What goes UP must come DOWN
I thought being back to work was going to help me get back in my
routine. I prayed it would -- because a week ago Saturday I weighed in
at 110 kilos (242.51) meaning I'd gained 6.17 pounds from the previous
week! What the?? Well what goes UP most certainly must come DOWN
again, right?
So last week I chose my meals carefully, all things I knew I'd enjoy
but that would be low fat, averaging 1700 calories or so each day, and
keeping close to my 65/20/15 ratio (that's percentage of
carbs/protein/fat). I stuck to it very well, and am happy to report I
dropped 6.61 pounds last week, weighing in yesterday at 107 kilos
(235.89 pounds).
I'm happy with that, and I'm sure it was mostly water weight anyway,
but it sure frustrates the hell out of me when you see a gain of that
size in a week.
Back to work again and yes, that makes it much easier to stick to a
healthy eating routine for me. But fitting in exercise was tougher --
I've been putting in overtime again this week to work on our employee
training videos. I don't have video editing software or access to a
video camera at work, so I do that at home after work. It has taken a
lot of hours, but I finally got it done and pulled it all together in
iDVD, dropped in the company logos, graphics, etc. and it looks pretty
professional. I ended up having to add a few more segments this
weekend, so I hope to have it finalized in the coming week. That,
combined with all the rain we're getting, and I didn't get much
exercise in, but since I dropped over 6-1/2 pounds, I'm not
complaining. Now I've just got to keep it moving this week.
I've been on a kick to try some new recipes with pumpkin, so I've planned a few of those this week. This pumpkin oatmeal
from Caitlin's blog looks divine, so I can't wait to try that. Of
course we don't have canned pumpkin in the stores here in Australia, so
I'll have to cook up my own pumpkin, but it should still be good.
I've also found a black bean and quinoa chili recipe that looks really
nice, so I'm going to give that a try. I've never tried quinoa before,
so wish me luck. It's a bit pricey here, so I hope I like it or I'll
have a whole package to toss. Again, can't buy canned black beans in
Australia, but I can find dry ones in the ethnic shops, so I'll have to
make my own.
Off to make a pizza roll for lunch and then do our grocery shopping.
