OF COURSE it's snowing NOW. Couldn't we have gotten something to ski or snowshoe on this weekend? Heaven forbid! Only time will tell if we'll get enough to last through next weekend.
Speaking of weekends, I ate like a pig and drank like a fish. Couple that with the impending visit from TOM, it's no wonder the scale is WAY up this morning. Not to worry, though! I'm right back on track this morning: The Firm's 40-minute Ultimate Fat Burning DVD and a brisk hour-long walk this morning kicked my butt in gear. Tomorrow it'll be another long walk plus The Firm's Power Yoga. Go girl!
Of course I will also be back to my normal, boring eating habits this week. Gotta keep up with the water, you know! Hehehe.... That scale WILL drop back down by Saturday.
Saturday night we had a great time with my husband's curling friends. For those of you who haven't a clue what curling is (aka Shelley), picture shuffleboard on ice. The hitch is you don't just throw your "rock" down to the target at the other end, you actually have to "sweep" the ice with a broom to get it moving faster. Google it if you're interested. I am not a fan of the sport, as I don't like to be cold.
We played Scene It, TV Edition, Party Pictionary, and Catch Phrase (our favorite). I had lots of fat-laden finger foods, a few veggie sticks, a couple of Bloody Caesars (like Bloody Marys), and several glasses of wine. Yes, there was dessert too. Ah, well. The damage is done and now I'm moving on.
Gotta go - always lots of work to do on Mondays. I'll catch up with you soon!
I am so happy - I got my Grey's Anatomy fix last night. Finally a new episode - w00t w00t! Of course I HAD to watch the whole thing, so ended up hitting the sack at 10:00 pm. Boy was I exhausted this morning! SO...
I had a short and LAZY workout this morning and went back to bed. I got up at my usual time of 4:30 am and ate a piece of toast. Looking outside, I saw how dry it was - not an ounce of snow on the streets. It started snowing very lightly so I said WTF and headed out. WELL - that soon changed. By the time I got to the end of my driveway, the snow was coming down full force. The road was covered by the time I got to the Stop sign. Needless to say, I only walked a few blocks for a total of 20 minutes.
Still exhausted despite the winter shock, I just did NOT have the energy for The Firm's Ultimate Fat Blasting Workout - so I hopped back into bed and slept until 7:15 am. Of course I feel like crap now because I was running too late to grab a shower and fix my hair. I look and feel like death. Oh, well. At least I'm tucked away alone in my office. I don't have to see ANYONE. Thank goodness!
Unfortunately the snow won't be sticking around long enough for me to take my kids cross-country skiing this weekend. We're expecting rain the rest of the day, then clouds all weekend. Oh, well!
Tomorrow night Hubby invited his curling team for supper. Time to clean house again - crap! It will be hard to stay on plan, too. We're not having a formal supper, opting instead to serve hors d'oeuvres throughout the evening. There will be a veggie platter and cheese, though, so I'll try to stick to those. Of course there will be plenty of wine, too. Help!
Sunday we have NOTHING planned. Maybe we'll take in a movie - we'll see. I wouldn't mind just hanging out in my jammies all day.
Have a wonderful Friday and enjoy your weekend. I'll be back Monday. HUGS!
Bowling went fairly well last night: 115-159-126, pretty much my average. Our team sucked pretty bad but we had a great time (when we weren't bagging about our lack of skill).
This morning I opted to sleep in after getting to bed past 11:00 pm. I did, however, do my 30-minute Firm Power Yoga DVD. Oh - and I'm down again, this time to 165.4. I'm THIS close to reaching the 163-lb mark recorded back in mid-December. Onward and downward!
I'm looking forward to a relaxing evening at home tonight. Hubby isn't curling until 9:00 pm, so we don't have to rush supper. We're having 3-cheese tortellini with rosée sauce and garlic bread - pure decadence! Every once in awhile it's not so bad, right? But I digress...
It's supposed to snow the next couple of days. It is also supposed to freeze rain. Lovely. Thank goodness I've got plenty of cardio DVDs if I have to remain indoors tomorrow morning. I really must look into getting some more Firm videos - they're quite good. They have a cool-looking step also, but I have yet to see it in any store in our area. Time to do some research!
Okay - that's enough of the over and under 20-lb loss mark. I intend to keep that darn weight off FOR GOOD this time. My goal for January 31st is to hit 160. So there.
This morning I braved the wind and walked 40 minutes. Upon arriving home I did 25 minutes of my Firm Ultimate Fat Burning Workout. I just wanted to get my weights done, so skipped the kickboxing segment. Next time I'll do the whole video first, then go for my walk. Tomorrow I'll do my walk plus Power Yoga. That's the plan, anyway. I usually sleep in Thursday mornings because I bowl until late.
I just got off the phone with my BFF who has gotten back into her fitness routine after slacking for several months. I'm thrilled to be able to talk to her about weightloss again. Unfortunately neither of us have been able to get our other BFF into some kind of fitness regime. She's one of these people who constantly complains about how her clothes are too tight, how gross she feels, etc., but refuses to actually get out and do anything about it. We have tried to encourage her to start walking, but she refuses. Looks like she'll have to find her own motivation, because we've tried just about everything.
Stupid American elections! They actually cut off my TBL last night, switching to live coverage of the New Hampshire riding. Ugh! Thankfully I was able to tape it on another channel at midnight. DD and I watched the rest this morning. I still don't have a team preference, although I do find myself cheering for the blue team.
You ladies have certainly been busy typing away. I was all caught up with my Google Reader, but now it tells me I have 25 posts to read through. Yikes! I'll get to them all, though (eventually).
OH MY GOD - you guys have never eaten a Whippet? You don't know what you've been missing! Enjoy real chocolate decadence with Whippet Cookies – crunchy biscuits topped with fluffy marshmallow then enrobed in rich chocolate.
This morning I was up at 4:30 am (ugh!) for my 35-minute walk outdoors. Unfortunately I had to wear my boots over my running shoes because of all the melting snow. I can't wait to be able to jog again! When I returned, I did The Firm's 35-minute Power Yoga video. Now I'm all set to start the day!
Last night my daughter had ringuette practice. She gave me crap on the way out of the arena because I didn't watch her - I was busy exercising my brain with her Nintendo DS Brain Age 2 console. I've got to tell you, time sure flies when you're doing brain training & Sudoku!
Sorry guys - that's all I've got for today. I have to run now and catch up with my work. Talk to you soon!
My goodness, you certainly are all very persistent. Thanks for worrying about me. I'm FINALLY back into my normal routine, so HERE I AM! I missed you guys so much! I should be able to catch up with you all by the end of the week.
Let's see: my brother's wedding went very well. My mother was ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. My father (her ex) isn't very expressive, but his eyes showed how impressed he was with how she looked. She was on top of the world! The wedding itself was very simple and we were home by 11:00 pm or so.
The holidays were fairly quiet. The only exercise I got was from shoveling snow. I did, however, get tons of brain exercise with my daughter's Nintendo DS, Brain Age 2. I am a Sudoku maniac!
This morning I am back into the game. I did my new Firm Ultimate Fat Burning workout with 3-lb weights. I'm also back to eating the same old veggie soup & tuna for lunch. Yay.
I managed to put on only one pound since my last report December 19th. Not too shabby, considering I didn't eat very well at all. We saw National Treasure yesterday, and I ate popcorn and a bag of M&Ms. For dessert last night I had a piece of triple chocolate cake and 2 Whippets. I figure I may as well enjoy my last day of heavenly bliss....
Tonight my baby has a ringuette practice, so supper will be a rushed plate of spaghetti. I should probably steam some broccoli to go with it. We'll see.
Have a wonderful day, everyone! HAPPY NEW YEAR! I promise I'll catch up with you as soon as I can.
Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. Busy, busy, busy - you know how it is! I just stopped in to wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR.
I will try to check in on you soon. Meanwhile, I will think of you each and every day. Good luck sticking to your fitness goals throughout the remainder of 2007. Keep healthy and stay safe!
I was SO not in the mood to work out this morning, but I forced myself to. I hadn't watched all of TBL last night, so I told myself I couldn't watch the rest until I did my strength training. I hated every minute of it, but got through.
Did you enjoy the finale? I did, but would have liked to see more of the trainers. They didn't even get to speak. Anyway that's all I'm going to say about it because I'm sure many of you are itching to see it for yourselves.
Many of you asked about the language issue in our home. Both my husband and I have English mother tongues (that sounds weird, doesn't it?). Anyway, our girls are in a French Immersion program at an English school. Their teachers would like us to speak more French at home to help them integrate better, but it just isn't natural for us. The only time I ever speak French at home is when I'm REALLY REALLY MAD. I don't know - French cuss words come out so well! LOL! We'll likely have to make a decision about their schooling by February. Decision pending...
The girls and I got our hair trimmed last night. It was a cute all-girls outing. Now we're all set for my brother's wedding on Saturday. It's not a big wedding, as they are both entering into a second marriage. We'll only be around 20 people or so at the Justice of the Peace, followed by a small reception in the local chicken place (don't ask...). Let's just say I'm not too concerned about primping for this occasion.
Bowling tonight. I'm hoping for some big numbers. Go Queens!
Have a wonderful day, everyone!
Angel
PS My mother is all excited because she met her pre-wedding goal of 180 lbs. Yay Mom! She wants to look hot Saturday night because my dad (whom she left when he cheated on her) will be there and he hasn't seen her since she started losing...
The proof is in the scales. There is NO WAY I can let myself go this holiday season. Four days of mindless eating, coupled with the ingestion of high levels of sodium, has put me back up to my 20-lb loss mark. That's a gain of 3 lbs, ladies. THIS HAS GOT TO STOP.
So... I forced myself up yet again and went a few rounds with Billy Blanks this morning. Granted I was rather uncoordinated, but I imagine it will become easier as I practice. It is WAY too cold to walk, so I'm just going to hop in the shower and call it a day.
Sorry I didn't get around to commenting yesterday. Mondays are always hectic, plus I have much to do at work before shutting down for the holidays. Still no rest for the wicked!
I am considering switching my kids to a French school in September. I just have to convince my husband that this would be the best option. Right now they are in French Immersion in an English school. Problem is there is no English high school close by. They would have to go to this HUGE English school 40 minutes away - a high school I REFUSE to send them to. There are a whole whack of excellent French high schools in our area, two of which would be our top choice for them. English schools here are underfunded because few people are allowed to send their children there (you need a government-issued certificate to qualify for English education). Anyway, I sincerely feel the girls would have a better chance for success in a good French high school if they went to a French elementary school. Besides I wouldn't want to wait until they're in their final year to change schools. Many of our friends have switched, so I feel our kids would adjust very quickly.
Other than that, there's not much new up here in my neck of the woods. I hope we don't get anymore snow for awhile - there's no place left to put it!
Have a wonderful day, everyone! I'll try to check in with you throughout the day.
What a storm we had yesterday - 24 inches in some areas! We're still digging ourselves out. On the bright side, today is another SNOW DAY! The kids are at home with Hubby and I'm here at work.
I didn't eat very well this weekend. Somehow about a dozen miniature M&M and Snickers bars made their way into my mouth. Last night we went to a Xmas party where I ate pretty well. The women there insisted I eat more, saying it was a "free/no diet" day. No thanks - I've worked too hard to get where I am today. All my black pants are swimming on me, including the pair I could barely fit into the last night of our cruise last year.
This morning I forced myself to do my strength training. I almost crawled back into bed several times, but couldn't stand the thought of watching the scale climb back up. So I toughed it out and came to work 2 hours early. Yay!
Boy, was I exhausted this weekend! I had a nagging cold which sapped me of all my energy. I did NO housecleaning, opting instead to catch up on my tv programs all weekend. Plus I fell asleep early both Friday and last night. Saturday we played cards at a friend's house and didn't get to bed until after 11:00 pm.
I'm meeting my mom for lunch today. I sure could go for a piping hot bowl of pasta. Mmmm..... and a glass of wine, of course. Bon appétit!
Have a wonderful day, everyone. Keep safe and warm!
