25 Things For My 25th Year - List Update - Pic Intense and Video!

Can I just say that my vacation did not go the way I waned it to, so I barely got done what I wanted to get done. Things kept going wrong or things had to be pushed aside for another time, for beyond stupid reasons and when we were doing some of the things that we wanted to do, like getting a Beavertail and hot chocolate during our Tourist day in The Old Port of Montreal, for the first time again in 5 years, we found bugs floating in my hot chocolate and plastic bits in my beavertail! Eww! Won't be going there again! And as an aside note, I'm so glad I pulled off the top of the cup to blow on my hot chocolate to cool it down a touch before actually drinking any otherwise I never would have known!

Oh and I can't count how many times the camera died on me! I kept forgetting to recharge it when it needed it! Gah, I felt like an ass because of that throughout most of our vacation.

The vacation itself sucked for the most part, except for the things on my list that I did manage to get done. So enjoy the pictures and video!

Also, please excuse the watermarks on my photos. I now have to start tagging my pictures because some ass started hotlinking some of my old ones and claiming them as their own. I had to set my albums to private and change all the extentions to get the pictures off their site. Anyways...

Here it is, the update for my '25 Things For My 25th Year' challenge that I originally posted on my birthday, March 19th 2009.

Bolded and in green are the ones that I am currently working on, bolded and in red are the ones I have completed and pink is just commentary.

25 Things For My 25th Year

1) Go Skydiving! <-> Now Ripriding x2!

- UNFORTUNATELY skydiving is WAY out of our budget range, so to substitute for this challenge we went on a  RIPRIDE instead. I'm going one more time this month, the weekend before it closes for the season.

^ My Husband after his Ripride, right after me. I was first for the day! Woohoo!

2) Go shopping for a new wardrobe to more reflect the new person I've become over the past year and reward my weight loss!

- This one is going to take some time as my body is still changing. My total 'allowance' if you will, is $300, so far I have spent... -$25 @ Dynamite -$20 @ Walmart -$15 @ Dynamite

3) Get a new hair style!

4) Go rock climbing!

EVIDENCE =

5) Try 25 new exotic foods/meals, something out of my comfort zone that I've never considered before.
 - 1) Crab Cakes 2) Traditional Hummus 3) Couscous Salad 4) Blood Orange 5) A Starbucks Caramel Macchiato (espresso) 6) Bulgogi stir fry (korean) 7) Tandori combo plate (indian) (all new to me) -> samosa/potatoe version, naan bread, butter chicken curry in a coconut sauce and masala potatoes 8) Sushi 9) Physalis 10) Chili (made by me)

6) Take the 23andMe Genome test.
(Likely to come to $530 after conversion and taxes. Not including delivery. If delivery cost remains the same, the total should come to about $599. If I can't afford this before the deadline, then refer to #26.)

7) Learn to swim.

8) Apply for my driver's license.
(I was silly and let my permit lapse years ago, so it's time to try again.)

- Been studying for weeks and only found out just last week that you can't just walk in and take the test anymore, you have to actually make an appointment now. So I will be trying to call this week and sort out a book date.

9) Read 25 books.
(OR read a book a month. If time doesn't permit all 25, then 1 a month must be read.)
 - 1) Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain 2) When The Emporer Was Divine by Julie Otsuka 3) The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch

- Falling so behind with this one. I'm in the middle of two books and just can't seem to get myself to finish them.

10) Get a professional massage.

11) Do community service/volunteering, ideally 25 hours worth.

12) Donate blood.

- I have a date picked out for when I'm going to go!

13) Go to the Montreal Biodome with my Husband. (Website)

- Although we will be going again to get more pictures.

EVIDENCE =

14) Finally sit down and have a real talk with my Father about our difficulties/issues.

15) Write a letter to my Mother to release the pain that I've carried around over the years because of our 'relationship'.

16) Go on a real date with my Husband. Get somewhat dressed up, go somewhere nice.
(Sadly, we've never done this. No real date or anything. I feel a little pathetic.)

- We got all dressed up and went to a nice restaurant for our 7th anniversay but we forgot to take pictures and the evening didn't turn out as we originally hoped, so we're going to try one more time again soon, then I'll count this item as completed.

17) Start taking the steps needed to a career as a Personal Trainer and/or a Nutrition and Wellness Specialist.
(As previously mentioned in post Day 20 of 132) (Courses are exspensive, so I really hope I can find a way to afford this, this year!)

- In the works, I'll post about the details at a later date, when things are more settled and finalized.

18) Play the 'tourist' for a day in Montreal and go visit all of the tourist traps and see what's in/around Montreal.

- Had to end the day early and didn't get any pictures, so we're going to go out one more time on the town before I count this item as complete.

19) Go through everything I own and purge myself of the things I either don't need or don't want anymore. Donate what is in good shape and could be useful to someone else.

20) Run/walk a 5k charity/whatever event.
(If I can't find an event which doesn't interfere with work or such like, then I will just do my own when I have the time to spare. Set up my own starting/finish point and have my Husband time it. I'll map out my run using mapmyrun.com)

21) Find a job, preferably in a Fitness club/gym to get my 'foot in the door' for becoming a personal trainer/nutrition and wellness specialist down the line.

22) Create and submit a design to Threadless.
(If by some lucky chance that my design ever actually won, it would pay for my cat's surgery that's been put off twice now because we can't afford it. So this one I am going to start working on right away and cross my fingers that people actually like it!)

23) Finally learn how to use my sewing machine, since I've owned it for almost 2 years now.

24) Learn how to change a tire.

- Was supposed to happen during vacation but now because we need to change the tires to put on the winter tires before November 15th, I'll just be doing this item then.

25) Learn sign language.
(As a minimum, the alphabet and a few common phrases.)

- I have a video in which I am learning the alphabet.

26) Cook/bake an exotic meal for a special occassion for my Husband and I. * (Only if I don't do Genome test. #6)

So have you added any of the new foods to your regular diet?
