I am ON TOP of the world this morning. I had to step back up on the scale several times because I couldn't believe what I was seeing: 166.4. That's 20.2 lbs gone since February! Happy dance!
I decided to give my ankle one more day of rest, so I slept in an extra hour. I did, however, get up in time to do my 45-minute weight training program. Better than nothing, right? I'll do my flexibility exercises and walk tomorrow - promise!
I did something really stupid yesterday. I left work a little early because I had several errands to run. By the time I got out of the grocery store I had less than 30 minutes to pick my kids up at school. I was so rushed, I left my husband's case of beer in the cart. It wasn't until I got home and watched hubby uncap a bottle that I realized what I had done. I called the store immediately, but they confirmed someone had already taken off with it. Oh, well, I guess I'll just have to chalk it up to a "senior moment". Thankfully it was a 12-pack, and not a 24. Hey - it made someone's day, right?
Although I didn't do an official walk yesterday morning, I made sure to park really far from the stores I had to visit. Because I was limited in time, I really hussled. I think I got a decent amount of cardio out of it, although I didn't break a sweat.
I started watching TBL this morning before driving the girls to school. I can't wait to see the rest when I get home. I can tell you one thing - I will definitely keep those trainers in my head while I'm away next week. If all goes well, I won't gain 10 pounds in Cancun.
I'm meeting my mom for lunch today. She's flying to Toronto tomorrow morning for a 4-day shopping trip with her sister in Philadelphia. I'm sure she'll have a great time.
Have a wonderful, healthful day today, my friends. Thanks so much for your continuing support. I couldn't do this without each and every one of you!
You read that right - I did NOT exercise this morning. My ankle was really sore yeterday so I figured it would be best if I skipped my walk this morning. The last thing I need is to limp through my vacation next week. Actually, it feels much better already. Hopefully I'll be able to get back on track tomorrow.
The scale read 167.4 this morning - 0.8 lbs left to go for 20. Onward and downward!
I survived the weekend - I did not gain a single ounce! Friday night we had an amazing meal for our 11th wedding anniversary. Both of us had veal, but with different sauces - exquisite! We shared a whole bottle of wine, but skipped dessert.
Saturday we drove up to Morin Heights for a BBQ. Despite the TONS of food offered, I stuck to one "sample" plate and loaded it mostly with salad. Trust me - this was a major feat. There were at least 5 kinds of cheese, pizzas, pâtés, oysters, and breads to choose from. I stuck to a half slice of lasagna, a tiny scoop of jumbalaya, and one piece of beef bourgignon. I had a lot of red wine, though, but that's okay.
After the party we drove down to Saint-Sauveur and stayed over at the Travelodge. For breakfast I had one slice of whole wheat bread with peanut butter, a coffee, and a small glass of orange juice. There were bagels and muffins to choose from, but I avoided those. Yay me! We picked up the girls and met my dad for lunch, where I ate 2 poached eggs, one slice of whole wheat toast, and one slice of ham. Not too shabby!
Last night my MIL made a turkey dinner, but I didn't go overboard. I did, however, treat myself to Ah Caramel! cakes. I don't remember the last time I ate chocolate and carmel - to die for!
This morning it was back to the exercise grind. I did 45-minutes of strength training, followed by a 45-minute powerwalk. My inner left ankle is still sore, so I did not jog. Actually, I think I pulled something because my new running shoes are half a size too big. When I wear my old ones, I feel fine.
This morning I decided to lay off the oatmeal for awhile, replacing it with a Vanilla Whey Protein shake. I'm anxious to see if the change will be reflected on the scale. 5 days to Cancun - I really want to lose that last pesky pound!
I am now 1 POUND away from the 20-lb loss mark. This weekend will be quite the challenge to overcome if I'm going to hit 166.6 next week. Today is our 11th wedding anniversary and we're heading out to our favorite Italian restaurant. The plan is to order small quantities and limit myself to one (maybe 1 1/2) glass of wine. Tomorrow we're heading up to Morin Heights / Saint-Sauveur for a BBQ with friends. I will do my very best to limit my alcohol consumption there, too. Wish me luck!
This morning I did my 45-minute strength workout, followed by a 50-minute walk in the rain. I opted not to jog, as I have a painful pull in my inner left ankle. I was going to skip the walk altogether, but decided that a moderate one was better than none at all.
Last night I had my feet scraped - pure bliss for my poor tender tootsies! I'll be walking on air for at least a few weeks. Now all I need is a pedicure - maybe with a little design on my big toes. Gotta have cute feet in Cancun, right?
I started watching The Biggest Loser while eating my oatmeal this morning. I'm anxious to watch the rest, as I will need all the tips I can get to avoid packing on too many pounds on vacation. Since we're going with the kids, though, I'm sure I'll be pretty active throughout our stay.
Have a wonderful day, everyone! Keep safe this weekend.
Yes, bowling sucks. I didn't play well at all last night - I'll blame it on the alleys. Oh, well! My team did really well, though. I'm certain we've gone up a few spots in the standings. Of course I had a good time, and that's what really counts. Oh, I also got 2 compliments from people who said they could tell I was losing weight - Yay!
In case you're interested, the tuna casserole I made last night turned out really yummy. Had there been any leftovers, I could have made wraps out of them. Here's the recipe. If your link doesn't work, go to www.recipezaar.com and search "Best Ever Tuna Noodle Casserole". You can tweak the recipe to your liking. For example, I substituted whole wheat fusilli for egg noodles.
This morning I walked for 80 minutes or so, followed by my flexibility exercises. I am now on Day 1, Week 2 of my A-List Workout. The scale is back down to 168 from 168.4 yesterday, so I assume the water weight incurred from TOM is dissipating.
I just got back from having my nails done - a necessary evil in preparation for our trip. Tomorrow night I'm going to my podiatrist so he can give my feet a good scraping (the joys of high arches).
Nothing much to report today. Same old thing - woke at 4:30 am to do my strength & walking/jogging workout until 6:30 am. That concludes Week 1 of the A-List Workout.
Last night I prepared a tuna casserole I found online, which I will put in the oven tonight. Since it took roughly 20 minutes to prepare, plus another 45 to cook I decided to make it advance so I just have to pop it in the oven when I get home. I'm bowling tonight, so won't have much time to spend in the kitchen.
I was too tired to watch The Biggest Loser last night, so will try to watch it sometime this week. I wish it was on for one hour - 2 hours is such a long time!
TOM is wreaking havoc with the scale - up 0.4 lbs this morning (although I did not update my tracker). Gotta love that water weight!
I finally fit into my new SIZE 6 jeans. Granted, they are snug and give me muffin top, but they'll adjust. When I first tried them on I couldn't get them over my knees! Major accomplishment!
Can you believe I was down to 167 yesterday? TOM arrived this morning and brought me back up to 168, but so what? I have firmly implanted myself into the 160s. Yay!
Despite the long Thanksgiving weekend, I managed to keep up with my workouts and my nutritious eating. I took the girls to see The Game Plan, packing a bag of celery and carrots, plus 2 bottles of water in my purse. I sent the girls to buy themselves a slush and they came back with a huge bag of M&Ms for me - I returned them to the counter. MAJOR accomplishment! I was careful all day because I knew I'd be eating pasta for supper.
This morning I did my flex exercises, followed by a 1.5 hour walk/jog. Yesterday I did my strength exercises and 1.5 hour walk, despite having the day off - another MAJOR accomplishment (granted I went back to bed afterwards...)
I tried on my bathing suits over the weekend, and they're looking pretty darn good. I'd like to find a nice cover-up to walk around in, but they're hard to come by here in October (plus they're expensive). Maybe I'll buy one in Cancun (11 days to go!)
Have a wonderful day everyone! Be sure to stop by Shelley's blog to wish her a very happy birthday.
This morning I broke through my plateau, weighing in at 169 (a number I haven't seen since mid-August). I am on TOP of the world! Cutting calories really did the trick!
Yesterday I went to my doctor's for an annual exam. She was thrilled I've lost 9 lbs since my last visit. Can you believe in 2002 (2 years AFTER giving birth), I weighed 209? It made me realize how far I've come. I told her I'd be 150 by my next appointment (maybe less...). I was 169 on her scale, so I guess mine is pretty accurate. For added exercise, I parked at the mall across the boulevard from her office so I could do some extra walking.
This morning I did the strength portion of my new workout schedule for an hour, followed by a 45-minute walk/jog.
For breakfast I exercised a little portion control - same food as usual, but in smaller quantities. I figure 500 calories for breakfast / 400 for lunch / 300 for supper / 300 for snacks should work out well for me. Time to start journalling! Speaking of calories, I was stunned to see that my one slice of whole grain flax bread has 30 more calories than my kids' SMART bread, with little difference in fibre. How unfair is that? Looks like I'll have to rethink my choice of bread now!
This afternoon I'm off to the hairdresser's for my color and cut. It's not my favorite thing to do, but I only go once every 4 months or so. My, how time flies!
Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends out there. Good luck sticking to your meal plans!!!
I was bagging to my father this morning about my failed weight loss attempts. He suggested I write down everything I eat for a few days and count how many calories I'm ingesting every day. Here I thought I was eating all the right things in all the right quantities - turns out I've been eating 1671 calories BEFORE supper (which is my biggest meal). Lightbulb moment! Why didn't I ever check on that before? Now I have to figure out what I can cut out of my daily intake. Oh, joy.... :-(
This morning I began my 12-week A-List workout - I put my T-Tapp DVD aside for now, although I'll likely do it once per week. I did 15 minutes of flexibility exercises, followed by a 75-minute walk (with several jogs thrown in). What a wonderful way to start off the day!
Guess what? I bowled a 202 last night. I can't believe I've bowled over 200 two weeks in a row (that's a total of 3 times since I started bowling roughly 5 years ago). I'll tell you - my ball was ON FIRE!
Indeed, it was a rough walk this morning. Twenty minutes into it, I had to go to the bathroom REALLY badly. I managed to walk an additional 40 minutes before arriving at my Mom's at 5:50 am. Thankfully she was up preparing for her own walk. I thought I was going to DIE. Needless to say, I didn't get much jogging done until after 6:00 am LOL!
I was supposed to do my T-Tapp DVD before my walk this morning, but decided to put it off until tomorrow. I haven't been getting the expected results from T-Tapp (very disappointed). Don't get me wrong - it's an excellent workout because it builds core muscles, but I really need to do something that will show up on the scale. I plan to redo my A-List 12-week weightloss workout sooner than later. It's pretty intense, so I really have to get myself revved up for it.
I entered my mother, my daughter and myself in our newspaper's Model for a Day contest (Mannequin d'un Jour - Journal de Montréal). Who knows - maybe one of us will get lucky!
Bowling tonight - I'm looking forward to it as always. Have a wonderful day everyone!
