Feeling motivated this morning!
I woke up today and just had a feeling of happiness and motivation. I didn't have one excuse not to walk to work. I didn't have one excuse to have a waffle instead of oatmeal. I didn't have one excuse to not continue.
but
I had soooo many reasons to fight through this.

My juicing fail story.
sooo I got a juicer over the weekend and I was determined to juice right away.
I bought some:
kale
spinach
celery
an apple
parsley
bell pepper
I juiced it and everything would have been fine, if i would have just drank it then. buuut no I had to get smart and made a decision to blend the pulp back into the juice. So i could consume all of the nutrients. BAD IDEA!! well at least for me. I have an old blender and it just did not have to power to blend everything together.
blah!
oh well, you live and you learn.

I got a juicer!!
For the last week I've been on a mission to make a new plan. and here it is... Kinda.
1. I will still to this plan during the week and use the weekends as my off days. This applies to working out and somewhat to eating.
2. I have to have to have to drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water or tea.
3. I have to eat breakfast within 1 hour after waking up. Breakfast must be a fulfilling, hearty & full of health fats. ex. Whole wheat muffin, Swiss cheese, avocado, tomato, egg & olive oil.
4. I will juice for dinner. I got a juicer over the weekend. So I thought it would be a good idea to juice one of my meals and what better meal to replace than dinner? Since I go to bed sometime after dinner, having a liquid as a meal will help my body with digestion and absorption.
5. I have to walk to work. My job is about 2 miles away from my house. So its only a 35-40 minute walk. Walking is a great way to burn extra calories with out really trying. So why not?
6. I have to do intense cardio at least 3 times a week. running, elliptical, stair master or my favorite elliptical stair stepper.
7. I have to do strength training 3 times a week. I must focus on abs and arms every time and rotate other parts of my body (legs, back, shoulders, ect.) throughout the week.
8. 1500 calories per day. 3 meals & 1-2 snacks.
9. Make working out a PRIORITY.

wish me luck!

You mean to tell me, it's already March??
what happened to February??
Well for me... February was a big ol' fat PAUSE BUTTON. but even that would be bending the truth. February was more of a slow motion rewind button LOL What I mean is that my healthy eating and exercise hasn't been on point, but it didn't get as bad as it could have gotten.
To catch up: Goals for March:
1. Go re.sign up for my gym.
---> I will be doing this tomorrow. I will also be making to act of going to the gym a priority & a mandatory commitment to work out no less than 3 days a week. I have to treat working out with the same seriousness that I do for work and school. My physical & mental health are just as important as studying for a midterm or picking up that extra shift at work.
2. Drink my 8 cups a day of H2O and/or green tea.
--> the weight always seems to just melt off when I have a minimum of 8 glasses of water and/or tea.Plus, its good for me.
3. Walk at least 30 minutes -I wanted to say 5 days/week but i'm going to stick to- 3 days/week.
--> i want to make sure i'm making goals that I know I can keep. I will gradually increase from there.
4. Drop 5-8 pounds in March.
--> do-able-ness on a scale of 1 to 10 (where 1 is not do-able and 10 is totally do-able) I say 8!!
Any who.. since i'll be re.joining the gym tomorrow, i'll be able to once and for all weigh myself!! yey! i know i've probably gained most (if not all) of the weight I lost in January... So to give myself a nice little motivation i'm going to workout before I weigh myself and use that as my new starting weight.

ooohh... P.s: my birthday is April 15th (

) So i'm going to use that date to reach my mini goal of losing a solid 10 pounds and shedding 4 total inches off from around my stomach/love handles.
---> do-able-ness: 9!!

Where has the time gone??
Sooo I haven't blogged for a while and just wanted to update. I finally got new running shoes. I actually ended up getting 2 pairs of shoes.
I worked out as soon as I got them. And boy oh boy was I sore the next day!! I'm glad to be back to working out and eating right. I evaluated my eating habits since February started and I realized I was only eating right about 50% of the time. I'm going to shoot for about 70% eating right. I don't want to set myself up for failure by making 100% my goal.
Overall I am so excited to have running shoes now

lost 2 more inches!!! & feeling good.
wow. oh. wowy.
soooo I was feeling kinda bummed that I haven't been able to exercise lately because of my schedule and my torn running shoes. but I started noticing that I felt like i was still "losing weight". I have no idea how this could be! well.. I have a small clue.
things I still did:
-drank water.. lots and lots of water.
-drank about 2 or 3 cups of tea. (no added sweeteners)
-tried to eat kinda healthy most of the time. (??)
any ways.. so today I was trying on some old clothes and i realized that they started fitting better. soooo I decided to measure myself... and ...
I LOST 2 MORE INCHES!! (overall)
I lost an inch around my love handles.
I lost .5 an inch around my waist.
I lost .5 around my thighs.

soooo I am feeling pretty good right now. I just wanna go run or something.

opps, I did it again. and no I am not talking about Britney Spears.
My old habit emerged.
I made progress and I just stopped trying as hard.
I stopped eating as healthy.
I stopped making the extra effort.
I just feel like I stopped.
A lot has contributed to this,
1. It has been a habit of mine to stop after making progress.
2. My running shoes tore
3. my gym membership expired
4.I started school full time (on top of my already working full time)
sure I can point out all the excuses in the world... but I just am bummed that It happened... AGAIN.
For me, I realized that my diet follows my exercise. What I mean is, that I eat better when I exercise. Since I've had a lot of road blocks in the exercise department my diet has been suffering.
I want to get back into the exercise routine. I just need a good pair of shoes. I went shopping last week and bought a pair of running shoes, but after walking in them for about 20 minutes, they began to hurt my feet A LOT!! so a return and a repurchase are order ASAP!

My January workout calendar.

Here is what I did in the month of January, as far as exercise goes. I also included some notes to reference my results.

UPing the Ante.
New rating scale for calories in & calories out for February.
I decided to tighten up my scale for my weekly ratings. I felt like I did good with my last set of standards but realized I had plenty of leeway which I took advantage of. I took out some slack but not all of it. I still want to have some wiggle room for error

also:
My weeks are going to be 10 days long.
Making my rating scale as follows:
"great": 21-30
"good": 11-20
"bad": 0-10
I will still be giving myself a bonus point WHEN* I get a "perfect" day (score a 3 in both calories in & out)
Calories in:
0- ate an unhealthy meal OR ate 2 or more unhealthy snacks.
1- had a maximum of 1 unhealthy snack
2- ate healthy all day but Did not meet my water intake
3- ate healthy all day AND drank a minimum of 8 glasses of water.
Calories out:
N/a- day off (1/week)
0- no exercise.
1-walked 30 mins (2miles) + 20 mins strength training (stretching, lifting weights, ab work, and/or a video)
2- walked 1 hour (4miles) + 20 mins strength training OR ran 40 mins w/o strength training
3- ran 40 mins + 20 minutes strength training AND walk 30 mins (2 miles) OR ran over an hour + 20 minutes strength training.
Scale!!! I need one a.s.a.p! Or at least a secure place to weigh myself. I used to have a gym membership but it is currently 'frozen' due to lack of transportation. I should be getting my car back pretty soon and I hope To hit the gym after class during the week. And any other time I'm bored or just want to get away/out of my house!

What gave or gives you motivation? here's mine...
The moment that got me motivated happened in public. I was
standing around eating a piece of bread when this old mad made a comment about
my weight. He said "must be nice not having to worry about your weight
after you get married, huh? better be careful before your husband leaves you"....
1. I am not married
2. I had no idea
who this guy was. who was HE to judge me??
3. I am not tooo over weight. I am more out of shape than anything. It hit me BIG emotionally because i struggle with my self image and depression because of my weight.
Back to my story... I was shocked!!! I couldn't believe what that man told me, as if he knew me. After a few hours of pure anger towards this man, I realized he was right (about my weight) I
had let myself gooooo. I was way out of shape and I had gained a good 20 pounds
in the last couple of years. Even though that man didn't know me or my weight
loss situation, it triggered something in me... my motivation. Sure, I’m not
motivated 100% of the time, but I am in a better place now than I was when that
man made that comment.
So tell me, what triggered your motivation? maybe a health scare? I would like to know
