You know sometimes when everything is going your way, you're feeling great, life is good - there is just a deep sense of satisfaction in your soul? That's how I'm feeling today. No...it doesn't really have anything to do with the fact that the scale moved down nicely this morning - but I am happy that it did! It could also be the fact that I'm wearing my size 10 pants (stretchy) I picked up a few weeks ago at Filenes.
Last night I had an awesome workout. I did 30 minutes of HIIT on the crosstrainer, then decided to work on my running. I jogged 1/2 mile without stopping, walked for a tenth of a mile, and then finished the mile jogging without stopping. I completed a mile in 13:38. I'm hoping that's a pretty good time for someone just starting to run!
I only worked out for an hour with stretching and burned 500 calories. I think I may have been working out too much and not eating enough, so I'm peeling it back a little. I am loving The Daily Plate!
Jerel brought home my package from Lands End last night. I am happy to report that the tank tops I bought fit perfectly - they are a medium!! I also bought a pair of black cords (12) that I can't button, so I have those to keep me inspired. The bathing suit - eh. Not in love with it - but it definitely looks better than the ones from VS. Of course, it might look better if I actually had a tan!
I finally finished up my Nike order after deleting a few hundred $$ from my cart. I still spent too much - luckily they have free returns. I had to get a couple of things in different sizes since I'm not really sure how the tops will fit. I'm still very against having my tummy poke out of my shirts!
One of my friends from the Jenny board has started blogging here at EP - please go say hi to Kelly.
That's right...9.5 working days until I get a vacation!! Yes, I know it seems like yesterday I was off to Italy, but I love to get away - especially from work. I could whine more, but I won't because I'm feeling upbeat and confident today.
We didn't end up with very much snow here in the city - maybe an inch. Enough to make it sloppy and slushy on the way to work. It is very cold though and the wind chills are supposed to be brutal today and tomorrow. I need to get one of those ski masks that cover most of the face.
Last night I had way too much fun with Nike.com - I have over $700 worth of stuff in my shopping cart right now. I'm really going to need to remove quite a few items. I love workout clothes though, and if I'm serious about running outside I'm going to need some warm running tights and tops. Plus, I also figure I can use them as my baselayer on my trip to Antarctica. Still - that's way too much money to spend even if I do have a 20% off coupon!
Let's see...the scale was looking good this morning - still trying to get rid of some water weight from our Saturday dinner out, but I'm feeling confident this will be a stellar week. I've just finished 100 oz of water, and plan on spending at least an hour on the crosstrainer tonight.
Please make sure you stop by and congratulate Precious - she met her weight loss goal today!!
Yep...it's on its way. It is C O L D outside. I layered up this morning and went out with the boys for a wog instead of going to the gym. I think I impressed Jerel with my jogging! I don't think he's ever seen me run before - considering I remember an incident from long ago when we were at the Harvard T station & the train was arriving. I specifically remember stating "I don't run for the train". Hehehe...now I actually run on the streets of Boston! Tigger of course was just happy to be outside.
Thanks for all your encouraging words about yesterday's weigh-in. I'm feeling that this week will be awesome. How great would it be if I could get into the 180's before we leave for San Juan?
Not much else going on around here today. Jerel has a big final paper and presentation due on Thursday night so he's been busy working on it, and I've been doing some laundry. For some reason I have an overwhelming desire to bake cookies. Luckily, we don't have anything in the house for me to bake with! So...I'll catch up on your blogs instead.
Because I like to have all the days colored in on my calender that I've posted!!
Check out the weight kids...down a big .2. I know, I know...try to contain your excitement, will ya? Seriously...I was so excited this morning. Yesterday I drank 160 oz of water (yes I did Endurer), burned 550 calories at the gym, ate a lot of roasted cauliflower last night (causing much productivity this morning) and when I stepped on ye olde scale...195.8. Oh well - it is what it is. Perhaps I built an extra pound or two of muscle this week! Wouldn't it be great if weight loss was an exact science?
Not much else going on with me today other than trying to stay warm. Um - it's tres cold here in Beantown...I mean 22 degrees with wind chills near 9 degrees. Bone chilling cold. I was quite toasty in my Patagonia windproof jacket though. Too bad I don't have windproof pants!
Had a great workout this morning...about an hour or so of strength training and 45 minutes on the crosstrainer. I went to Niketown to see if they had anything worth buying since I'm the proud owner of a 20% off coupon but I just wasn't in the mood I guess. Maybe I'll just shop at Nike.com.
Hope you're all having a great day!! Keep on keeping on!!
Heck yeah...one of my most favorite days of the week!!
I am super sore from yesterday's workout and definitely retaining water. Come on 195 - where are you?? I have my workout clothes with me but I'm not sure if I'll make it or not, especially since this is my boss' first day in the office since last Tuesday. Not to worry - if I don't get there today I will definitely go tomorrow to do my new strength training routine.
Oh, I sent Tara the first part of my entry for yesterday, and this is what she said:
"What makes a good client great...someone who complains the whole time but secretly LOVES getting an ass whoopin'!"
Too funny! Must be the masochist in me!
Hope you are all doing well...and have a wonderful weekend!! Welcome December!!
A great trainer listens to their client as they moan about their problem areas, and then designs a new program to help get that area into shape…and in the process kicks their clients’ ass!!
Oh dear me…I guess I asked for it!I had been whining about my back fat looking horrible in the VS bathing suit tops (plus I feel like in general my back is really broad), so Tara has given me some new (and super hard) strength training moves.
We started with the Gravitron, as usual.I’m still working up to 3 sets of 10 at 130 lbs – it’s my goal to get there by the end of the year. Then we proceeded to do “Perfect Pushups” using pushup bars.OMG…I could not believe how hard they were and how much all my shoulders and upper back muscles were engaged.I also did tricep pushups using the bars.
After that I did abs, followed by walking side lunges into squats, and then more squats into shoulder press. The final killer shoulder/back move was the standing rear delt fly.I can’t even describe it!Then biceps and more triceps.I don’t know if I’m going to be able to lift my arms tomorrow.Just to round things out I finished with working the inner thighs on the adductor machine followed by back extensions on the Roman chair.
Yeah…I’m exhausted and I feel like I’ve been run over by a truck…but I’m going to look good.(Eventually)!
Tara said her goal for me is to do the entire program (without whining - I mean stopping) by the beginning of January.I only have 2 more workouts with her before I leave for vacation, and she will be in S. Africa the last week of December.
Anyway, I also worked out last night – I did 45 minutes on the crosstrainer with intervals, and I did 30 minutes today – 20 minutes to warmup before I saw Tara and then 10 more minutes, because I’m a little AR when it comes to tracking my workout time.I like even 15 minute segments!
If you have time, please stop by and visit my friend txlass. She needs some motivation to get back into weight loss and exercise mode.
Here is a great calendar to help us through the holiday season!! I've printed it out and hung it in my cubicle - definitely some great ideas to keep us on track!!
Thanks for your well wishes to yesterday's entry!! The ole sinuses are still giving me a hard time, but I'm hanging in there.
Yesterday I left work around 3:30 and headed to the gym, where I worked out on the crosstrainer for an hour. I didn't get to my strength training, but I figured since Tara is introducing a new program tomorrow I could use an extra day of rest. I'm planning on some more cardio tonight. I would like to get on the opposite side of 195 this week!
We watched the Biggest Loser last night - I can't believe there are only 2 weeks left before the finale. Of course, we will be cruising the Caribbean so I won't be able to watch it until we get back on the 23rd. Anyway, should be interesting to see who ends up in the final four. I predict Neil, Bill, Isabeau and Nicole. We'll see what happens.
Not much else going on. I need to find a dress or something festive to wear to Jerel's office holiday party, which is 2 weeks from tonight. Not sure if I want to get a dress or a nice top to wear with black dress pants. I'll have to see what's out there.
My sinuses are killing and the Advil Cold and Sinus just doesn’t seem to be working as well as it normally does.I’m tired too.I woke up around 4:00 to use the bathroom, and when I went back to bed Tigger had curled up next to my pillow (as usual).I scooted him over to the middle of the bed, but he ended up turning around so his feet were pushing into my back.Such joy!I finally went back to sleep around 5:00, and the alarm went off at 5:30, but I didn’t get up until a little before 6:00. So my chi is off this morning. It’s definitely one of those days I would have loved to just stay at home.Hopefully I can leave early today for the gym and in turn get home early.
Thanks for your comments on my coat photos.I can’t believe there was a time I could hardly get the one in the first photo zipped up!!
Here are a couple of pictures we took this morning of me in my coats that are WAY too big now. This is a coat I bought in 1994 and wore during many a snowstorm in the last 13 years.
This is a picture of me from last August in a coat I bought for my Alaska cruise:
And here it is today:
Jerel said the charity we donated the coats to - Rosie's Place - was very happy to receive them!
