I went for my second chiropractic adjustment yesterday and I am amazed how sore they make me. He told me I really shouldn't be exercising for a few weeks until he's had time to make some progress. Gah! The scale has already been creeping back up above 154 this week. I'm so sick of being here!
I did see something rather enlightening, however. He put my MRI films up on a light screen and told me any doctor who told me nothing was wrong with me was blind. He asked me to look at my own spine and tell him what I saw. Well . . . there it was plain as day. I pointed right at two of the vertebrae that didn't look like the others--they were all smashed together and tilted toward each other. The three above those two were also kind of cock-angled. It looked kind of like the aerial view of a traffic accident and subsequent pile-up. It looked . . . painful.
Since I had to pick up these films at the diagnostic center, it occurred to me that my original doctor has probably never seen them. He's only read the report from the doctor at the center, which says I have no obvious herniation, etc. THAT's why he doesn't know what's wrong. He's never actually SEEN the damn things! Anyone with eyes can see my spine is jacked up.
Now that I've seen it with my own eyes, I believe the doctor when he says I shouldn't exercise. I'm going to stretch, but that's it. I don't need to be putting any kind of weight or pressure on those poor stressed bones. Sucks, though. I just can't get this weight off. I guess I'm going to have to cut back the calories. Grrr.

It sure does explain alot doesn't it? Your back muscles have been trying to overcompensate for you spine and now it's a mess. Healing vibes to you.

Wow
I wonder if it would be worth taking the images to the idiot doctor and showing him. But then, you've have to pay him and put up with listening to his excuses, then his dire warnings against quack chiropractors, so never mind.
Good news. Weighed in at 135.2 this morning. I don't know what that two-day spike into 137 was about, but now maybe I'm on my way back to 133, magic number.
Like your new colors here. Don't you HATE the ads? I don't know how I'm going to cope with them after my 6-month gold grace period is up. They're ads for stuff I would NEVER advocate people using--I don't want them on my blog!
I can't believe that doctor never looked at your x-rays himself. That is so annoying!
At least you seem to have finally found something that might help and I hope it works out.
SInce the car accident everytime I stretch my back just pops and my neck is worse...I know I am going to have to get to the chiropractor but you know I hate looking for a good one!
I would have copies made and mail them to the other doctor and ask "WTF?" That's just awful. And strange. My ortho had my films and looked at them with me. So negligent not to look at them himself and just go off of a report. Not good.
Glad you have some answers. Maybe now you can start a path to some relief! :)
This past week, also because of pain (but in my back) I made a conscious choice to gently stretch and take a few epsom salt baths. It is hard isn't it? I know! But, it has been nice. The extra time I spend going to workout/getting ready to workout/driving to workout has been spent just hanging out. Turns out my body needed that more.
You talked me out of the Kenmore Elite! Thanks! We are interested in the LG one you have, but it would be nice if they both worked great! I am one of those people that just has to have them matching! The research continues...
I can't believe your doctor never even looked at your film. What an idiot. Well, at least this new guy is working out and I'm glad you got to see the film for yourself. I hope your back feels better soon.
on your road to success. Ashley, you look fabulous. All of your hard work and effort is paying off. I'm hopeful that this is just a temporary setback. Keep doing what you're doing... it's working : )
