Pity Party

Good morning!

You guys are too good to be true.  Thanks so much for sending me your well wishes!  I've been caught up in a pity party now for way too long now.  Granted the pain in my back and leg hasn't abated much, but at least I can walk better now.  Unfortunately I cannot exercise, which is driving me completely batty.  As you know, I am an all-or-nothing kind of gal, so my eating habits have suffered right along with the lack of movement.  Easter weekend was an all-out chocolate and junk food fest - time to end the madness!

So here I am, ready to confess my sins and get out of this awful rut I'm in.  I refuse to return to the 190-lb person I used to be.  So there.

Enjoy your day.  I hope to catch up with all of you soon.  Love ya!

Still Alive - barely...

Hello, Ladies!  I am overwhelmed by all your concern - thanks for checking up on me.  Unfortunately I suffered a lumbar sprain and am trying to deal with the nasty case of sciatica it has brought on.  You may remember awhile back I said I had a sore back - turns out it's a serious, painful injury.  So much for my A-List Workout!

I am taking pills for pain, inflammation, and muscle relaxation.  I have also started seeing a physiotherapist, upon the recommendation of the hospital doctor I waited 10 HOURS to see last Tuesday.  I missed several days of work, and am still trying to get it all done.

Thank goodness Hubby has been around.  I can't even make lunches for my girls!  I can't wait for this pain to go away so I can get back on track.  I am petrified of what the scale might say, so it remains banished to the downstairs bathroom.

I'm sorry I haven't had the energy to catch up on your blogs.  I promise to be back when I'm better (hopefully really soon).

I miss you all very much - you are always in my thoughts!

M.I.A.

Hello ladies!  Just a quick note to let you know I'm fine, just very busy.  Please don't be concerned - I'll get back on here eventually.  Thanks for understanding!

I Will Prevail!

There is a box of chocolate bars sitting on my desk, each with a calorie count of between 350 and 390 calories, 39-60 grams of carbs.  God help me, I will NOT succomb to the temptation.  9 bars left to sell in order to raise money for DD's school.  Can't they sell fruit instead?  Fruit I can handle!

Return of the A-List Eskimo

Good morning!

Well, the back is much better this morning.  I was reflecting on my one-year EP anniversary yesterday and decided what better way to start the new year than a return to my A-List Workout.  I got all my equipment out, preparing even the eskimo suit so I wouldn't chicken out of my walk this morning.

I'm proud to say I awoke at 4:20 am and did the entire workout, 3 sets of each strength move, for a total of approx 90 minutes.  I then geared up and braved the arctic cold - total walking time 35 minutes.  Man, do I feel ENERGIZED!

I'm meeting my BFFs for lunch today at a potential locale for our bowling banquet.  We get to bring our own wine, so you know what that means!  At least I feel I EARNED the right to partake in a glass or two today.

Speaking of bowling, I scored 161-180-132 (65 pins over average).  Not too shabby!

DD has a ringette tournament all weekend (again).  If she wins her first game Saturday morning, she'll play again on Sunday.  Should her team lose, she'll have to play again Saturday afternoon (in a different town).  Both arenas are about an hour from my house.

That's all for today, folks.  Have a wonderful weekend!

Anniversary

Good morning!

I just saw KillerHair's blog and realized today was also my 1-year anniversary here at EP.  Boy, time sure does fly!  I can't believe I've stuck with this lifestyle change for this long.  Of course, I've had my ups and downs, but have done pretty well so far.  Thanks to you for all your support!

My back is a little better this morning.  My mother sent me for a one-hour massage session yesterday afternoon.  Needless to say I'm still too sore to do my regular exercises, but plan to get back on track by next week at the latest.

My eating hasn't been horrible.  Thanks to the healthy habits I've adopted over the last year, I still don't eat past suppertime.  I also limit my portions and try to stick to veggies and whole grains.  Now if I can just curb the wine and cheese, I might actually hit my goal weight before my 39th birthday in September.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Back Pain

Good morning!

Sorry I've been MIA.  My back pain isn't getting much better, so I haven't been exercising much.  Since I am an all-or-nothing person, my eating hasn't been the best either.  Blogging, too, has gone on the back burner, so to speak.  I haven't been walking because of the crappy weather and I'm anxious to get back to that.

So...  I put the scale in the downstairs bathroom so I wouldn't be tempted to step on it.  My husband asked why I moved it - he laughed when I told him it wasn't being nice to me.  I nearly died when I saw 167 yesterday morning.  I really must get back on track ASAP.

Don't worry, my fair ladies, I've been reading your posts.  I just don't know when I'll have the time and energy to comment.  Maybe tomorrow...

Have a great day, everyone!

Let It Snow... Again!

Good morning!

We're getting dumped on again.  10 inches expected, followed by freezing rain before noon.  Oh joy.  Needless to say I had to re-schedule my podiatrist appointment - I'll have to wait another 2 weeks to have my feet scraped.

My back is feeling better - thanks for all your well wishes.  This morning I did my Firm Ultimate Fat Burning DVD, followed by Power Yoga.  It felt good to stretch.

I reminded myself last night why I do not bake.  I made cupcakes for the girls to decorate and take to school tomorrow.  I don't remember the last time I had cake batter - boy did it ever bring back memories of when I was a kid (a fat kid, that is).  I had a couple spoonfuls, but felt like crap afterwards.  Literally, my stomach kinda revolted and my throat kept closing up on me.  The girls will be decorating them after school, so I'll have to avoid the icing entirely.  Thankfully I'll be heading off to bowling.  Out of sight, out of mind, right?

Crap - I just remembered we'll be celebrating Valentine's Day tonight.  We all know what that means - chocolates.  The committee will be putting out truffles and chocolate hearts.  Ugh!  I'd better bring tons of water to keep my hands and mouth busy.  Help!

Enjoy your day!

Back Pain

Good morning!

Looks like it's my turn to have back pain.  I brought over my old computer to my mom's yesterday and managed to pull something.  Great.  Needless to say I didn't bother getting up to exercise this morning, although I should probably have done some yoga.  I took some Robaxicet (sp?), so am much better now.

Reason number two for not exercising:  slight hangover.  We (meaning ME) had a little too much wine at the bowling meeting last night.  Can you spell headache?  Of course it was a late night, too.  Back to the exercise grind tomorrow!

DD is feeling better.  Turns out she has strep throat and is on antibiotics for 10 days.  She is home from school today, so my eldest is royally pissed she can't stay home too.  Kids - gotta love them!  Fortunately hubby doesn't go back to work until Thursday, so I don't have to miss work.

I won't bother posting pics of the new haircut and color - I pretty much look the same as the pics on the right.  No one, not even my husband and kids, have noticed the difference.

Have a great day, everyone!

The Weekend

Good morning!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend.  Mine wasn't the greatest, as my youngest DD came down with some kind of stomach flu.  She threw up all day Saturday, and was slightly feverish all weekend.  Today she stayed home while my oldest went on a ped day trip with her school daycare.  Hubby is taking her to her pediatrician this afternoon.

Friday I went for my highlights and cut.  It turned out great, actually.  Now I don't have to see my hairdresser for at least a month.  Saturday I went for my remineralizing body wrap - pure bliss!  We were supposed to take the kids cross-country skiing Saturday night, but stayed home to take care of our little girl.

Yesterday I took my oldest DD to the Hannah Montana - Miley Cyrus 3D movie.  It was okay - she enjoyed it.  I found it didn't last long enough, barely an hour and a half.  Afterwards we ran some errands.  It was nice to spend the day alone together.

Tonight I have to attend a bowling committee meeting to discuss the banquet in May.  I'm tempted to tell them I have to stay home to care for my DD (my mother is supposed to watch the kids while I'm out).  I'll see how she is when I get home and decide then.  I really don't feel like going out tonight - it's going down to -0.4F tonight!

I did pretty well with my eating this weekend.  DD and I had some pasta before the movie, and I had a salad with it instead of the bread.  At the movie I had half a junior popcorn with a Diet Coke.  I managed not to give in to the M&M temptation.  At my MIL's, I resisted the dreaded Whippets I told you about the other day.  No chocolate for me this weekend - whew!

This morning it was back to business:  Billy's Bootcamp Elite Mission Two plus Scott Pilates.  I'm hoping to break the 163-lb barrier this week.

I'll try to do some commenting on your blogs today.  Monday at work is pretty busy, so I might have to catch up tomorrow.  Meantime, please know you're all in my thoughts.  Enjoy your day!
