Before After

Off to Ohio

Just a quick post to check-in and let you all know I'm heading to Ohio tomorrow after work for a long weekend.  Not sure if you know this or not...but I haven't been home to see my mom in...4 years.

It was August, 2004 the last time I visited.  I went home once a month from January - August in '04, and I was pretty burnt out.  Then, I got laid off that November, and when I got my new job I only had 10 vacation days the first year and most of them were used up from our trip to St. Barths.  Of course, I also didn't want to go home because I had gained so much weight, and didn't want my mom to see me.  Don't misunderstand - my mom has never had anything bad to say about my being overweight, but you know how moms can be!  Anyway, I'm pretty sure she won't recognize me!!

Work has been completely insane, and I'm glad I'm going to have a couple of days away from the office.  Hopefully I'll be able to get in a few runs too - Cambridge City Park awaits.

I will try to check in since I'm taking my laptop - need to keep up with the work emails and requests.

Take care everyone!

hey there

Enjoy your trip home.  Is it cold in Boston?   It's super cold here in Ohio.

I was in Cambridge last week.  I always stop at that Super Wal Mart to get food before heading into the hills down home.     It's the nicest one around.

Has your mom seen pictures of you since your loss?  How fun is that going to be to see her face.  Enjoy that moment as you surly have worked hard for it.  You look so awesome!!

Have fun back home.

hey andrea

I hope you have a great time visiting with your mom.  I can't believe how long it has been.  Over a year ago, I was upset 'cause I'd gained a bunch of weight since the last time I'd seen my parents, so I know EXACTLY how you felt.  Luckily you're on the other side of that battle now though!  I saw your post though and wanted to tell you your words to me at the time really helped.  Here they are:

Great to hear from you - hope you have a wonderful trip with your parents.  I know it will be hard to see them because you've gained a few pounds, but try not to focus on that - just enjoy spending this time with them.  That's all that matters.

Enjoy your trip home!

I hope you have a great trip home!  You look great and your mom is going to be so proud of what you've done!    Have  a wonderful time with your mom!

Better keep a doctor handy...

... your mother just might have a heart attack when she sees you!

Trip

Have a great trip and enjoy the time with your mom.  I'm sure she's going to be gushing over how amazing you look!  Beyond that, think of all you've accomplished with your running.  TRUE HERO!

hi

How was your trip back home? From the pics I saw, it looked like you had a really great time! So glad.

Anyway, haven't talked to you in forever, so I just wanted to stop by and say hi and let you know I was thinking about you. Take care, ok?

four years?

Girl, four years is a long time. You must miss her. I'm glad you can go home in a state that makes you feel very much accepted.

I'm glad you had a good trip to Tulsa.  And also, good job on the gobble jog! YAY

4 years?

Wow... I can't even imagine.  I live in the same town with my mother.  We work at the same place, even in the same building.  I see her just about every single day.  It's especially been nice since my dad died just over a year ago.  I can't imagine living far away from her, but I know a lot of people can't help it.

I'm coming to Boston in March.  I've never been and I am super excited!  If there are places that I must see or restaurants that I need to visit, please share.  I want to get a good feel for Boston while I am there.

And by the way... you look AMAZING!

HI

Hey Andrea! I just wanted to say hello and wish you a very happy holiday season! Happy Winter! :) Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!

Love,

Shelley
