Well, for me anyway. Thank goodness for random long weekends. I'm planning on spending my Friday doing a full room cleanout, because it's starting to resemble a bomb shelter in here. Things thrown everywhere, piles all over the place.. I really need to start cleaning and also start storing things away that I'm not going to need again.
Tonight I did Walk Away the Pounds 45 minute 3mile workout TWICE again! I know, I'm crazy. 90 minutes of it and I feel it, I'm enjoying the difference by doing upper arm stuff as well. Those resistance band thingies really seem to work. (If only there was a miracle band for my spare tyre.)
*yawns* I am going to a concert tomorrow night (Seeing Snow Patrol, love them!) so I have to stay away from the munchies and drinks, and try and make sure to be smarter. But you know what? I'll make sure I leave myself a bit of leeway in case I do feel the need to splurge. I've been great all week. :)
I shouldn't really be complaining about today, BECAUSE we get Friday off here in Sydney due to the horrible Apec summitt meetings. I won't go into how annoying it is that everything is being completely shut down for stupid politicians, because you know what? I get a long weekend! For that I am thankful!
Since I'm trying to spice up my exercising a bit, I'm really enjoying this Walk Away the Pounds kit. I don't know that it's suited towards young people exercising, but it fits my lifestyle and I just adapt it to make it more suitable for me. Today I did the 3mile (45 min) tape, using the resistance waistband as well. It didn't bother me too much, but WOW. I could really feel my arms burning. I decided to do the tape a second time, and I got through it - though I definitely felt it at the end!
That brought my total exercising time to 90 mins, and covered 6miles. 6miles = 9.5km roughly, which aint bad for walking on the spot. Add in the resistance training, and it's a pretty decent workout!
I was bored today, and didn't feel like walking -- on the treadmill, anyway. Mum decided she wanted to exercise too, so we did the 1mile Walk Away the Pounds programme together (20 mins). She quit after that, but I decided to trial out the next one too, so I did the 2mile WATP DVD as well (35 mins). Well, I may not have been tired after the one mile, but I was stuffed after three. There is apparently a 3mile one as well, but maybe I'll try that some other day. A nice change of pace, but hey - 3miles, I'll take it! :)
(I also used hand weights while I walked like they use in the DVD, and boy did my arms feel the burn!)
Nothing much else to report, except that I have to try to eat a little more protein during the day .. all thanks to my friend Sparkly's suggestion. Hopefully it'll mean a change in weight over the next few weeks if I tweak my eating a little.
After yesterday's weighin, it was so tempting to celebrate with food.. because that's just what I would normally do. But since I spurged on Red Rooster on Thursday night, I figured I'd better be good. I had an average old day instead. :)
Today I walked for 30 minutes to give my (still) aching shin bones a bit of a rest - I really wish they would stop bothering me. It might be time to do some TurboJamming instead of walking/running until they heal up again, because I'd hate to damage them more by pushing on through it. It's so hard to know if I'm doing the right/wrong thing.
I'm still logging my calories on CalorieKing.com.au. It's keeping me in control most days, and I think I'm going to stick with it. And I've found by using diet cordial, I'm drinking at least six glasses of water a day, which is a big improvement.
It's incredible how tempting grocery stores are when it comes to food. We did a massive shop today and honestly, the aisles are just crammed full of absolute crap. I don't know about yours, but the aisle with lollies in it? It just goes on and on and on. I got some more staples for the week - fruit, low fat yoghurt, lite popcorn and some saos/crackers to snack on, as well as some bega stringers, my favourite 60cal snack to munch! Yum! Hopefully this will last us for another few weeks.. food is so expensive! :(
Well, the verdict is in.. I now weigh exactly 82kg. (180.4lbs)
It is a loss of around 2kg over the past month, which works out at around 500g a week. Not fantastic, but seems to be "normal" in all the healthy loss guidelines. I'll take it! That's 2kg closer to my next mini goal of 80kg.
It's strange. For me, the first 5-8kg came off so fast, with minimal exercise and just healthier habits. But I feel like I've been mid-80's for the LONGEST time. And it's not like I'm super close to my goal or anything ... I have another 12kg to lose. I guess I'll just have to work harder.
Go me, I guess! :)
Jase asked me a good question when I told him - what do I want to do next? Well... I'm not going to go scale free for a MONTH, but I'm going to not weigh in again until September 15th. Fortnightly weighing in might give me that extra boost of motivation, because the scales just WEREN'T dropping weekly.
Thank goodness for weekends.. this one couldn't have come more slowly though. Grr. I'm feeling more than a little exhausted, and plan to do a whole lot of nothing this weekend.
I resisted more homemade goodies today.. well, except for the two pieces of coconut ice that I scoffed. Eee. It's all good, I counted it in my calories and it's all fitting. I did plan on walking for another hour today since tomorrow is WEIGH IN, but my shins were paining so much that I had to stop.
Ended up jogging for 10 minutes and walking for 20 minutes, totalling 3.5km. Nothing special, but adds to my distance tally. :)
I'm HOPING for 82kgs, which is 2kg lost over the month. Anything under that is a bonus. Anything over that? BLARGH. Not thinking that way. Thinking positive!
Well, I'm definitely labelling today as my splurge day! It was the Fathers Day stall at school, and our preschool teachers made lots of homemade goodies - homemade lamingtons, homemade chocolates, homemade doughnuts... yargh!
I ate a donut, as well as about 4 bite size chocolates WHICH was bad enough - except that I also ate Red Rooster for dinner!
The calories for the day weren't too bad though. Because I exercised for an hour (jogged for 20, walked for 40) I earned back some calories, so only ended up a little over. 1893 / 1510 cals. I can live with that, especially since learning I have been UNDER my calorie intake because of my exercising.
Back on the bandwagon tomorrow for ONE last day of healthiness, before Saturday morning's weigh-in. Omg. Nerves!
I must say, if I've learned anything from this No Scale month, it's that I'll enjoy being more creative with my post titles from now on!!! Although it does save me from thinking about it, I suppose.
Nothing much to report today, except that I am having one heck of a FAT day. Not that I ate badly, but geez, I look (and feel) like a big bloated freak. No real reason for it either, which sucks.
My proudest achievement? I drank over 2L of water today, so yay me! :) Exercise done today - 60minute walk, covering 6.5km. I couldn't bear to run today, shin splints were so bad, but walking is good too!
BLARGH. Tiring, tiring day, and it's left me exhausted at 7pm. Tonight I'm going to curl up with a WW pudding & icecream, watch Australian Idol and then crash into bed.
I'm still addicted to Calorie King. It was telling me I haven't been eating enough calories, because I wasn't using my exercise when I was calculating my daily allowance. Means I get to splurge a little more, throw in some more snacks, relax just a tiny bit. I wonder if that's why I stopped losing for such a long time? I wasn't feeding myself enough. Who knows. :)
I'm going to stop posting food here, because I'm doing it on CK already and can't be bothered. Exercise I'll keep going with, though! I ran 4.3kms today! It was in 30 minutes, and I had a couple of 1 min breaks for my shin splints, but I just kept going! Then did a 1km walk to finish up, totalling 5.3kms. Am so tired.
Well, it's been voted - I'm going to weigh in on September 1st, which is this Saturday coming. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I'm hoping for 2kgs lost, which would bring me under 83kgs. Eee!
Kelly suggested I use CalorieKing.com.au to track some of my calories and see how much was in what, so I did - I know, months and years AFTER everyone else has discovered it! I am slow. But it's fantastic! :) I tracked yesterday and today, and it's just another way of keeping on goal. I think I'm going to use it, since I write my food down here anyway. Doesn't take long to whack the bits and pieces in, and does all the tallying for me. I likey!
Food eaten today - 2x weetbix, white tea, green apple, 600ml water, poppin' lite popcorn bag, 600ml water & diet cordial, banana sandwich, 3x chicken enchilada leftovers, 600ml water & diet cordial.
Exercise done today - 60 mins, am proud of today! Instead of the usual walking, I added in some jogging too to spice it up. I've lost my jogging mojo lately, but here's how I did.
