Lovin' TOM

Good morning!

Indeed, you read the title right.  Since TOM arrived I've been Extra Regular, FYI if you know what I mean.  It's detox time, baby!  Hopefully he'll give me a good enough cleansing to bring my weight down below 170 by Friday.

Extrapounds wrote to tell me the email notification problem has been corrected.  We'll see about that!  I hope they're right.

The finger is much better, thanks.  It feels much better today - in fact I no longer need a Band Aid.  Does that mean I'm going to do the Anti-Jiggle 15-minute workout this afternoon?  I don't honestly know.  We'll see!

This morning I did my T-Tapp DVD, followed by a 30-minute walk.  My body was in no mood to Fartlek (sorry Chargail), so I didn't jog (maybe tomorrow...)  I would have walked longer, but I had laundry to finish before work.  Not a bad morning, though.  My total workout time was 75 minutes.

Bowling tonight - as always I'm looking forward to that.  The regular season starts tonight, so I hope to increase my average.

Have a wonderful, healthy day everyone!!!

Switching Things Up, Part Deux

Thanks Kimby & Shelley for your suggestions.  Unfortunately water intake is not the problem.  I drink 2-3 L every day, all day long.  Actually, TOM just pulled in the driveway, so I think I have my explanation for yesterday's constant cravings.

As for switching things up today, I'll have to put that on hold.  I was opening my dad's jar of veggie soup and sliced my finger open (on the knuckle).  I don't think I'll need stitches, but I can't bend it without bleeding.  Not pleasant.

Talk to y'all real soon, ya hear?  He he...

Switching Things Up

Good morning!

I thought I'd add a little spice to my regular old boring workout routines.  I walk/jog 5-6 days per week anywhere between 40-90 minutes each morning, plus a 45-minute T-Tapp DVD 2-3 times per week for strength training.  Since T-Tapp does not require any equipment, I thought I'd start throwing in some 15-minute weight sessions at lunchtime here at work.

SO...  I sifted through my Fitness magazines and came up with several 15-20 minute sessions easily doable in my office.

SO... today I brought my exercise mat and an exercise band to work.  From the September 2007 issue, I'm going to use the Express Fitness workout to "Tone Your Jiggle Zones."  Tomorrow I'll try something else.  Should be interesting!

This morning I did a lot of jogging throughout my powerwalk.  I also threw in some sidestepping and did my usual walk-up-a-hill-backwards to blast off some extra calories.  Needless to say I was pooped after the 85-minute ordeal (LOL - actually it was quite refreshing).

I'm always hungry.  Man, do I hate that.  Yesterday I had the usual big breakfast - whole grain toast with sugarfree peanutbutter, oatmeal with bran buds and flax seeds, and orange juice.  By 9:30 I was starving, but had no fruit on hand, so I ate a small can of tuna.  By 11:05 I was DYING, so had a huge bowl of homemade veggie soup, followed by another small can of tuna.  Still hungry, I had about a cup of baby carrots.  By 2:00 my tummy was going nuts, so I tamed it with a handful of almonds.  Half an hour later I was hungry again.  Thank goodness we no longer have a vending machine here - I think I just might have attacked it!  SO.... today I brought the rest of my bottle of Hoodia to work.  I am not a fan of appetite suppressants, but if this continues I'm going to have to have one or two before lunch.

I haven't weighed myself since Saturday.  If I can restrain myself, I'll weigh in only on Friday.  Wish me luck!!!

Have a great day, everyone!

Crazy Weekend

Good morning!

What a weekend I had - no rest for the wicked, I guess.  Friday night and Saturday morning I got my laundry done and started cleaning the house.  From 9-10 am Saturday I took my daughter to her ringuette (girl's hockey), then I dropped my oldest daughter off at Hip Hop from 11-12.  In between I cleaned my bathroom.  After DD's class, I drove to the grocery store to pick stuff up for our BBQ, then dropped her off at a friend's house (approx 30 minutes away).  Thank goodness my youngest's birthday party was delayed to Sunday, because I don't know how I would have coordinated that one!

Anyway, our guests started arriving for the BBQ around 3:30 pm Saturday.  Despite the cold wind and rain, we had a wonderful time, albeit indoors.  8 adults 8 kids (ages 1 1/2 - 9) - let's say it wasn't very relaxing.  Everyone was gone by midnight.

Fast forward to Sunday.  After sleeping in a little (and popping 2 Tylenols), I took my youngest to yet another ringuette practice from 11:30-12:30.  Afterwards I had to take her to the postponed b-day party.  We met my dad for lunch, then drove my oldest to her friend's for a playdate.  Then I went home to clean the mess from the night before.  I finally got a chance to nap a little about an hour before I had to pick up the kids.  For supper we went to my in-laws - at least I didn't have to cook!

I watched the Emmy awards last night.  Would I LOVE to be able to look fab and glam in those gowns!  I was awed by those actresses who recently had babies and it doesn't even show.  Take Jaime Pressly (Joy, My Name is Earl).  She gave birth in MAY 2007 (4 months ago), and she looks fabulous.  She says she exercises really hard 2 hours per day, 5 days per week.  Also, she did the cabbage soup diet twice.  Marcia Cross gave birth to twins in FEBRUARY 2007 - she looks STUNNING.

So...  I thought of these women this morning as I sweated through my T-Tapp video.  They inspired me to Fartlek my heart out, too, for an extra 40 minutes.  I may not have an expensive personal trainer, but I KNOW I can do this on my own (with your support, of course).

Enjoy your Monday!

Batteries are in

Good morning!

Well, I put the batteries back in - my SCALE (capitalized for all you dirty minds out there).  I was tired of seeing that HUGE 172 staring at me every morning for the last week.  So I am once again close hovering over the 169 mark.  Slowly but surely...

This morning I did my T-Tapp DVD, followed by a 45-minute walk.  I attempted the Fartleking thing again but couldn't jog very long, as I really really really had to go to the bathroom.  Don't you just hate that?

Last night I lifted the Pasta Ban.  Yep - I had to take my kids to open their bank account last night so we ate at the mall.  The kids and I wanted Chinese from the food court, but Hubby refused to eat there.  Instead we had to eat in the restaurant, which had all huge meals.  Instead of General Tao chicken, I had to settle for linguini with Gigi sauce (without the ham).  Of course, I HAD to drink a glass of red wine with that.  On the bright side, I had no bread, nor dessert.  I didn't finish my plate, either.  The food was excellent, but could have fed two of us.

I'm having lunch with my Mom today.  I won't see her all weekend, as she is heading out to Brampton this afternoon.  I wish I could have gone with her, but my schedule is jam packed all weekend.  Yes, we're having yet another BBQ on Saturday.  Can you spell daiquiris & margaritas?  I'll try to drink them s-l-o-w-l-y so as not to have too many.  God help me!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!!!!

I am a Fartleker

Good morning!

Indeed, you read that right.  I Am A Fartleker.  Let me explain...  this morning I kicked my walk up a notch by increasing the number of times I broke into a light jog.  Every once in awhile, whenever I felt like it, I would pick two landmarks and jog between them.  For example, I would start jogging at the next mailbox down to the stop sign.  It was actually kind of fun!  So this morning I walked/jogged a whopping 95 minutes - yay me!

As I was entering the last half hour of my walk, I ran into none other than MY MOM.  It was so funny - she was walking down the street toward me, but didn't realize it was me.  Actually, I didn't recognize her at first either - I thought she was my friend CC, who is around my age.  Let me tell you, my Mom is looking AMAZING!

Bowling last night was fun.  My best score was a 148 (3rd string).  Hopefully I'll get my average above last year's, which was 133.  It's nice to have other goals outside of weight loss.

Still no battery in my scale - I'm debating whether or not to change it so I can weigh in tomorrow morning.  We'll see...

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Inspired by The Biggest Loser

Good morning!

I did it, ladies!  Despite the wind and rain this morning, I got out there and walked for 75 minutes from 5:15 to 6:30 am.  Thanks to Chargail, I did some Fartleking as well.  Throughout my walk I replayed last night's Biggest Loser in my mind.  The workouts they endured were TORTURE compared to what I did today.  Hats off to all of them - I'm not sure I could get through it.  As for the Blue Team Captain who lost 31 lbs - wow.  Is that even healthy?  How is that remotely possible?

Anyhoo, I'm rooting for the Black Team.  Won't the other team members FREAK when they return next week?  I guess that means I'll be tuning in to watch.  Truthfully, I only watched it last night because I knew it would be a hot topic of conversation on this website today.

I have yet to replace the battery in my scale.  Not weighing in every day is oddly liberating...

Bowling tonight.  I'm looking forward to it, as usual.

Have a great day, everyone!!!!!!!

Pasta Ban

Good morning!

I am currently on a self-imposed pasta ban.  I've been eating the stuff EVERY DAY since Saturday - and it has to stop (for now).

I had a great workout this morning:  45 minutes of T-Tapp, followed by a 1-hour walk.  I got back just in time, as it started to spit rain.

I had a wonderful birthday yesterday.  Thanks to all of your kind words and the multitude of messages I received from Facebook pals, not to mention the outpouring of love from my family and friends, I feel truly blessed.  My mom is too funny - she brought me a WW single cake for dessert.  Unfortunately it tasted like cardboard to me, but thank goodness I don't have leftover birthday cake to tempt me all week!

Last night I went to bingo with my BFFs.  SS won $200, VD won $75.  As usual, LD and I left empty-handed.  We had a great time, though!

Have a wonderful day, everyone!!!!

Overweight at 38, Fit and Fine by 39

Good morning!

That's my new motto.  Today I turn 38, and I fully intend to live out the rest of my years as a healthy and fit woman.  So There!  At least that's what I told myself over and over this morning when I convinced myself to do my walk at 4:30 am.  It would have been so easy to skip a workout today, given that it IS my birthday and I can do whatever I want.  HOWEVER, I wrote on my calendar that I would work out 6 days per week this month.  Besides, I also had Richard Simmons' voice in my ear telling me that I only have to exercise if I want to eat - and I fully intend to eat today!

So, a funny thing happened on my 75-minute walk this morning.  I went to take a sip out of my water bottle and whacked myself in the lip with it.  All I could taste for the next 20 minutes was blood.  At work this morning I spilled coffee onto my lap - I'll give you one guess as to what it looks like I just did.  Not pretty!  I'm going to bingo with my BFFs tonight, so hopefully this rotten luck won't last all day!

I'm meeting my Mom for lunch at one of my favorite restaurants.  I foresee more pasta on the horizon...   Saturday night was fun - we went for a decadent pasta supper, followed by 3 strings of bowling.  Unfortunately one of my BFFs couldn't come, as she was feeling under the weather.

My little one started ringuette (hockey for girls) this weekend.  She absolutely LOVES this sport.  Unfortunately I'll be spending a lot of time in cold arenas this winter.  Ugh!  She's so cute, though...

Enough babbling for today.  I wish each and every one of you a wonderful, healthful day!!!
