No walk today
Good morning!
Well, at least I got half my workout done this morning. One hour of strength training, and I left it at that. I was in no mood to face the elements two days in a row, so I sat my butt down to watch the second half of The Biggest Loser. Loved it - loved it - loved it! I'm not saying anything else about it, so don't worry about any spoilers. Loved it!
Bowling tonight. I'm looking forward to it as usual. www.Thedailyplate.com says I can burn 298 calories per hour. Hmmm... I play for 3 hours, but spend 2.5 exercising my gums (I talk a LOT) - only about half an hour is spent actually throwing my 9-lb ball.

Have a great day, everyone!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...
Good morning!
I was all set to tell you about the great walk I had on dry roads in balmy 41F weather this morning. I was so thrilled not to have to wear my heavy boots over my shoes, that I stepped out with a spring in my step. I even jogged for awhile. That was until, halfway through my walk while on the other side of town that the snow began. Not so bad at first, actually. By the time I got to the bottom of the hill, it was a full-out snowstorm. I'm talking wind-whipped bullet-like snow pelting my face. I was still half an hour away from home! Well, I made it safe and sound. Whew!
I went for a massage and manicure before work. I must have slept crooked Saturday night, because I've had a pinch in my lower back ever since. It's much better now. As for the manicure, that was a necessary evil. I HATE having my nails done. They were WAY overdue, though.
For those of you who asked for the link to Kimby's discovery, it's thedailyplate.com. Not only does it track calories, it also tracks carbs, sodium, fat & protein. I love it! You also enter your daily activities, which increases the number of calories you can consume. Cool huh? Since I eat pretty much the same thing every weekday, I find their meal tool handy - instead of having to enter the same list menu items every day, I just group them under a name. For instance, I created "weekday breakfast". When I enter my food for the day, I just add that group (I can modify items individually if I need to). Thanks again, Kimby!
That's all for today - have a great one!

The Daily Plate
Who knew calorie counting could be so much fun (sort of). Kimby introduced this site and I decided to check it out. Cool! I'm done eating for today (except for the rest of my wine & snacktime green tea, but I've already accounted for those), and have a tally of total calories consumed, sodium, carbs, etc etc. This is AWESOME! Assuming this site really works, I SHOULD be able to lose 2 lbs per week. Hmm... Of course I don't expect to lose consistently - there's always water weight, lactic acid buildup in the muscles, TOM, etc. BUT this site offers a priceless tool to help me stay on track.

Normal for a Day
Good morning!
Well the scale liked me yesterday. 164.4 lbs is what it said. That put me in the "normal" weight range for my height. But alas it was not to last. This morning I was back to 165.4. Oh, well!
I think I slept crooked Saturday night. My lower back was sore all day. It feels like a pulled muscle. Despite the pain I managed to clean out my hot tub for the winter. Now the water is all nice and fresh. In fact, I had a quick soak after my workout this morning.
Nothing exciting to report - we were pretty busy as usual this weekend. Saturday night was a spaghetti supper fundraiser for DD's ringuette league. I only took half a plate and skipped on the bread. Whew! Overall I was pretty good foodwise, except for the few french fries I ate on Saturday, plus a couple of fried potatoes yesterday. I had a piece of chocolate cake at my inlaw's after supper - what a treat! I drank too much wine again, but it doesn't appear to have done any damage. I'm back to my regular, boring eating routine today.

I'm off to read your posts. Have a great day!

Better late than never
Good afternoon!
I lost my internet connection at work here all day, so I'm late in posting. Ugh!!!!
I got a VERY pleasant surprise when I stepped on my scale this morning: 165.6! That's 0.4 lbs BELOW my pre-vacation weight. I only have 0.6 lbs left to go to get into my "normal" weight range. I don't remember the last time I wasn't overweight. Joy oh joy!
I got my strength training done this morning, followed by a brisk 30-minute walk outside. Yay me! I always feel so much better when I work out in the morning. Yesterday I didn't do a damn thing and felt a little guilty about it. Oh, well! Sometimes you just have to say "fuck it" and go back to bed. Thankfully it didn't make a bit of difference on the scale. Whew!
Thanks to every single one of you who commented on my photo yesterday. I know EXACTLY how it feels to be obese, although I must admit I never really FELT as large as I LOOKED. As the pounds continue to melt away, my mirror is finally starting to reflect the person that's been trapped inside for so long.
There I go, rambling on again.... Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

I've Come a Long Way, Baby!
I decided to start a scrapbooking project and found this old picture of me from 1998. I had just given birth to my first daughter. Hard to believe, that was over 100 lbs ago, give or take. Yikes!

Carb Overload
Good morning!
I went into carb overload yesterday - not good. I had planned to have the usual veggie soup for lunch, but my mother called to invite me to lunch. I ended up scoffing down tomato-rice soup with a whole grain bagel (huge) with cream cheese. As an afternoon snack, I caved in to a Kit-Kat bar. For supper I had nothing planned and was feeling extremely lazy, so I made chicken noodle soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. My only saving grace yesterday was the 4 litres of water I drank.
This morning I opted to sleep in rather than walk in the pouring rain. I have to work later than usual tonight, so I figured the extra rest would do me good. I'm happy to report I'm feeling much better this morning.
Bowling was fun last night, although I didn't play very well (121-147-89).
I hate homework. Helping the girls with their schooling is driving me insane. You should see some of the math stuff my youngest brings home - none of us can figure it out. She's in Grade 2 (7 years old), working on diagrams, pictograms, and various charts/graphs. My oldest is in Grade 4 and hasn't touched on any of that stuff yet. WTF??? To top things off, everything is in French. I grew up in English schools, so some of the French terms are unfamiliar. Math was always my strongest subject, so the experience is getting extremely frustrating (especially when my youngest is having trouble subtracting 3 from 4). Breathe....
Not much else going on today. It's cold, dark and rainy today. At least Grey's is on tonight (woot woot!!!). Have a great one, everyone!

Not in the Mood to Post
Good morning!
Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. I just wasn't in the mood to post, nor to comment. I've kept up with everyone's blog on Google Reader, though.
I've been pretty much on plan, with a 0.2 lb loss to show for my efforts. I'm hoping to get down to my pre-vacation weight of 166 by Saturday. We'll see... I had to get to work earlier than usual this morning, so I only did my strength training. I would have had time for a shorter walk, but I awoke with a nasty urinary tract infection. Thank goodness I had a supply of Cipro on hand for just such an emergency. I shouldn't complain, though. I used to get these nasty infections every few months or so. This is my first one since December of last year. Crossing fingers - hopefully I won't get another one before the end of next year.
I really need more sleep, but doubt I'll be getting any extra hours of it before the weekend. Tonight I'm bowling, so won't get to bed before 11:00 pm. I have to get my walk done tomorrow morning, so I won't be sleeping in. I also have to close the office again tomorrow night, so I'll be exhausted by the time I drag myself home. Anyhoo...
I booked my 3-night Disney cruise for October of next year. I figured I'd take advantage of our strong Canadian dollar to pay my deposit. Now I get to plan where we'll be staying the other 11 nights. I'm so excited!!!!
That's my life in a nutshell. Take care! Happy losing!

Hello, 20 Pound Mark!
Good morning!
The sun is shining, it's Friday, and I'M BACK DOWN TO THE 20-LB LOSS MARK. Life is good.
Last night was parent-teacher interviews. Seems the girls are doing better than I thought - whew!
This morning I did my scheduled workout - strength training plus a 1-hour walk/jog. I froze my poor tootsies off, though. Man, was it cold! I hate the thoughts of breaking out my NEOS (boots that fit over my running shoes). How the heck am I supposed to jog in those? Arg!
I got some much appreciated compliments from some of my bus drivers this morning. They've said I've slimmed down quite a bit and look great. I guess since I stay holed up in my office most of the time, they notice that much more. One of them, I haven't seen in over a month. Boy, they really made my day! "I'm Walkin' on Sunshine..."
I can't wait to get home tonight. I have to work late, so assume Hubby will make supper. Friday nights are my favorite - no homework, no routine, no nothing. Just sit back and enjoy an extra glass of red wine - pure bliss! Saturdays are more hectic, as are Sunday evenings, so I've come to really appreciate my Friday evenings. Ahhhhh...
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. I hope you will all take a few moments Sunday to remember our fallen heroes and celebrate our vetrans . Take care, stay safe!

Hilarious video
Desilu posted this the other day. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen. It looks like my cat, Webby, trying to wake my husband. Enjoy!
