And so it begins....
I probably should of started this weight loss journey before I let it get so out of control. However, I didn't so...gotta start somewhere right??
I have struggled with my weight for as long as I can remember. I remember when I was younger my parents constantly making hurtful comments about my weight. I think they thought it would encourage me to lose the weight, however, it did quite the opposite. What they may not of known at the time is I am a emotional eater, so the more comments they made the more depressed I got and the more I ate, resulting in more weight gain. When I was a junior in high school I was about 160lbs I went 3 months eating nothing but pretzel sticks (only by recommended serving sizes so maybe 20) and drinking water. I quickly lost the weight and was down to 130lbs before I knew it. Looking back at pictures now, I see how disproportionate I looked. I have a large frame (thanks to my German heritage) and that weight was not right for me. However, as we all know with crash diets and starvation, I gained it all back plus more, then weighing about 170 lbs.
I am now 24 years old and married to my wonderful supportive husband. He refuses to admit to me that he sees me as being overweight but I don't believe that for a second. LOL November '08 we found out I was pregnant with our first child. At this time I was weighing 180 lbs. Now, this may sound like a lot, but I felt great and looked pretty good too (even though my BMI would still say I'm overweight). The first 6mo of my pregnancy I only gained 5lbs since I was constantly sick and unable to keep food down. After the morning sickness passed I began craving nothing but junk food (who can blame me its so good!). On July 12, 2009 I gave birth to our daughter by c-section, then weighing 220 lbs. Three days later I noticed a lot of swelling in my legs and feet so after the doctors ruled out blood clots they put me on Lasix; then losing 10 lbs in 3 days. Now, it has been 7mo to the day since I had Ryleigh and I am weighing in at 245 lbs. Now, how did this happen?? I am more active since having her and eat considerably less. However, here is what I believed happened. Even though I am eating less I haven't been eating any better. Also, I'm not burning the calories I was while being pregnant due the work my body was doing to make my beautiful little girl.
So, its time to stop complaining about being overweight and DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
Here is my goal:
No sweets, sodas
Strictly limit carbs
Drink more water
No eating past 8pm
Work out or walk at least 4 days a week

My 1st mini weight loss goal is to lose 20 lbs by April 15th 2010, before my husband comes home from Iraq.
One step at a time. Wish me luck! :)
