GOAL!!!
Hey everyone just a little celebration post. I managed my goal and a teeny bit more. My last weight update was actually what I weighed last Wednesday...I just forgot to update until Monday...whoops.
Now this Wednesday my extra workouts have paid off again and I managed to hit what I wanted to in time to see my tracker show that I am a successful loser who hit the goal line at last!!! Now to drop 10 more lbs to my original goal of 125 lbs (actually only 9.8 lbs...I should manage that by week 3 of boot camp at the latest so that when I get my grad pics done week 4 I'll be right where I want to be!)

Hey everyone!
I've been super busy here prepping to leave on 21 September for boot camp. That is of course if I ever pass that pre-ship fitness test that is STILL hanging over my head. I can do the run (down to 17:45 and just need to drop it to 16:45 or less) and my push-ups are good (number wise anyway, I'm up to 13 and I only need 11, however today I just was told that my back bends funny when I'm doing them and I'm not going down far enough...elbows need to be at 90 degree angle so still more to work on there).
Sit-ups are horrible though (I can only do them with a pillow under my shoulders otherwise I get stuck since I can't stop myself from lying all the way down instead of stopping once the bottom of my shoulder blades hit the floor which apparently makes it much easier to sit-up again). I can do the 40 sit-ups I need with the pillow but obviously I have to do them WITHOUT the pillow to pass..grr. Better than not being able to do any though, which is where I was at the end of last week.
Therefore I now have 5 days of PT with my recruiter instead of just 2 and have very little time to pass the test or else get kicked out of the Navy before I even start. More stress yay...and still I managed to lose some more weight. That's the only real bright spot here. Only 8.6 lbs to goal (the 135 lb goal...if I have time left before I ship I may drop that back to 125 lbs, but probably will shoot to get to that during boot camp). I'm getting some nice leg muscles though from all this running (we did 3 miles on both Tuesday and Thursday this week).

OUCH
I finished my 3 mile run. It wasn't as fast as I hoped it would be (I finished in 45 minutes) but it was really tough to keep running the whole time. My recruiter let me walk small pieces of it (only about 1/2 mile total of the 3 miles). I am so sore right now though it isn't funny. And my recruiter is convinced that I'll be ready to run 1.5 miles tomorrow evening and then again on Thursday morning. He did say if I was too sore that I didn't have to run tomorrow, but I think he's wanting me to say that I'm fine and run anyway.
Off to find something to eat. I'm glad I didn't eat before I ran today though, I started feeling a little sick to my stomach just with the water I drank by the time I got to the last 1/4 mile.

Monday Monday
I hate Mondays, although today hasn't actually been that bad.
Food is going good today after falling off the horse over the weekend. Running is making me extra hungry which is NOT a good thing when I don't get grocery money until Wednesday and have used up all the healthy stuff I have in the house. I stuck with my shakes today even though I'm almost out of that as well, but it was better than trying to scrounge something relatively healthy out of the freezer.
My run time continues to come down, a lot faster actually than I thought it would. Friday's 1.5 mile run was in 21:20 and today's I managed in 19:45 despite a cross wind that nearly blew me off the road at times. I also managed to jog the whole distance and actually didn't really notice the first mile. It was only the last 1/4 mile that was really tough (my turtle pace running got even slower at that point). The music did help some, especially the song that came on right at the end which had a good cadence to get my breathing back under control without having to stop to walk. I was still super glad to see my car by the end of the run though. Only 3 more minutes to chop from my time in order to be ready to leave next month and then 1:15 to cut off of my time while I'm in boot camp.
Tomorrow will be my longest run- a whole 3 miles with my recruiter making sure I don't think about stopping to walk. My goal is to finish it somewhere between 38-40 minutes. I think I can do it in 39 depending on how the hills for the first 3/4 of a mile slow me down.

Another run
Just got back from timed run #2. I also edited my last post a little as I had 21:45 for the first run and it was actually 22:45.
On today's run I managed to cut 25 seconds off my time (down to 22:20). I still need to shave off 5:35 from my time.
Sunday I am going to run it myself (on a flat course and not the hills, to see what the difference is). Then on Tuesday my recruiter wants me to run 3 miles as the extra distance will make it easier to run the 1.5 mile distance, so unofficially I'll be doing my first 5K on Tuesday and possibly again on Thursday plus a timed 1.5 mile run on Sundays from now on until I get my time down.
I did manage 11 push-ups (my minimum to be able to ship to boot camp) and they were even the narrow kind of pushups (hands less than shoulder width apart) so now its just working on my situps and run time and I'll be all set!!!

Oh Man
Yesterday was the first timed run in the lead up to getting ready for boot camp. The route my recruiter had us take was all hills (4 fairly large hills), but good news is I finished the 1.5 mile run. Bad news is that it took me 22:45 to do it since I had to power walk up the hills (and down the last one because I was super tired and it was 85 degrees outside with 100% humidity..sort of like running through pudding). I have to get my time down to as close to 16:45 as possible (they are willing to bend the requirement on the time a little as we are running hills and the run at boot camp will be on a nice flat track in a climate controlled building). No idea how to get my time down nearly 5 minutes in the time I have left but I run again tomorrow.
Now I just have to get rid of the sore muscles. Somehow most of my legs are fine except my inner thighs. I have no idea why that part would be sore. I would have thought if anything would hurt it would be my butt or my shins (they feel well worked out but don't hurt), my inner thighs however twinge a bit and I walked like I just rode a bike or a horse when I first got up this morning. More stretching before tomorrow's run I think. I'm also running by myself on Sunday on a flat stretch of boardwalk so I can see how much time I really need to knock off my run and how much is the hills adding to my time.

EEK
I have been so busy in the past month that I haven't posted on here or even updated my weight log (until now anyway). I'll be able to update it again on Monday since I'm already down 2.6 lbs from what I have posted as of last Monday.
I've been busy with yet more paperwork for joining the Navy. I went back to the processing center on 20 July and my medical file was FINALLY signed off since they had approved the waiver for my dental work. Then I sat around for hours and was called in to speak to the job scheduler. There I was given the job of Hull Maintenance Technician. I'll be learning welding, soldering, plumbing (fitting pipes and such), and how to work on heating/cooling systems. I even got the Advanced Technical Field program in my contract (I guess I knew more about mechanical and electrical stuff than I thought I did since I had to score extremely high in those sections as well as math and science to get into this Advanced Program).
What all of this means is that I've sworn in the first time to be a member of the US NAVY and I'll be shipping to boot camp on 21 September. So when I disappear again on 20 September you guys will know why!!!

Over the 100 lb lost mark
Yes with today's WI I have now lost 100.8 lbs. I started out 29 April 2009 at 252.2 lbs and am today 6 July 2010 down to 151.4 lbs. This is the most weight I have ever succeeded in losing.
This leaves me 26.4 lbs away from my goal. That's still a few months worth of work, but my goal by 23 August 2010 (my 31st birthday) is to at least get down another 6.4 lbs so that I only have 20 lbs to go. That's about 1 lb a week which is a very likely goal. If I keep losing well I may even lose more than that by my birthday.

OMG
Lately I've felt disgusted with the entire contents of my closet. I have next to nothing that fit me (everything is enormous and it looks horrible). Anyway, I went into my box of things from the last time I lost weight and fished out a few pairs of smaller jeans. Size 12-HUGE (almost falling off without unbuttoning or unzipping big). Size 10-Not much better (and the legs looked awful because of all the extra material). Then I got to the Size 8's which I had just gotten skinny enough to wear when I bought them a few years ago. Now...THEY FIT...actually they were also too big...to the point where there was a gap when I sat down that allowed my underwear to show...not cool.
So the other day I went power walking at the mall. Good exercise, an excuse to hang out in air conditioning (which in Minnesota is NOT practical to have in your home for the basically one month of hot humid weather we get scattered throughout the entire summer and part of the autumn), and I was able to hit both Vanity and Old Navy to try on some new pants (which sadly I cannot afford to actually buy yet, despite the sales). I also looked at some new underclothes since my bra and underwear are also too big at this point (grr...bras are expensive).
Vanity is a store that carries junior sizes so I haven't changed my size there yet. I'm still in a 28 which is a size 7. I thought at least I could get down to a 27 (size 5) but maybe in another 10 lbs or so they will fit. At Old Navy though I tried on a newer size 8 first (thinking my old ones stretched out a bit from cramming myself into them when I didn't quite fit them very well) but 8's are definitely too big. So I tried on a SIZE 6 and they actually fit. Quite well actually, nice and tight on the legs, no annoying gap in the back when I sit, and they feel quite comfy. I have a little fat squishing out the top, but that's to be expected...and it's actually mostly loose skin not too much actual fat. A long shirt would hide that until I can lose another 10 lbs or so and it goes away.
Now to just get the $$$ to actually buy my pretty size 6 jeans. I've hit a goal that I set as a far off dream years ago when I first tried to lose weight. I can wear a size 6 in jeans and even better a standard Large size shirt!!!

So Close
Well it took a little longer than I thought to get to this point....mostly because the dental work is taking longer than expected which has made it nearly impossible for me to exercise like I wanted to. I still have one more dentist appointment to get a badly damaged and decayed back molar extracted (under just Novocaine doesn't that sound like fun). So far I've had 4 front teeth filled (small fillings with no residual pain), 3 molars filled (moderate pain from the shots mostly), 1 bicuspid that needed a pretty deep filling (HUGE pain from the 3 shots needed to finish filling the tooth since the shots kept wearing off before he was done. It also didn't feel too pretty afterward and is still hurting pretty badly now), and 3 bicuspids that needed full root canals (which aren't as bad as I thought but did require 3 and sometimes 4 shots of Novocaine per tooth to finish since my metabolism apparently likes to rapidly absorb the Novocaine and it wears off before the dentist finishes drilling and scraping let alone filling the teeth afterward).
As a result I have been on a soft diet for the past week trying to let my poor upper jaw recover from all the work that's been done on it and in preparation for the soft foods only diet I'll need to be on for a week maybe 2 after I get this tooth pulled out (that's if it doesn't manage to fall out on it's own since it doesn't seem to be all the way in place anymore...making it hard to bite down on things anyway).
The upside is that I lost 2.4 lbs this week taking me up to 99.6 lbs lost since 29 April 2009. I'm just below the 100 lb mark and fully expect to get over that hurdle when I weigh in on 28 June. That will be just over 100 lbs in 14 months.
Cross your fingers everyone. Once the dental work is finished and I get the file from the dentist along with a letter stating that the work is done and that there's no more decay or gingivitis that the Navy will overturn their denial of my waiver so I can continue enlisting...otherwise there won't be anything I can do about meeting my dream of joining the Navy and will have had all this painful dental work done for no reason (besides my health anyway...but joining was the real reason I did all the work ASAP instead of spacing it out so that I wouldn't be in quite so much pain...3 dentist visits a week for 2 weeks is a little much I think).
I also have to go dig up account numbers from all my debts that I reported on my financial paperwork...some of them are sort of old and I don't really have the papers for them since I have no money to pay them. Another obstacle that is thrown in my way. I wish my recruiter would have told me this months ago and I could have gotten them together by now.
