Before After

6!

June 13th, 2009

So for the last several months I have only been wearing 'yoga' pants as my outdoor wear, size Medium. When my regular slacks didn't fit anymore because of the weight loss, I was a bit too cheap to want to buy a regular pair of pants, as I knew they would only be 'transition' pants.

Well since our vacation time together is fast approaching in a few weeks, I thought it would be best to buy a pair of jeans. I didn't want to wear yoga pants everywhere we went. So off to Walmart we scurried. I grab 2 size 12's, 4 size 10's and 3 size 8's. I was very much expecting to be a size 10, as logically to me, given the inches of my thighs, I assumed this size would be the most accomodating to their measurements. Being the bold woman that I am, I hesitated as I reached to try the size 12's on first and made a b-line for a pair of the 8's.

By george, they fit! Happy dance as I came out of the changing room to show my Husband. I coyly asked, 'What size do you think I am wearing right now?'. Obviously my not so carefully disguised smile was giving me away because my Husband answered an 8. So commenced the giddy jumping and clapping. Unfortunately I was not satisfied with the style of the size 8 pants I had on hand, none of them were flared enough at the bottom. Not enough 'boot cut' if you will and too 'skinny leg' for my liking. So off to find more sizes we went.

I grabbed about 4 size 8's and my Husband prompted me to grab one size 6, just to see. Well, again, once in the changing room I made a b-line to try on the size 6 first. Glutton for punishment that I am, except I was wrong. As I was starting to pull the pants up past my knee I gave myself a look in the mirror, 'will these size 6 pants actually fit!?!'

Given the title of my post, I don't think I need to tell you the answer. Needless to say, I came out of that changing room bopping up and down and squealing like a mad woman. I got two very quizzical looks from the woman working the changing rooms and another woman sorting her items. So, I briefly explained the situation and was met with a lovely congratulaions from the other customer.

I have to say, as I've been on this journey, I have not experienced very many outwardly emotionally milestones but as I was heading back into the changing room to try on one of the other pairs of size 6 pants that awaited me, I got choked up. I felt this overwhelming surge of emotion and held back the urge to burst out into happy tears.

Anyways, not to prolong this story much more. I never did end up finding a style in a size 6 at Walmart that I was content with. So we headed over to one of the bigger malls on the island and poked our noses into Old Navy. I did end up finding a pair of size 6 jeans that I was fairly happy with. Though still not 'boot cut' enough to my liking, they were a lot better than any of the previous pairs I had tried on earlier that morning.

So there you have it, April 28th 2008, size 15 slacks (tight fitting) to today, June 13th 2009, size 6 jeans.

I'm not technically done yet, as I am still trying to lower my body fat percentage a bit more and gain some more muscle and toning. There is always the possibility I could make my way down to a size 4 by the time I am satisfied with my final results.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far!

That is so exciting!!!!  I still remember my first size 8 skirt (US 6).  It was actually funny cos it was part of a suit and the jacket was a 10 so I assumed the skirt was too!  I had worn it several times before I realised it's actual size!  I still have that suit in my wardrobe for when I get back there again...

.

WOW . I wish that you could hear me (in my head) giving you a standing ovation!

I'm so HAPPY for you & your size 6 story.

Anna

I actually didn't read the post's title, so the story had me on the edge of my seat.
