Before After

Travel Girl is Still Here!

Wow...a week has gone by since my last post.  Thank you all so much for your kind comments on my comparison photos.  Subtle changes, but changes none the less!

Last week was crazy with work, going to the gym, etc. etc.  The good news is the girl who I thought was going to leave - did leave!!  I am going to take over most of her job duties, which is in business development, so I am psyched!  This week will be very busy too, because the group admin will be out Tuesday - Friday so I have to cover for her.

Nothing good to report on the weight loss front.  Today I started JC Planned Week One to see if I can get the scale moving down again.  I think I already figured out the problem though - I've been eating too many fat grams.  The protein bars I've been eating the past few months have 8 grams of fat vs. the JC bars with 3 grams.  I also went down to 1200 calories instead of the 1500 I've been on almost forever.  If this doesn't work, well, I guess I'll have to find another plan.

We went and had our taxes finished yesterday, and afterward visited Jerel's grandmother, and did some shopping at the Natick collection.  I got some workout tops that were on sale at Nordstrom, a couple pairs of dress pants from Talbot and a twinset that was on sale.

Tara is on vacation in Florida this week, so on Wednesday I'm having a training session with Jane, who is actually the Director of Fitness at my gym.  She has a background in running, so she's going to evaluate my running technique.  The Cambridge CityRun is 2 weeks from today, and the Zoo Zoom is in 3 weeks.  I need to get on the ball or I'm really going to embarass myself in front of my friends, and in front of Shelley and RBR - that would NOT be cool.

Anyway, that's a quick summary of my week.  I will try to post more often - I've just been so tired by the time I get home I don't even want to think about logging into the computer.

Hope everyone is doing well - have a fantastic week!

Yay, I'm happy that I'm the first to comment on your post. I've been checking in on you everyday, and I've been wondering how you've been doing. I'm glad to hear that you're doing well! Andrea, I was wondering... did you lose any weight after being back on the JC plan? I think you've been back on it for a week or so right? I agree with you and think you should maybe try something else if it doesn't produce good results this week. The meals might have more sodium than your body needs, so trying a plan with fresh, homemade meals may be better for you.

I know you'll be proud of me Andrea, because I've already lost 6.8lbs on WW and I'm actually sticking to it!

Anyway, I'll talk to you soon. xxxxx

Hey there

Will be back tomorrow to read, right now I am here to wish you a..

Almost a little too late.  "talk" with you soon.   Alicia

Training

I posted about the podcasts I downloaded that "coaches" you through getting ready for a 5k.....today was my first day but I'm feeling pretty pumped.  I definately did better with the guy telling me when to run and when to walk than I had done on my own......plus between house stuff and being sick....I hadn't done much in the way of exercise in awhile......did manage to go hiking twice on the camping trip....so I'm not a complete slacker!

don't be discouraged

hey andrea.  i know that it must be frustrating to not see the scale move with all your hard effort.  remember that your last post proves that a smaller body is better proof than a number on a scale.  you are getting healthier and that is what is most important.

good luck with the 1200 jc plan!  i think you might find yourself hungry at times (as I did when I was on it), but hey -- i think you're right to try to switch some things up.  if you get hungry, don't forget all the free foods you can eat.

:)

I've missed you bunches girl!! I hope going back to week 1 on JC is jus the jumpstart that your body needs.

Hey!

It sounds like you've got a good plan to try to get the scale moving downward again.   I'm confident that those subtle changes in your eating plan will do the trick for you.   Good luck & keep us posted!!

Oh, yes.. and I seriously doubt that you'd embarrass yourself in front of Stacey & Shelley.  You're kickin' serious bootay on the running front!!

Not likely!

I'm just as nervous about it as you are! I can't remember the last time I ran more than 4 miles at a time. I logged 8.5 miles last week. Not the 18 I intended to! Oh, well, look, if we have to walk, we walk! No big deal. Besides, its easier to talk if we're walking!

Stay away from those protein bars and enjoy your new duties at work!

Exercise and weight loss

It may seem counter intuitive-- but exercising alot doesn't translate into weight loss-- especially when you have an inherent weight issue.

I ran the marathon in 1997 at 157 pounds, and I didn't lose an ounce during training all those miles-- nor did I lose weight the next year when I did a triathlon.

Here is my best advise, to someone whom I've found to be an inspiration:
Focus on what you want here at this point-- do you want to lose weight or do you want to have a super-mega body?

I think that both take a lot of time an effort... the super-mega training literally makes your body demand more food-- counterintuitive to weight loss.

I'll stop now, and I'll take this to my blog, b/c it has interested me for a while... I don't mean to rain on your work out parade you are doing awesome, just figure out whether your workouts are stalling your weight loss in the end...

OMG!

I'm speechless!!!
