Sorry it's taken me this long to blog. I just haven't been in the mood. Thanks to all who wrote to check up on me. Welcome back Hot Mom!!!
Let's see... my back is feeling much better since I sprained it at the end of February. I stopped the muscle relaxants today, so will see how that goes.
I purchased the Nintendo DS Weight Loss Coach and am LOVING IT. I must say the pedometer is way too big and is hard to clip on, so I am using another one. There are a few other things I don't like about it, like not being able to modify or delete entries. Also when I work out a lot, it wants me to eat WAY too much. Other than that, it has been a powerful motivational tool for me. I DETEST food journalling, but this little program makes it easy as pie (without all the calories, hahaha).
Guess what? I began the C25K last week. This morning I did Week 2, Day 2. I've been doing between 10000 and 19000 steps every single day for the last month or so. Unfortunately my pants aren't getting any looser and my weight has yet to decline, but I feel FABULOUS!
Friday we're heading down to Lake George, NY for our first camping trip of the year with the kids and another family. We're staying at Yogi's Paradise Pines for their Halloween weekend. The kids are beside themselves with excitement.
That's all for now, dear friends. I don't expect to blog much until September, but will try to drop by now and then. Have a fabulous summer, everyone!
Today I am celebrating the birth of my eldest daughter who turned 10 today. Ten years ago today I was laying in a bed at the hospital, waiting for my first precious miracle. How time flies!
Needless to say the weekend was filled with birthday celebrations. Sleepovers, playdates, friends' birthday parties, plus hubby's curling banquet. Yikes - what an exhausting weekend! Yesterday I helped monitor a birthday pool party, so got in an hour of arm toning in the water. Unfortunately it did a number on my back, so was quite sore afterward (much better today).
Today I'll hop back on the bike and treadmill. I find it so FRUSTRATING to walk at a max speed of 2.8 mph when I'm more accustomed to 4.0. Slowly but surely I'll get there without worsening my muscle tear, or whatever it is that's causing so much pain. I'm itching to start the C25K program. Patience...
Not much else going on here today. The Habs (our beloved hockey team) is facing elimination tonight against the Boston Bruins, so we're all pretty wired. My youngest starts her friendly ringette league tonight, so I'll have to catch the rest of the game when I get home.
Have a wonderful day, everyone! I'll get around to commenting soon (I hope)...
Well I bit the bullet and climbed onto the scale. At 166.8 lbs, I only gained 3 since the beginning of February. Considering the back injury and my complete lack of regard for my nutritional needs, I'd say it's a miracle I didn't gain more. I try not to think of the fact that I have lost most of the muscle mass I had built, so I am sure I gained more than 3 lbs of fat.
Nevertheless, I am solidly back into my good habits and will continue along this journey toward a healthier, stronger Angel. So there.
I managed to do 10 minutes on the treadmill yesterday, albeit on a max speed of 2.5 mph. I also did a beginner strength training routine for my arms, found in one of my Fitness magazines. Following that, I did my back-reinforcing stretches.
The weather was absolutely PERFECT here yesterday, and it should remain so throughout the weekend. I can't wait to get out there to walk in the fresh air. I think I'll give it a go tomorrow morning.
Long long time ago, the Montreal's hockey club was named "Les Habitants de Montreal". That is in French obviously. The name was changed along the road for "Les Canadiens de Montreal". So the term "habs" is a short version of the "Habitants".
We are incredibly proud of our hockey team this season. Hopefully we'll take our 25th Stanley Cup this year. Go Habs Go!
Slowly but surely I am getting back into the game. My mini-gym is all set up and I just perused the instruction manuals to be sure I know what I'm doing. Next step is to go through my Fitness mags for a good upper-body workout plan (max 15 minutes). I have tons to choose from.
On the weight front, I faced the scale last night and was pleasantly surprised to find that I haven't gained all that much this last month. It read 173, fully clothed, right after a large stir-fry supper. I was too lazy (or maybe scared) to weigh myself this morning to assess the real damage. Maybe next week...
I am SO excited - my BFFs, my mom, and I are going on a 7-night cruise in January. Hubby isn't thrilled about being left behind with the kids, but he'll just have to get over it. We're sailing out of Charlston, SC, aboard the Norweigan Majesty to the Bahamas. I am beside myself with excitement. I have NEVER been on vacation with just the girls. How's that for weightloss motivation?
I went to the clinic yesterday to obtain some Celebrex and more muscle relaxants. Hopefully it will be the last time I consult for this damn back problem. I want to start the C25K program by the beginning of May.
Were you pleasantly surprised by the outcome of TBL last night? I was THRILLED!!!!
Thanks so much to all of you for checking up on me. Things are finally looking up. The back pain has subsided somewhat and I'm feeling better every day.
I just got back from Club Piscine Super Fitness where I purchased a Bremshey Cardio Control vertical exercise bike and a Tunturi T30 treadmill. They will be delivered to my office this very afternoon! You heard right - I modified my office to allow for a mini-gym RIGHT HERE! I will be bringing all of my exercise stuff from home (weights, ball, bands, etc), and will slowly get back into fitness throughout the day in my spare time. Yay! Of course I have to start off really slow, but I am PSYCHED!
After reading so many posts regarding Body For Life, I decided to download the audiobook, which I got free with the purchase of a new GPS for work. I look forward to listening to it.
My DD turned 8 years old Saturday, so it was a pretty busy weekend. Next weekend my eldest is turning 10. Where in the world does the time go???
Hubby returned from NC Friday night. He got some great shots of Tiger Woods at Augusta. Thank goodness I finally have my cook back. The various pastas I've been throwing together every evening is really taking a toll on my hips.
I have yet to step on the scale. It's been over a month, if not two, since I last peeked. I know I don't weigh anything close to the number posted here on my graph, but I will not despair! Today is a new day and spring had sprung!
Sorry I haven't been up to commenting a whole lot. I don't know when I'm going to get back into the daily groove, but I have been reading every single one of your posts. You know how much I love you all and count on your support.
TBL finale tomorrow night - I am beside myself with excitement. If hubby is home he'll have to fight me for the television, as the Habs are due to give the Bruins an ass-kicking (hopefully). Sorry, Andrea!
I just got back from my brutal "massage". Hopefully it'll help with the pain - for now my back is recovering from being poked, prodded, and pushed on. I have no medication left, so hopefully my Robax Platinum will do the job. Otherwise I'll have to sit in a clinic for hours on end waiting to see a doctor.
We have a pretty busy weekend planned. My DDs are staying over at my mother's house, so I'm off to bingo with my BFFs (our hubbies are playing poker). Tomorrow the girls are participating in the Kurling for Kids program at the Legion. They'll be curling from 9-11 am. In the evening we have a sitter, so will be attending the Kurling for Kids banquet. The program raises money for the Montreal Children's Hospital and Hôpital Ste-Justine.
Sunday my baby has her last ringette game of the season. I have registered her for a friendly ringette league which will meet every Monday evening April through June. She ADORES this sport!
Hi. Me again. I just returned from my one-hour physio session. Since the pain in my back, butt and leg are taking so long to heal, my therapist is of the opinion that I have a lumbar hernia. He says a sprain would have been much better by now. I am going to see a massotherapist tomorrow morning, who is known as a great healer. I went to him before physio, but he couldn't do much at the time because my back was too irritated and swollen. He thinks it could also just be a slipped disc, which he could treat in two visits. Hopefully it won't hurt to try. We'll see...
Not much to report today. I have a physio appointment at 9:30, so will be leaving shortly. For those of you who didn't read my last few posts, I suffered a lumbar sprain worsened by sciatica at the end of February. I can barely stand up straight and walk, much less exercise. I can't wait for the pain in my back, butt, thigh and knee to subside so I can get back into my old routine. I'VE HAD ENOUGH!!!
Anyway, the damage is done and I have to deal with it. That's life!
I believe I'm getting back into the swing of things, as far as blogging goes anyway. Foodwise I am no longer tempted by the chocolate bunnies and eggs safely tucked away in the cupboard. Can you believe my husband actually brought home 2 HUGE bags of lilliput eggs? I put one in the freezer for now and used the rest for the girls' Easter egg hunt. I don't know what possessed him to buy so much. I swear, it's worse than Halloween!
Nothing new apart from that. Since I can only do a few stretches, I have no exercise to report.
Did you enjoy TBL last night? I was extremely pleased with the weigh-ins and subsequent elimination. Don't worry - I won't spoil your fun. That's all I will say on the subject.
