One Week To Go!!
One week from right now I will be running the Nike Marathon in San Francisco. I am getting NERVOUS!! I'm mostly concerned that I won't get to mile 18 3/4 by noon, and will be directed to head to the finish line. Yes - I did find out the inside information - everyone gets to finish, which means no matter what I will get that Tiffany's necklace - I just don't want to finish with an asterisk. *Finished, but didn't really complete 26.2. That would suck. So...I am going to ask my chiro for a doctor's note so I can do the early start at 5:30 am if I decide I need more time. My knee has been okay, but I had some twinges when I did my 8 miles yesterday. My left knee has been hurting a little too because I think I've been overcompensating. I probably need to get a brace for that one too!
Tomorrow I'm running in the Tufts 10K with some friends from TNT. It's supposed to be a beautiful day. Then I have 3 more days of hell at the office before heading to San Francisco. ShelleyS and I are planning on getting together for dinner one night while I'm in the Bay Area. I can't wait to see her again!
I have also registered for the Tulsa World Route 66 half marathon on Nov. 16th - the flight price went down by $75 so I decided to book it. That means I get to meet Bridget1961!
I also booked what I like to call a "pilgrimmage" to Ohio in December to visit my mom. I actually haven't seen her in a little over 4 years. Back in 2004 I went home about 8 times - a lot of drama was happening - she sold the house and needed help moving, one of my sister's got into legal trouble, etc. so I was back and forth quite a bit. Then I started at my current job, and just didn't have the time or the energy to go for a visit, plus I was so overweight I didn't want my mom to see me. Anyway, I figured with all the recent losses we've had, I need to go home and see my mom.
I think I've caught you all up on what's been going on! Hope you've all had a great weekend!!

hey andrea!
Andrea, look how far you've already come! I have full faith that you will be able to run and complete that marathon come next weekend. I remember when you had just started the training and were thinking, "How am I going to do this!?" and you have done it -- the training, I mean. I wouldn't think there would be anything wrong with doing the early start either.
Oh, and about visiting your mom, I agree that it is about time. Lately I've been thinking about how my mom isn't getting any younger and I wish I got to see her (well, both of my parents, really) more often. I remember last year around this time I was also nervous because I was going home after having gained a lot of weight and even though I knew that my parents wouldn't "care" (other than for my health), I still was kinda dreading having them see me and my weight gain. I think at the time you left me a comment saying that they would love to see me no matter how I looked, and that really meant a lot to me.
PS: oh, I also like your previous post about Jerel. I should fill that out too!

Hey there
It's normal to do a little bit of self-doubting (and maybe even questioning your sanity) before you hit the road to run 26.2 miles. But you've trained. You've spent hours and hours running, bodygliding it up, gatorading and fueling properly, running in optimal and not-so-optimal weather, figuring out what pre-race rituals and fuels work for you. There's nothing that's going to stop you now, you are so ready! You can and WILL do this. It's yours. You own it! Run it!!!!!!!!!!!
GO ANDREA! I will be cheering from afar in Chicago!

WOOHOO!
This time next week you will be DONE with your 26.2!
I'm with the others...you've trained properly and done all the right things to prepare for this goal, so I too, have faith you will finish this! And if your knee is bothering you, and you can get a medical "pass" to start early, go for it!
Will be rooting for you this weekend from TN, while I do my "trial" 13.1 for the first time! Look forward to meeting you in Tulsa!

You can do it!
Andrea, I went into the Hartford Marathon last weekend with my knee hurting, and it went away when I ran. I hope it works out the same for you! Can't wait to hear how it goes... rest up and carbo load!

I'm so excited!!!
OMG...you leave tomorrow! Hey....my flight leaves at 2:15 pm....but I'll be at Oakland. Nevermind. I was wondering what the chances were that we'd be in the same airport at the same time! I'll just have to wait until Thursday to see you. Its gonna be fun!
I just admire your dedication, Andrea! Wow! You get out there every day and get your milage in! I can barely run 2 miles without dying!
Good for you for going home to see your mom! It will be good to see your family again! Did you get a hotel reservation yet? ;)
