First, of course, I have to decide what my true goal weight really is...
A few years back, my husband, (now estranged)- hey- estranged- another possibility for word of the week?)), put in for a motorcycle. Of course, with two premature babies, money was no object - haha - after all, he had a wife who was so wonderful that she worked two jobs and did without so he didn't have to really work-
whoops- off topic-
Anyway, we got on a motorcycle kick. He bough a Honda ACE, which I really liked, but it was too big for me, and I don't have a lot of experience with bikes anyway, so we borrowed a scooter from a cousin- it was the new version of the "Honda-matic", a Reflex. I liked it because it was automatic, so less worries when you had a kid behind you. But it was only a 250, which was a bit slow for me ( I like to go fast!) it topped out about 70 mph, and the tires/wheels were too small. Our youngest was really too young to be back-packing on either of the bikes, so I didn't buy it for various and sundry reasons. I got a killer hot tub instead.
So now we are split, the babes are older- almost 6 and 9.5, I tired of the hot tub- no man around kinda makes it lonesome in an 8-seater- AND I am thinking of moving to the mountains shortly- We took a trip to check out areas for relocation- (My sister, brother-in-law, and I), and found a place we all agreed on. There were bikes EVERYWHERE, so now I know I am getting one.
I found Suzuki Burgman- comes in a 400 - more my desire, and probably still a good fit.
Because, at least in Florida, you can't test drive a new bike. Go figure- how do you know if there is something wrong with it, if it vibrates the hell outta your pinched nerve- or if it gives you crotch-creep?
I like the idea of the automatic, especially because it has a comfy seat (no bike will I own that has a seat more than 6" narrower than my behind) a deck, and easy on & off because you don't have to throw your leg over. Means I can wear tighter pants.
Anyway, that is my goal present to myself.
Gotta go research the bike some more.
Gotta loose some more weight, too. Gonna paint and probably tile floors tomorrow- that should be good for another pound off- 10 hours of intensive labor at 350 calories an hour?
There is a commercial that replays frequently about Identity Theft, two lil' ole' ladies sittin' on the settee, with the backwoods redneck teeney-bopper boy voices... It sounds like this, nah, it sounded like this, shoot, it sounds good because it's free...
A co-worker lost his debit card the other day, of course while he was out doing a good deed, and someone found the card, and, of course, went out and used it. At least, in this case, it was for gas, groceries, and shoes. I work in an area that is dense with Mexican Workers, a lot of them are here illegally. Why INS hasn't come through to clear out the "little Mexico" that is growing up out here, I do not know, but I think to myself, "at least someone bought shoes and groceries for their kids, and not a 4-wheeler". Of course, it's easier to feel magnanimous, when it's not your money.
I love this word: [Mid-18th century. < Italian < seguire "follow" < Latin sequi]
segue
Do you ever notice that when you buy something new - like a car, for instance, you SUDDENLY notice all the other models just like yours?
It's the same way with the "word of the week", which for me is segue. I remember facetious. Now, THAT was a word you could spend a week with. I heard segue used in a comedy routine, and never really understood before what it meant, outside of music, which means "continue without pause". Now I get it!
se·gue [ sé gwày, sáy gwày ] intransitive verb (past and past participle se·gued, present participle se·gue·ing, 3rd person present singular se·gues)
Definition: move smoothly; or to make a smooth, almost imperceptible transition from one state, situation, or subject to another.
I SEGUE all day long, and didn't even know I was doing something special.
I love Mexican Food. It amazes me when people say they don't. What's not to like?
(Segue) So this weekend I am moving furniture, packing and moving boxes, and painting walls. It's actually a typical weekend for me lately; I'm trying to get my life organized, and that means helping everyone else get organized, too.
(Segue) My sister says, "You know we are eating something good in exchange for this labor, right?"
We stick to plan all day, then hit the fajitas at 7:30 PM. All prettied up, with three kids in tow. It was great, I felt like I had exercised all of the calories off beforehand, so no guilt for eating TWO tortillas.
Whatzup with this guilt from eating? I remember my mom telling me when I was a teenager that she could always tell when I felt guilty, (whether I was or not was a different story), because I always leaned my head to my right. Applies to food, too. But my head stayed straight on all night! Of course, after we ate, guess what we did? MOVED MORE FREAKIN' FURNITURE! We were up until 12:15 in the morning reassembling, and got up and did more the next day. The house we are sharing is starting to look good, my house is starting to look EMPTY. It echoes now.
(Segue) But after this weekend, I am still 191 pounds, even with the binge at the cantina, and fit in a skirt this morning that I could only dream of 3 months ago. So what is it's a size 14, and not a 10? It's a lot smaller than the clothes I bought last year.
I know 191 is a lot of weight, but I feel good, and judging by the looks we got when we went out, I is starting to LOOK good, too!
That is my goal for this summer! Getting back to an "overweight" status, instead of a BMI that SCREAMS OBESE. About 8 more pounds; it is so close that I can taste it!
I need to research some more. Who came up with this BMI thing, anyway?
My MD said I need to be about 170 pounds for my height and weight-which sounds wonderful- only 21 pounds to go- but my BMI index says 154 to be within desired range- and that's on the heavy side. Do I get 5 extra pounds for having big boobs? What about curvy thighs? I can carry an extra 5 on each one, easily. And let's not even go to the caboose. I had J.Lo. curves at 6!
