Second Day - HUGE Challenge!
My husband & I love to entertain. This evening we are hosting a party honoring the engagement of the daughter of close friends. There will be 24 people attending & this will, quite obviously, present a huge challenge for my new beginning. The menu is fajitas with all the trimmings as main course. Veggie & fruit trays along with chips/dips will be the side items. Of course, dessert will be a big event!! Fortunately, others are bringing the desserts! The good news I see here is that there are options available & with restraint, there is no reason for my new beginning to go awry.
After years of struggle with losing weight, I know my weaknesses & as I write more about this journey, I'll talk about those.........but for today, here are the goals I have set for myself: 1) Don't start munching because once I start, I cannot stop, it's better for me to abstain completely, 2) While others are eating, concentrate on the duties of being the hostess & stay busy keeping the guests happy, 3) At some point, enjoy ONE fajita along with some veggies, 4) Do NOT eat dessert!! 5) Absolutely NOTHING goes into my mouth after guests have left & we are cleaning up - do everything possible to minimize leftovers by sending things home with guests.
Others might approach this with different strategies, but these are the things that will work for me. I've often thought & taught that one of the most difficult aspects of weight loss management is to fully grasp the concept that every person is an individual that must determine what works for them & truly understand that what works for someone else may NEVER work for them. More about that in later journals.............
Yesterday was good. I am highly motivated to lose the weight I've regained & the gift of a new beginning on 9/11 will be significant in my progress.
For now, it's time to get moving. I've got tons to do.
