I know someone, who will remain nameless (like you would know her anyways! LOL!), that was told by her doctor to eat a 500 calorie a day diet!  To me, that's pratically starving!

Maybe I'm overreacting....what are your thoughts out there?  Should we ALWAYS take a doctor's advice?

omg hell even slimfast wants you to eat more than that i'm doing the slimfast plan and loving it breakfast has to be atleast 250 snack 100 or 140 cals lunch at least 250 or 300 snack 100 than for dinner they want you to try to eat atleast between 500 to 700 cals.....

so yeah if she does that she is not going to make it she wont even have enough cals to function on if she is an active person

no way

500 calories cannot possibly be enough to sustain your body and provide your nutritional needs.  Either this doctor is a quack, or your friend is not being honest with you!!

I am hungry just thinking about that.  Sounds like a BAD IDEA. If you get into muscle wasting you can have some real medical problems. What is the dire hurry? I wish your friend a healthy metabolism and the sense to RUN the other way. Proud of you Bev!!!!    Suzy

CRAZY!!!

I don't know the situation or her weight, but sounds impossible atleast right away. You can see my weight on my blog and my Dr. told me to stick to a 1200 cal. diet and it's dire that I loose weight due to my heart- cholesterol. And of course weight. If she can do 500 cals let me know the secret. I guess if you eat alot of white meats and neg cal foods it would be doable. Why so restricted? Why, did he say?
