Never thought I would be so glad to see a new week. The last 2 wks have been full of indulgences. Today I am finally back OP.
Breakfast: Special K protein bar
Lunch: 1/2 of Chicken Chef salad
Snack: banana
Zumba: 1 hour
Dinner: 1/2 large cheese burger off home grill, 3 Tbsps pasta salad, cucumber slices, tomatoe slices, w/ 3 Tbsps cottage cheese
Long, brisk wog (at least 3mi--will ck mapmyrun.com for sure)
Snack: 1 C Carnation high protein mix w/ milk
How could I ever choose food over endorphins? Food doesn't taste as good as exercise rush feels!
Thanks for all the wonderful comments girls about my pics. It is a rare occassion that I find a pic of myself that I like. As soon as I saw the pic where I was smiling big I felt like a "Supa-star"! This photo in a 5X7 is going to cost $15.00! Eak! There are a couple of others I would like (like me crossing the finish line); however, the cost will not permit. What a racket!
I am so far behind on blogs--with folks in town I have been spending all spare time w/ them. How could I have not appreciated my folks sooner? I was totally a rebel into my mid 20s. My dad and I have only been getting along for about 10 yrs--how I regret the first 30. I am so grateful! Life is as it should be (minus one 6'4 bald man)LOL.
If you are like me, you read blogs on Google reader and sometimes newer pics that have been posted.
One pic is the 2008 Start up line for Mini. My corale would have been all the way toward the back--where the dome thing stretches across the street. To get a good feel for the length of this line--it was over 6 city blocks long! What a rush! The crowd was all pumped up!
2nd pic is last years Mini photo. Just waiting to be notified that new pics are in. I am hoping to compare and greatly hoping to notice a drastic chg in my appearance. I can't remember how long it took last year for us to be notified. I will keep you posted. Unfortunately, Sandy does not have an internet connection at home so it may be awhile before I can receive the pics he took.
Tonight was day 2 of Zumba. My co-worker and I were a little concerned after day 1--we were afraid that the intensity was pretty low impact.
Tonight the instructor stated that she had heard complaints the other day that the class wasn't fast paced enough. She flat out told us that if we wanted a high impact class then we needed to go elsewhere.
Mind you she proceeded to add a bunch of new moves and kicked our collective @$$es! Now that's what I am talking about.
I'm really beginning to feel myself spread out in a couple of places. I wish my stimulus ck would get the heck here so I can re-up to the gym. My intention was to walk on my non-Zumba days but it hasn't happened yet. I can always find something else to do. If I pay for the membership I will go straight to the gym after work.
The instructor of this class is an older white lady. Her moves don't seem to have much of a Latin flair although I think they are supposed to. I think I am going to try and find more YouTube videos to try to mimic more Latin style moves.
I can't seem to get the Latin butt shake down. My friend just stands there and laughs at me.
Tonight I was laying on the floor at bro & sil's house as I was all sweaty from Zumba. I was feeling around on my hips, legs, & butt and realized I have some serious musclage under all that cellulite!
When I got home this evening I conned little neighbor Kimberly into jumping rope, lunges, squats, & calf races outside on the sidewalk. It was extremely overcast and misting so we didn't even wait for the cover of darkness, like usual.
Man, I can't believe how little stamina I have. Definitely need to get the C25K plan back out.
The morning of May 3rd seemed a little iffey for rain. We came prepared to get wet. Fortunately, by 10:00ish the sky was completely blue--temps were around mid sixties. Ah, perfect weather.
Unfortunately, I was in pain for the entire race--if it wasn't my bladder it was the bottoms of my feet , calves, and toward the finish line my hips and butt.
I stopped at the 3 mi mark to try to go potty--ya'll know how much I "love" porta potties. Waited for 10 minutes in a line that never moved. Left there to move on to the 4 mi potty.
While I was in line the 18 min pace girls w/ signs & cowbells came along. They were yelling that we had to catch up in a mile or we were out of the race. Right about then I had an anxiety attack--started hyperventilating. No way! I have not come this far to get picked up on mile 4.
The remainder of the race was spent either running, trying to catch up to the pace girls or trying to outrun them once I got ahead of them. Long about mile 9 I couldn't take it anymore. I had to go potty again. WTH! I wasn't hydrating like I s/h/b.
When I got behind the pace girls this time a male walker came along. He must have seen the panic in my eyes b/c he told me I could calm down. Even tho they were ahead of us we were still a minute ahead of the 18 min pace. Turns out they were walking and clanking cowbells at about a 15 minute pace, stressing me out, until they got to the next mile marker and just stopped there to rest for a couple of minutes.
The Indy 500 track was not as treacherous this time--I had kept an entire bottle of h2o just for it. For a while I was neck and neck w/ a firefighter in full turn out gear--suit, boots, helmut, tank & mask. I don't know how the hell he did it! I bet he lost over 10 lbs that day in sweat alone.
When I got to the finish line S was there. He had been acting so funky lately that I didn't even get in touch with him. Total shocker that he was there. I can't imagine how gay my finish line pic must look. He ran up to the fence and made some smart @$$ comment and I made some silly gesture. Now my finish line pic will forever be so "unprofessional" finisher like. Most people run across the line w/ their times over head. Mine will look so squirrely.
My finishing time was 4:28; however, 28 minutes of that was waiting to cross over the start line. It took 28 minutes for 39,000 plus people to cross the start line ahead of me.
My medal is really cool this year. If you wanna check out info, pics, etc...you can visit 500Festivals.com and look under mini marathon. If you select "results" put in my bib# 39,250 and it will pull up my stats. I came in 15,000 plus in my age group! Woohoo!
Sandy's husband got a really good pic of the two of us after the race. He is going to email it to me shortly.
Started Zumba tonight. Gotta learn to shake my butt Latin style.
My weight has gone up a bit butt I have not been as mindful of my eating this last week. (Folks are in town and insisted on DQs a couple of times--you know I couldn't hurt their feelings! Yeah, I know, whatever, I am weak--somehow I justified as a reward for a job well done. I did get the smallest size of the mint oreo blizzard--surely that should count for portion control! LOL)
Count this day as the first time that I actually completed the Indpls Mini Marathon! Woohoo! My medal is so cool. Sandy's hubby took several pics so hopefully I can get them posted quickly.
Sorry I can't stay up any longer to go thru all the details. I have been up since 2:45 a.m. as we had to be on our charter bus to the race by 4:00.am.
The generic ambien that my dr gave me is already kicking in. Last year I was so anxious about the Mini that I could not sleep--I only got an hour and a half worth of sleep before the alarm went off.
Sandy & her hubby are picking me up at 4:00a.m. as the charter buses pull out of town at exactly 4:30a.m.
Got all my stuff packed. Everything is ready to go. We were supposed to have beautiful weather for tomorrow; however, they have now changed it to storms. I have a huge trash bag and plastic grocery bags all together.
Best of luck to Lindy & Andrea N this weekend! EP girlz rule!
Love you all--I will try to post tomorrow night but you may wanna look for me more around Sunday. Have a great weekend all!
Tonight, at the gym, I heard a voice talking to me. Looked up to find beautiful bald guy standing there. Ugh! Can't believe that an intelligent word came out of my mouth. Mind you he was only asking to use the disinfectant spray bottle I had at my station. Wasn't like a life long commitment or anything. But damn! Why talk to me when I only have 2 days left to the gym?
My membership is free with the Mini training so it will end effective Friday! Wasn't going to pay for my own right away; however, my two favorite bald guys did speak to me tonight. Now that I think about it--wondering if my trainer didn't put them up to it to ensure my re-upping for a membership!LOL
My tax incentive check is due to be deposited into my checking on Monday. Hmmmmm.....I am already using part of it to sign up for the Zumba classes that start Monday.
I got an email at work yesterday how a different gym is going to be offering "Boot Camp Training" classes! I have been waiting a year for it to be offered in this area. Would definitely kick me up to the next level w/ my workouts. The only problem is that they are offering from 6-7a.m. Tu & Th. I would have plenty of time to shower and get to work by 8; however, I am afraid it would kick my ass so bad that I wouldn't want to go to work.
Breakfast: 2 string cheeses and leftover kielbasa
Lunch: piece of spinach/mushroom quiche & side salad
Snack: Clif bar
Dinner: Taco Bell nachos bellgrande w/ 2 bean burritos--tore all of the excess tortilla pieces off--more like a soft taco
Was totally miserable. Then little neighbor girl called b/c our local 31 flavors was have a fundraiser tonight. Got two scoops of ice cream in a bowl--a paper bowl, not the waffle bowl!LOL My belly is hurting so bad from overeating. I haven't done that in a very long time. Blech!
Thank you for all your wonderful comments. Andrea N--maybe we can get Tatumsmom & Bkay to do the Mini next year if you come here. Seems like there is someone else close by but I can't think of who.
Gotta run! Folks are in town tomorrow and my house needs some extra special attention.
Tonight after workout I was really craving chips and salsa. I chose a salsa from the produce section that I thought I had tried before. As my luck would have it--ick, it wasn't what I had tried and loved before. The dinner that I so desparately craved was not at all satiating.
Breakfast: fresh pineapple
Lunch: leftover kielbasa w/ steamed broccoli
Snack: 1 C Kashi cinnamon squares, dry
Post workout snack: banana
Dinner: chips and icky salsa--more plain chips than salsa
Seems like I have had something else but I can't seem to remember it.
May hafto eat some string cheese. It is already 8:23 p.m. and I am ready for bed. But thanks to day light savings time it will be light outside until at least 9:15 or so.
When I was at the market this evening practically all the men were bald. This is pure craziness, come on now, NOT everyone can pull off baldness. You would think it would make my chances excellent in finding my 6'4 bald man. Heck no, There are many unpleasant bald heads out there! If the guy is the least amount chubby is head is smallish for his body--it looks so doofy. (Jen, remember JS from Victory?--nuff said)
Tonight I went straight to the gym to do my weight machines and 5 mi on rebike (only took 26 min on re-bike!)
Breakfast: PB&J Mojo bar (Stardust, it was fabtabulous!)
Lunch: Arbys Market Fresh turkey & swiss w/ bbq rice quakes and lg diet dr pepper
Pre-workout snack: Blueberry Clif bar
Dinner: 3 eggs scrambled w/ kielbossa and 1 C milk
Sorry I haven't posted any pics lately. Hopefully I will have lots to share after Saturday. Sandy's hubby is going w/ their really cool new digital camera.
Big Brother ended last night--I was really glad Adam won. Couldn't stand Ryan b/c he loved Jen. Yikes! Surely he knows he can do better than her. What am I going to do w/ my Tues, Wed, & Sun evenings now?
I'm so excited my folks will be here on Thurs. They are coming in for the Mini--but after all the drama of me and exercise induced asthma is keeping them here in town instead of Indpls. Now I will have to ride the chartered bus back to town rather than get a ride from them. Dang! I don't even wanna think of the nasty stank that is going to be in that bus! If I can remember, I am going to try and remember to take a package of baby wipes.
Can you believe that after having my furnace off for over 2 wks I had to turn it back on today? Poor Nate was freezing cold when I got home from work b/c the windows were left open. Indiana sucks in the spring.
What was I thinking? Wore my new shoes today for a 7.26 mi walk. My ankle was rubbing quite a bit. At first I thought it was b/c my new socks were a little too big. On the way home from the bike trail it occurred to me--you idiot, what if it is the shoes?
Once I got home and took my socks & shoes off, I had a much bigger blister on my right ankle that I originally realized! Dang-it! I will definitely be wearing nu-skin on Saturday.
The weather here was perfect today. It was slightly chilly but the sun was out all day. It had been forecasted for rain all day so it was an unexpected surprise. Sandy and I went to the bike trail.
I almost forgot, before hiting the trail Stardust, we went to a local sports outfitter store. The clothes were entirely too expensive; however, they had every Clif item available. Guess what? yep, I found Mojo bars! I ate the sweet & salty one you mentioned after the walk--it was quite tasty. Plus, I got one that says peanut butter & jelly.
Up until now we have been using the Jelly Belly sports beans for nutrient replacement during our walks. Today I found Clif gel cubes--my new favorite item! The margarita flavor was awesome.
Brunch (woke up around 11:00 a.m.): veggie bagel w/ ff cr cheese
Post workout: 12 oz chocolate milk & Clif mojo bar
Dinner: fresh guacamole w/ tortilla chips
Snack: bbq rice quakes w/ ham salad
Hopefully tomorrow will turn out to be just as awesome as today was.
Gotta check on ya'll--everyone is doing such an awesome job at staying committed to their end result!
