TURBO JAM!
The post you've been waiting for - My TurboJam DVDs arrived today, so of course, I HAD to start today and give it a whirl. (You'll have to excuse me if I go on and on about it from now on, as I incorporate it into my exercise!)
The introductory workout is called the "Learn and Burn". The "Learn" part is only about 7-8 minutes long, where they teach you the 11 moves. I did that twice, because I wanted to make sure I had them. Then there was the "Burn" part, which is a 17 minute workout with the moves and constant aerobic steps to music, and they also add in punches and kicks and stuff.
I noticed a few things during the workout:
- I can't do a very good ab crunch (they call it a 'tuck') - it's where you basically stand with legs spread, and hips tucked forward so your belly is crunched. The idea is that you keep your abs tucked the entire workout, but I can't even do it standing still yet, let alone bouncing around like a loon.
- I really don't know my lefts and rights. As in, they all go bounding off in one direction, and I'm usually on the other side of the room.
- Same with co-ordination. Am not very co-ordinated at all! With their knee lifts, they did a rowing motion with their arms that matched the lifted side. Me? I automatically rowed to the opposite side of the knee. Argh!!
- I want tummies like theirs. Le sigh.
- Punching is really, really fun.
So fitness - who knows what I actually burned. 2 x 8 minutes of moves, mainly crunches PLUS 2 x 18 minutes of the "Burn" DVD. As long as I record the minutes of exercise into my tracker, I should be right.
Food - 2 x toast for breakfast, 1 green apple, 4 saos with light cheese and vegemite, 2 x green teas (across the day), 1 vanilla light fruche yoghurt, chicken breast sandwich for dinner.
Phew! That was a hefty post. I actually took some measurements today, but since this post is so long, I'll save them for tomorrow's update. :)
