for so long, not because they stop being tempting.

RE: questions about prediabetes

Yes, I'd love any advice you can give me and BTW, thank you for all that you've already given. I really appreciate it. So, you mean you don't have it anymore? Do tell me how you did that!! If I thought I would be able to prevent it rather than delay it, I would be so relieved!

Hope you enjoyed that crawfish! Sounds wonderful!

ALSO . . .

Will you send me some brown rice jamabalaya?  Sounds delish!

Thanks again

I have UltraMetabolism and get the video pods from Dr. Hyman every week. I have already been eating mostly a whole foods diet, but need to work on it more. I don't do anything white, or at least very rarely. I'm starting to feel better about the whole thing because I've changed my eating habits so much anyway. I'm taking a lot of the supplements the book suggests, too. My biggest problem is the fish. I like ocean fish and he recommends river fish.  I've also read that as long as I keep my carbs less than 10% of my calories, which I don't even get that, than I will be fine.

It sure is a learning experience!! I'm just glad I was able to get my cholesterol much lower and that at least I lowered my glucose by 7 points. If I can do that, I can probably lower it even more if I keep doing what I'm doing! And you are proof, right?? That is really encouraging. Because I DO NOT want full blown diabetes!!

BTW, love the pic of you and Dextar!!! I love all animals! Cute kitties and doggies, too! And while I'm at it, I like the pic of DH, too! Beautiful scenery.
