Before After

AWOL

Been off of the computer for a few weeks, mainly because I switched to night shift and have had a TON of extra duties to complete during the day (like the M16 range). I am still on my diet and still losing weight. I had been sick for the last few weeks--- me and the kiddo both had a stomach bug it was yucky! Other than that things are going well. Had a mild reaction to my b12 injection (weird right?) last week, but nothing serious. I think it might have been a reaction to something else, just not sure what.

I am almost done with the 6 week program at Dr. Careons (on week 5 now). Then I will transition for a month (shakes and real food). Then I am going to either do weight watchers or the biggest loser online meal planner. I haven't decided which though.

My hubby is doing the "Abs Diet" and really likes it, but it involves lots of protein shakes (with flax seed YUCK!) so I doubt I will go that route. He has lost almost 10 lbs so far. I think it works for him b/c he has so much muscle already, just wants to lose some belly. (He has awesome arms/legs/and butt from mountain biking).

Anyways, I hope everyone is doing well. I will try and see if I can't get on here from work so I can blog more. TTFN.

Week 3

Heading to my Dr.s appt yesterday I was feeling discouraged, but the results are good!

10 lbs lost, 6 pounds of that fat.

my body fat percentage is down 1 point.

I lost 3 lbs of muscle the first week, but gained back 1 lb last week.

I am retaining over 1.5 lbs of water, but that is d/t the lovely monthly visitor that we are all so blessed with.

My BMI is also down 1.5 points.

Overall, not so bad for just starting.

I am doing the Slim-in-6 workouts almost everyday. I just switched to night shift so I missed Monday and spent most of Tuesday sleeping. Last week we did a lot of raking leaves and hiking outside, but I still managed to workout 5 of those days. I notice that the "start it up" is getting MUCH easier to where I only too one "pause" break for about a minute to get some H2O. I feel thirsty ALL the time. I know its d/t the phentermine (SE dry mouth), but it drives me nuts! After this mornings workout I did the "slim and limber" portion also. They have a lot of good stretches. I think I will keep doing that. I am going to finish this week doing the start it up and then move on to the ramp it up and see how I fare.

I am going to "tape" myself tonight at work (since I don't have a tape measure here) and put my measurements in. I know I have lost AT LEAST an inch or most off my waist and hips, and my tummy "pouch" is getting flatter.

If we have enough staff tonight (Monday I was the only RN working) I might go to the cardiac rehab gym and do some eliptical/stepper. They have a GREAT machine that is like a combination of both and 30 minutes feels like 3 hours on a regular eliptical.

Overall I am feeling better about my diet. I have increased my cal just a bit from 800 and I think the b-12 and lipozene injections are finally kicking in.

Well, I am off to sleep a bit before the kiddo gets home from school. Another crappy SE of the phentermine is insomnia. Hopefully I can get a few hours today.

TTFN

I PUT THE DIE IN DIETING

So, I started a diet just before Christmas. I am working with the Center for Medical Weight loss. Let me tell you, it works, but it SUCKS big time! 800 calories a day, mostly liquid. You get the occasional cardboard tasting protein bar thrown in there. I have lost 14 pounds, but seem to be stuck for the last few days. I hate that in the Army you have to be in "perfect" shape, body fat, etc to promote. It doesn't matter if you know your job, or even if you are GOOD at what you do, if you don't pass ht/wt, you lose.

I was talking to my commander a few weeks ago about it. I made an example of a friend of mine who barely passes her PT test, and it TINY, I mean, borderline underweight. I asked him, put us out in the desert for two weeks, no food, water, nothing. Who do you think will survive? Her with her 0% body fat and minimal strength, or me? He laughed and said me of course.

What really gets to me is this Lt that I had the "privilege" of working with a few weekends back. He graduated OBLC before I did and is STILL having to be "oriented" to nursing. They even had to send him to a refresher course. YET, because he passes PT and ht/wt, he is a 1LT. In no way does he understand or provide BASIC nursing practice, which should be a CORE requirement for promotion, but here he is, out ranking me. It just chaps my hide.

But, given a few days to think about it, I don't care. There for a while I was thinking "whats the point?" I bust my ass day in and day out. I'm a good nurse, have several leadership roles on my unit, but they won't promote me d/t my weight. It seemed useless. However today (I started this blog a few days ago) I have a new additude. I am going to continue busting my ass. I am going to lose this weight. And I am going to get promoted and prove everyone wrong.

Lately I have lost sight of my normal good attitude. I used to wake up each day and tell myself "its going to be great no matter what" and it worked! I think I need to start my self talk motivation again.

Thats enough for this one, I will write more tonight about my Dr appt and weight loss this week... yay!

Have a super day and remember it is SUPER!

Week 2

Started week two on this thing... 5 full weeks to go! I also started phentermine, but it definitely hasn't kicked in yet... I'm hungry already! Went into work today, but they didn't need me so I am back home. Gonna clean the house after some eliptical. We rearranged some furniture yesterday to get the machine in our bedroom, it was in the garage before. It's easier for me to get on it and watch a video or TV show than to get wrapped up in "thinking" in the garage. Plus it gets WAY to hot out there! I have lost 13 lbs since I started (something like 9 last week). I am hoping the phentermine will help. I was disappointed at my Dr. Appt yesterday b/c I didn't get my B12 shot. But, since I got called off work I am going to go get it today. Hopefully it will help with my energy levels. Anywho, just rambling, but this seems to help. I love this site!

Starting this time for the last time!

I started dieting hard core last Tuesday. I went and saw Dr. Carreon at the Center for Medical Weight loss. I am not on a 800 calorie, basically liquid diet. I have lost 12 lbs total since I started. It has been rough... I REALLY miss real food! But it is great to get on the scale each morning and see my progress. I start on phentermine this Tuesday after my appointment with the Dr and trainer. I really hope it helps! I have noticed that I am less and less hungry as the days go by.

My reason for dieting... I am an active duty RN and I want to PROMOTE! I have had a knee injury and some "hormone problems" that have not only prevented weight loss, but caused weight gain and it SUCKS! Not only that, but I want to be healthy and feel good again. Hopefully I can reach my goal weight of 150 lbs pretty quickly, but manage to keep it off as well. Anyways, thats enough for now.

Night Night!
