Bowling sucks

Good morning!

Yes, bowling sucks.  I didn't play well at all last night - I'll blame it on the alleys.  Oh, well!  My team did really well, though.  I'm certain we've gone up a few spots in the standings.  Of course I had a good time, and that's what really counts.  Oh, I also got 2 compliments from people who said they could tell I was losing weight - Yay!

In case you're interested, the tuna casserole I made last night turned out really yummy.  Had there been any leftovers, I could have made wraps out of them.  Here's the recipe.  If your link doesn't work, go to www.recipezaar.com and search "Best Ever Tuna Noodle Casserole".  You can tweak the recipe to your liking.  For example, I substituted whole wheat fusilli for egg noodles.

This morning I walked for 80 minutes or so, followed by my flexibility exercises.  I am now on Day 1, Week 2 of my A-List Workout.  The scale is back down to 168 from 168.4 yesterday, so I assume the water weight incurred from TOM is dissipating.

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

Happy Hump Day!

Good morning!

I just got back from having my nails done - a necessary evil in preparation for our trip.  Tomorrow night I'm going to my podiatrist so he can give my feet a good scraping (the joys of high arches).

Nothing much to report today.  Same old thing - woke at 4:30 am to do my strength & walking/jogging workout until 6:30 am.  That concludes Week 1 of the A-List Workout.

Last night I prepared a tuna casserole I found online, which I will put in the oven tonight.  Since it took roughly 20 minutes to prepare, plus another 45 to cook I decided to make it advance so I just have to pop it in the oven when I get home.  I'm bowling tonight, so won't have much time to spend in the kitchen.

I was too tired to watch The Biggest Loser last night, so will try to watch it sometime this week.  I wish it was on for one hour - 2 hours is such a long time!

TOM is wreaking havoc with the scale - up 0.4 lbs this morning (although I did not update my tracker).  Gotta love that water weight!

Have a wonderful day, everyone!

They fit!

Good morning, and what a GREAT morning it is!

I finally fit into my new SIZE 6 jeans.  Granted, they are snug and give me muffin top, but they'll adjust.  When I first tried them on I couldn't get them over my knees!  Major accomplishment!

Can you believe I was down to 167 yesterday?  TOM arrived this morning and brought me back up to 168, but so what?  I have firmly implanted myself into the 160s.  Yay!

Despite the long Thanksgiving weekend, I managed to keep up with my workouts and my nutritious eating.  I took the girls to see The Game Plan, packing a bag of celery and carrots, plus 2 bottles of water in my purse.  I sent the girls to buy themselves a slush and they came back with a huge bag of M&Ms for me - I returned them to the counter.  MAJOR accomplishment!  I was careful all day because I knew I'd be eating pasta for supper.

This morning I did my flex exercises, followed by a 1.5 hour walk/jog.  Yesterday I did my strength exercises and 1.5 hour walk, despite having the day off - another MAJOR accomplishment (granted I went back to bed afterwards...)

I tried on my bathing suits over the weekend, and they're looking pretty darn good.  I'd like to find a nice cover-up to walk around in, but they're hard to come by here in October (plus they're expensive).  Maybe I'll buy one in Cancun (11 days to go!)

Have a wonderful day everyone!  Be sure to stop by Shelley's blog to wish her a very happy birthday.

Breaking Through the Plateau

Good morning, and what a beautiful one it is!!!

This morning I broke through my plateau, weighing in at 169 (a number I haven't seen since mid-August).  I am on TOP of the world!  Cutting calories really did the trick!

Yesterday I went to my doctor's for an annual exam.  She was thrilled I've lost 9 lbs since my last visit.  Can you believe in 2002 (2 years AFTER giving birth), I weighed 209?  It made me realize how far I've come.  I told her I'd be 150 by my next appointment (maybe less...).  I was 169 on her scale, so I guess mine is pretty accurate.  For added exercise, I parked at the mall across the boulevard from her office so I could do some extra walking.

This morning I did the strength portion of my new workout schedule for an hour, followed by a 45-minute walk/jog.

For breakfast I exercised a little portion control - same food as usual, but in smaller quantities.  I figure 500 calories for breakfast / 400 for lunch / 300 for supper / 300 for snacks should work out well for me.  Time to start journalling!  Speaking of calories, I was stunned to see that my one slice of whole grain flax bread has 30 more calories than my kids' SMART bread, with little difference in fibre.  How unfair is that?  Looks like I'll have to rethink my choice of bread now!

This afternoon I'm off to the hairdresser's for my color and cut.  It's not my favorite thing to do, but I only go once every 4 months or so.  My, how time flies!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my Canadian friends out there.  Good luck sticking to your meal plans!!!

Lightbulb Moment!

Good morning!

I was bagging to my father this morning about my failed weight loss attempts.  He suggested I write down everything I eat for a few days and count how many calories I'm ingesting every day.  Here I thought I was eating all the right things in all the right quantities - turns out I've been eating 1671 calories BEFORE supper (which is my biggest meal).  Lightbulb moment!  Why didn't I ever check on that before?  Now I have to figure out what I can cut out of my daily intake.  Oh, joy.... :-(

This morning I began my 12-week A-List workout - I put my T-Tapp DVD aside for now, although I'll likely do it once per week.  I did 15 minutes of flexibility exercises, followed by a 75-minute walk (with several jogs thrown in).  What a wonderful way to start off the day!

Guess what?  I bowled a 202 last night.  I can't believe I've bowled over 200 two weeks in a row (that's a total of 3 times since I started bowling roughly 5 years ago).  I'll tell you - my ball was ON FIRE!

Have a beautiful, healthful day, everyone!

Rough Walk

Good morning!

Indeed, it was a rough walk this morning.  Twenty minutes into it, I had to go to the bathroom REALLY badly.  I managed to walk an additional 40 minutes before arriving at my Mom's at 5:50 am.  Thankfully she was up preparing for her own walk.  I thought I was going to DIE.  Needless to say, I didn't get much jogging done until after 6:00 am LOL!

I was supposed to do my T-Tapp DVD before my walk this morning, but decided to put it off until tomorrow.  I haven't been getting the expected results from T-Tapp (very disappointed).  Don't get me wrong - it's an excellent workout because it builds core muscles, but I really need to do something that will show up on the scale.  I plan to redo my A-List 12-week weightloss workout sooner than later.  It's pretty intense, so I really have to get myself revved up for it.

I entered my mother, my daughter and myself in our newspaper's Model for a Day contest (Mannequin d'un Jour - Journal de Montréal).  Who knows - maybe one of us will get lucky!

Bowling tonight - I'm looking forward to it as always.  Have a wonderful day everyone!

Time for a Change

Good morning!

Thanks to everyone for your words of encouragement yesterday.  I decided to follow Alisa's advice and switch my routine up a little.  I've been doing the same T-Tapp DVD now since June and quite frankly I'm disappointed in my progress with it so far.  I had plenty of success with my 12-week A-List Workout routines, so I believe I will start that again in November.  Meanwhile, I'll throw in a few 20-minute workouts here and there from Fitness magazine - in addition to my T-Tapp DVD and walks, of course!

Speaking of walks, I did my walk/jog for 100 minutes this morning.  I tried to jog more often, except when going up hills of course.  I ran into my mother again.  Some of you have asked why we don't just walk together.  First off, I leave way earlier than she does.  She also lives 20 minutes away on foot.  We don't walk at the same pace, and we both LOVE to listen to music along the way.

Last night I bit the bullet and cleaned my house.  I'd been putting it off for two weeks, and was starting to worry about the size of the dust bunnies blowing around.  Afraid to be overrun by them (or swallowed whole), I decided to pass the vacuum.  The bathroom was also in desperate need of a good scrubbing - you don't want to know what the toilet looked like!  Heaven forbid my husband get the cleaning done.  He spent the day shopping with his parents for a new golf club.  Now he wants to change the whole set - ONLY $1000, he says.  Obviously he doesn't handle the finances in our house.  He has no clue.  I warned him not to buy anything until I told him we could afford it (which won't be anytime soon)...

Back to work I go - have a great day!

Hovering Above 170

Good morning!

I'm still hovering above the 170-mark.  I'm still frustrated.  I'm still here.  Sigh.  Chin up, Angel, things could be FAR worse!

Pity party is over - today I was back up at 4:30, ready to T-Tapp and tackle the world.  After a 45-minute session, I walked outside for an hour.

I didn't eat well at all this weekend.  Over the last two days I've eaten a bowl of ice cream with whipped cream and chocolate sauce, a handful (or two) of Lindor miniature chocolate balls, and 6 Pillsbury Halloween cookies.  It took every ounce of willpower I had not to eat more.  Of course my mother-in-law insisted I bring the rest of her cookies home with me (she says it's for the kids - yeah, right)!  If there are any left by the end of today, they're going in the garbage.

I spent most of my weekend either sitting in hockey arenas or on my butt in my back yard.  I had planned to clean my house, but just couldn't be bothered.  Getting up early every weekday really takes a toll.  I could barely keep my eyes open to read my book!

The Countdown to Cancun has begun.  I'm aiming for a 5-lb loss by October 20th - that's when we leave.  Time to MOVE IT MOVE IT MOVE IT!

Have a great day!

Frustrated

Good morning!

So I weighed myself this morning.  I looked at the number, threw up my hands and actually thought "Why Bother?"  After eating precisely on plan, not eating after supper except for my green tea, drinking TONS of water, and exercising at least an hour and a half 5 days in a row, AND going to the bathroom TWICE EACH DAY, all I lost was a puny 0.6 lbs.  I know, I know, it's still a loss - blah, blah, blah.  TOM was last week, so I can't blame it on him.  I was SURE I would be well into the 160s this morning.

Breathing...

Venting...

Calming down...

Sigh...  So I almost didn't work out 3 times this morning because I just couldn't get that damn number out of my head.  Thank God I was already dressed in my gym clothes, because my first thought was to hop right back into bed.  I had already prepared my living room for my T-Tapp DVD, so I bit the bullet and started that.  15 minutes into the exercises, I almost turned it off.  Just the thought of having to tell you that I quit forced me to trudge onward.  As I completed the video, I debated over whether or not I would walk outdoors afterwards.  It was raining, so the decision was pretty simple until....  it stopped right as I was finishing my workout.  It would have been so easy to just hop in the shower and call it a day, but my little guardian angel was whispering to me - GET OUT THERE!!!  Okay, okay, so I went.  At first I figured 30 minutes would be plenty, but ended up walking for 50 minutes.  Yay me!

I must say, I thoroughly enjoyed my walk.  I keep having to remind myself that it's not about the number on the scale, but about how I FEEL about myself.  I am strong, I am healthy, I am in control.

I'm going for a facial at 9:30 am.  I can't say I'm looking forward to it, because I detest having my blackheads removed - pure torture!

My mother left for Toronto this morning - she's attending my cousin's wedding in Niagara Falls over the weekend.  I would have loved to go, but I can't.  Oh, well!  Instead I'll be visiting 2 funeral parlors this evening.  The first is our employee who died of cancer, the other is a friend whose 17-year-old son died in a car crash this weekend.  It's going to be a long day!

Did you watch Grey's last night?  That deer storyline was a bit of a stretch, don't you think?  Private Practice wasn't bad - I guess I have to get used to the characters.

Gotta go - have a wonderful weekend, everyone!

Bowling Bonanza - Yowza!!!

Good morning, ladies. I bowled a 210 last night - can you BELIEVE that? I was so psyched, bowling 4 strikes IN A ROW. I only opened the last frame. That gives me high single for the ladies this week. Since I bombed the first 2 strings, my last game score was totally unexpected! I'm writing this with my MacBook, which explains the lousy paragraph spacing. I'm at home waiting for a repairman to fix my dishwasher. This morning I walked 103 minutes - no rain this time - and managed to run into my mother again on a completely different route - still weird! Gotta go, girls. Have a wonderful day! Angel
