Before After

Super Saturday!

Thanks everyone for your kind comments and support about last night's post.  It was just SUCH a SHOCK when I found them, innocently living in an abandoned folder on our main desktop.  The ironic part of seeing me in shorts from back then is I went to Marathon Sports yesterday to pick up some GU and sports beans to prepare for today's long run, and I thought while I was there I would try on some shorts.  I tried on a pair of Nike Tempo shorts - they fit fine, but the cut was a little too high on the thigh for me and wasn't very flattering since I still have leg jiggle.  But seriously - my legs look a hella lot better than they did 2 years ago!!

So, I woke up at 3:53 - had the alarm set for 4:00 - got up, made some coffee and had a couple of english muffins with PB.  Jerel got up and drove me over to Cambridge where I was going to meet my run buddy  at 6:00 (I have a run buddy - that's so cool!).  We stretched a bit and then walked a bit to warm up.  We did almost 6 miles by 7:20, then we went to meet the rest of the TNT group.  Her other run buddy was there, so we stuck together for the second half of our run.  By the way - they have both signed up for the Disney Princess Half Marathon  with me- come on, it would be a great place to have an EP get together!!

It was a little difficult to take a 30 minute break - my legs had stiffened up a little and it took some doing to get back into the run zone.  We were doing pretty well, but Kellie has been having some ITBS issues and Julie had given blood yesterday, so they decided to just do about 4 miles of the second loop.  That worked okay for me, because I knew I could get in the rest of my miles by just heading home instead of having Jerel come to get me.

After a few minutes at the water stop I headed back down the Esplanade toward home.  I looped around the Public Garden and then decided to get an iced nonfat latte at Starbucks.  All in all I got in 12.7 miles - and burned 1499 calories!  I was starving by the time I got home.  I'm going to have to add in a little more protein for breakfast, because I was actually pretty hungry after our first loop.

I took an ice bath and am actually feeling pretty great , not too sore at all - in fact, I'm already looking forward to my recovery run tomorrow.  I guess that means that I AM a runner!!

Comments to this post:

Dang!

You burned more calories than I eat somedays.  LOL!

And, yes, you ARE a runner. Isn't that what you guys keep telling me?  And I'm not even as hard core as you!  Now tell me, do you run the entire 12.7 miles?  If so, how???  I'm so at a loss here.  But then again, I think once it starts to cool off, I'll do better.

OMG

1499 calories!!! Shizzle!!!!! God job, Andrea!

Ummmm....

....we all thought you were a runner a long time ago!

Way to go!

Tempting!

Hey Andrea =) I just saw those pictures of you from two years ago and MAN, hard to tell it's the same person.  Part of it might have to do with the hair color too .  I'm glad I've been able to witness a lot of your transformation!  You are most definitely a runner and you are most definitely tempting me with that 1/2 marathon... I'm not in good enough shape to do it right now, but I could get in shape...anyway, I'm definitely going to follow the link and check it out!

Washington?

Have you come to Washington yet?  Which race?  LOL!!

You should come here for Bloomsday!  It's always the first Sunday of May... registration opens probably in Feb/March, but you would want to start looking for places to stay now LOL!!

If not in '09 cuz of your Princess 1/2 Marathon, maybe in '10?  LOL!!   http://www.bloomsday.org/

Which, I would be tempted to go to the Princess 1/2 with the EP crowd, but it's just not in my budget for 3 more years.  I have a sophomore this year.

Have a great week!

Hey!

Just thought I'd say hi to my teammate for Endurer's challenge.  Go YELLOW team!  I hope this is what I need to finally see the scale go down!

I love it!

I have always wanted to do the Disney Minnie but I didn't think I could come up with the $$ for it (last I heard it was like $2000 for the charity).

I wonder if walkers are welcome at the Princess Half. If so, I will definitely take it into consideration!

I just answered my own question

According to their pacing--must do at least a 16 min mile. If I could get my buns in gear and start a running program I could probably do it. I just hate to start running at this weight! Hmmm, definitely something to think about. Thanks for sharing!

Good luck!

.... on Endurer's challenge!!

I think it would be fun if you came for Bloomsday some year.  Hey, RBR is coming to Coeur d'Alene next summer for the Iron Man!!  I need to see if I can be in town and get over there to meet her!

Hi yellow chick!

Looks like we are on the same team for Endurer's challenge. Look forward to getting to know you!

Big hugs!

Wow

Another yellow team member :)

I'm gobsmacked at the change in you - it's a real joy to see.  I shall look at your pictures and use them when I'm struggling as a reminder of what can be achieved.  You are fantastic!
