You know those menstrual charts where the graph starts out toward the bottom (emotionally low) and slowly peaks toward ovulation (emotionally high)? I’m at the bottom of the chart! TOM arrived on Saturday afternoon (a couple of days early) and I have been feeling blah ever since. Yesterday was pretty bad with cramps but at least it didn’t hit me at work like it did last month.
I did get my 15 miler in on Saturday morning. It wasn’t too bad. I didn’t run with the group so I was able to get started around 7:00 am. It was a great day for a run, and the first 10 miles or so was really nice. I even ran past the Northeastern University boathouse – I had always wondered what it would be like to be out that far on Storrow Drive!
I was tired the last few miles – probably because my hormones were crashing!
The only bad thing about TOM starting early - Saturday was exactly 4 weeks from 9/20 – the day before the Maine Coast Half, and exactly 8 weeks from 10/18 – the day before the Nike marathon. I am hoping it shows up a couple of days earlier the next 2 months or I might be in for a world of pain. I didn’t run yesterday because the cramps were so bad, but I will have to suck it up if it hits right before a race.
Anyway, I need to get out and run tonight or I won’t be getting in all my miles this week. I have a goal of 38 miles and I need to get crackin’! I am happy to say I’ve run 102.59 miles so far this month!
Of course, even though I'm getting in good exercise the scale isn't cooperating, but I'm sure that's water retention. Hopefully it will start to go down in the next few days.
Hope everyone had a great weekend! I will try to be a better blog buddy this week - especially since the boss will be out Wed, Thurs. and Fri!

Hey
I went back and read a few old posts.....and saw you were doing a race in Falmouth....that is where my grandma lived...I've had many visits there....her house is 480 Main Street......I'm not sure what sort of shape it is in now....my half Uncle got everything, then he got cancer too......long story.......
Maybe you'll get lucky and skip a period...since you are exercising so much?
Sorry you're having to deal with the pain...even though I used to have major pain with cramps, as I'm moving into the perimenopause stage, thankfully a lot of the painful cramps have gone away.
Maybe since TOM arrived a couple of days early this time, he will either come early, or delay his arrival until after your races...you can only hope!
Not the Old Timer. It's one of the Smokehouse Bacon Cheeseburger types with a spicy ranch dressing. I'll try to find the email and send it to you. There was a link with more info and I didn't go there.
I think I know exactly what you mean. I ran horriblely Friday and Sunday and those were smack in the middle of TOM for me. Thank god its gone now and hopefully my short run tonight will go well and give me a little confidence. When you do your long runs do you run the entire thing? Take short walks? Long walks? I hit my first run where I needed to walk over the weekend and I felt aweful like I wasnt really accomplishing my run. but then I hear some people say its totally fine to walk a little.
you've been getting your period more frequently lately. Your body must be getting used to the new you!!
Little DD asked me last night "why are you always on her (you) page?" LOL Its so funny how all they see is the background and know who it is. Zed42's daughter always something to say about my background! So cute!
That is amazing about TFL!! I hope you guys enjoy it!
...or at least think about it...the Route 66 Marathon, I mean! It would be fun to meet another EP'er! Of course, you'll be halfway through running your 26.2 miles before I get out of the start with walking my 13.1!
You are not a dork! LOL...I'm kinda quiet and fade into the woodwork anyway, so I'm totally forgettable!
I still haven't tried my roller again...I need to do that Saturday after walking 9 miles!
I do LOVE my Garmin after 1 use...the distance accuracy was what I was looking for so I can roam wherever I want to get my distance in! Going in the same loop gets old! I'll be working on my pace tonight, so anxious to use that feature to challenge myself.
