Long long time ago, the Montreal's hockey club was named "Les Habitants de Montreal". That is in French obviously. The name was changed along the road for "Les Canadiens de Montreal". So the term "habs" is a short version of the "Habitants".
We are incredibly proud of our hockey team this season. Hopefully we'll take our 25th Stanley Cup this year. Go Habs Go!

I was watching one of the playoff games, can't remember which teams, but the commentators were talking about the next game against the Habs, I had no idea who they were talking about! We live in Phoenix so we are true Coyotes fans and love hockey! Since I have no team to root for in the playoffs, I shall root for yours!
