Before After

some family fun

So, last night we had a family night.  When dh got home we went to the park (the weather is gorgeous) and played "baseball" with a tennis racket and squisy ball.  The kids didn't really get the concept- well ds did.  DD-4 said that she didn't want to play and couldn'e we just watch the boys and say "yea team?" She is so not a tomboy.  But she did join in after a while.  When they lost interest we pushed them on the swings for awhile and then went to McDonald's for dinner.  The kids had gift cards from Christmas and wanted happy meals.  They were out of salads!! Can you believe that? So I had a kids size hamburger, diet coke and ice cream cone.  Ice cream cones are 3 points according to my book.  I did knock off about the top half though just incase.  It was so much fun.  To just be us.  I mostly did it cuz dh needs to fit excercise in somewhere and if I disguise it as fun he is more likely to do it.  The kids loved it, and I decided that we need to do more as a family.  maybe we'll go see that veggie tales movie this weekend.

So my excercise has not been anything inspiring lately.  I swear the eliptical at the gym must be a different one than I got for Christmas, b/c I can only do 5 minutes on mine before I want to die!!  This week I am going for 6, but when I get off I have to lie down, and my legs feel like jelly.  I know- so pathetic! But I figure that if I keep at it, I will eventually be able to do it for 30 minutes straight.  Go me!

GREAT JOB!

I agree that the best way to exercise is doing something you enjoy - you are more likely to stick at it!

Great that you can have some "family time" while you are exercising - I think you have found something that will motivate you into exercising! Well done!

Sending you lots of Irish luck,

JOY

Eliptical thingy ...

or is it also known as a cross trainer ?  When I first started at the gym my trainer said I should do 2 minutes warm up on the Eliptical.

Blimey, those two minutes were more like 20 !!!  It killed me !!  But, it certainly did the trick, my heart rate hit the roof !!

Now I manage 3-5 minutes, but  do find it hard.  You are right though, the more we do it, the easier it 'should' get !

That was a lovely idea going out together, some things don't cost the earth but mean so much more.  When my kids were young I would have been happy to do things like that with their dad but he was always 'too busy'.  You should never be 'too busy' whilst the kids are young, it goes far too quickly

I mentioned you guys to someone at my class tonight.  As I mentioned in another post, we have a couple that go to our class.  The guy put 13.5 pounds on over christmas & New Year, he was on holiday in Florida to be fair.  So far he has lost 7.5 of it, and I told him about your hubby and how he doesn't want the other guy to beat him !!  He completely understood !!

I am so pleased to see you are still focused.  You get to that goal this time and stay there, once we reach goal we can go to classes free of charge so it's definitely worth it (I guess they do the same out there too ??)

OK, time to go and have my pizza and roasted veg = 9 points

It's great having something in common with someone so far away, but it ain't so great to hear the weather is lovely where you are !!

Take care

Jxx
